The pregnant female has some physiological particularities, including cardiovascular changes, in respiratory function and gastroenteric system. Among the drugs used in pre-anesthetic medication, opioids are appropriate choices and attention should be paid to their adverse effects. Benzodiazepines can be used, but with caution. In induction, propofol and etomidate are the most indicated, to the detriment of dissociatives and barbiturates. In maintenance, the drugs of choice are isofluorane and sevofluorane, since halothane causes major fetal depression. Regional anesthesia techniques, such as epidural anesthesia, are of great value, greatly improving fetal vigor and decreasing the amount of inhaled anesthetic for pregnant women.Acesso AbertoMedicina VeterináriaCão: cesarianaAnestesiaNeonatoCNPQ::CIENCIAS AGRARIASAnestesia na cesariana de pequenos animais: revisão de literaturaArtigo de Evento
