Some of these impacts began to be understood recently with the emergence of ecological thinking. In Brazil today, the generation of electric energy from hydroelectric plants accounts for seventy-five percent of the installed capacity (ANEEL, 2008). The existence of large rivers, the geography of the Brazilian territory and the rainfall rates recorded in certain regions of the country justify the option for this generation matrix.
