Prevalência da tuberculose bovina na região de Santa Rita de Caldas e Ipuiuna - MG

Abstract

In order to find out the prevalence of bovine tuberculosis in the municipalities of Ipuiúna and Santa Rita de Caldas, 1,136 tests carried out in this region in 2006 by veterinarians qualified by MAPA were analyzed. The method used for tests were performed using comparative intradermal tuberculinization. The observed prevalence was 7.31%, 8.8 times higher than the estimated prevalence in Minas Gerais, which is 0.85%. Of the 83 positive animals, 71 (85.5%) were diagnosed in a single property, located in the municipality of Ipuiúna. The scarce data on the disease in the country, added to what was observed in this study, suggest that the number of animals affected is greater than the number reported in official publications.
