Sistemas de gestão ambiental e seus impactos sociais

Abstract

The rapid population growth that occurred in the world since the Industrial Revolution has led to an increasing demand for the consumption of renewable or non-renewable natural resources. In this logic, the use of such resources, associated with the growing need for goods and food, implied an increase in the potential environmental impact, that is, pollution, since the surplus materials were simply discarded and the environment was in charge of absorbing them. This development model has been used since the beginning of human history and for a long time it proved to be reasonable, as there was no perception of pollution (SCHWANKE, 2013).
