Abstract

Cotton is the common name given to several species of the botanical genus Gossypium Hirsutum L. From the Malvaceae family. There are about 40 species, shrubs, native to subtropical and tropical regions. Cotton is a shrub widely cultivated all over the world, first of all for its fiber and in second place for its seeds. The cultivation of cotton makes it possible to generate employment and income for large and small farmers, showing itself as a potential crop to be inserted in crop rotation contributing to the sustainable exploitation of the cultivation area. Belonging to the Malvaceae family, it is a plant angiosperm, dicotyledonous, native to Asia and Africa.
