Showing a fundamental role for the success of pregnancy, these structures have been extensively studied in several species of domestic animals of commercial interest. In these areas of contact between mother and fetus, apoptosis (programmed cell death) occurs, appearing with 7-10 months of pregnancy, however the pregnancy of the buffalo is 10 months and apoptosis is visualized in these late stages of pregnancy.
