Abstract
The canary of the land (sicalis flaveola) traditionally imprisoned by the indigenous people for its beautiful song, has six to nine pairs of syringeal muscles, which gives it greater vocalization. The males have a bright orange core and brown wings and the females are yellowish-chested and whitish in the belly, and the puppies have the same color as the female until six months of age. A balanced diet is essential for the well-being and reproductive success of passerines, and it is necessary that birds in captivity be fed basically with seeds and fruits. Various types of seeds are available such as millet, birdseed, oats, niger, flaxseed, hemp and password. The reproductive period of passerines in captivity usually occurs in spring and summer, the place has both well-lit, relative humidity of 60%, airy, with no draft and temperature around 25ºC.
