Abstract

Recurrent Airway Obstruction "ORVA" or also known as Chronic Obstructive Disease is an inflammatory pathology that affects the lower airways of horses that inhale dust from the stall, tracks and also from hay (ROCHA JUNIOR, et al., 2007). The signs usually presented by the affected animals are cough, dyspnea and exercise intolerance. On auscultation, the presence of vesicular sounds is verified, we can also perform a cytological examination of the bronchoalveolar lavage where neutrophils are found that indicate inflammation. In the treatment of animals affected by “ORVA”, it is extremely important to change management, use corticoids, antihistamines, mucolytics and bronchodilators (ROCHA JUNIOR, et al., 2007).
