The globular volume above 50% characterizes a more viscous blood making it difficult to transport oxygen. This paper reports the case of a female dog, Sheepdog, 9 years old, who was seen at the Veterinary Hospital “Vicente Borelli” in São João da Boa Vista, SP, and who had a transmissible venereal tumor, abdominal neoplasia in ovary, uterus, spleen and lymph node . The blood counts performed significantly helped in the diagnosis, proving the association of these neoplasms with the erythrocyte alterations, called erythrocytosis.
