Systemic lupus erythematosus is an immune-mediated disease of unknown etiology that has a genetic predisposition, hormonal and immunological involvement and ultraviolet radiation. Clinical treatment is often a challenge, due to the variety of symptoms that are similar in other dermatological and systemic pathologies; for the development of the diagnosis, the symptoms of the disease, the patient's history and specific tests are necessary.
