Abstract

This work aims to report the use of ozone as a treatment for wounds and the importance of its uses, this therapy has several application routes, such as major and minor auto-hemotherapy, rectal insufflation, topically with the use of compresses or plastic bags, and ozonized oils and several literatures report that the topical administration route and ozonized oils are the most used in equine wounds, since a large portion of these wounds are treated by second intention, and this direct application to the lesion increase its power of action because its analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects, accelerate the healing and regeneration of these lesions, however, like all other therapies, ozone also has its contraindications, such as gas inhalation, in its use together with the saline solution, hypothyroidism and anemia, so it is extremely important that the entire procedure is carried out by a veterinarian specialized in ozone therapy, to avoid armos any future complications.
