Abstract

This article aims to establish a relationship between the coffee culture and the economy in the south of Minas Gerais. It is a growing coffee crop, with influence in the income of small producers with the use of family labor and agricultural equipment state-of-the-art, based on coffee, one of the products of global relevance both in terms of economic and social aspects. The generation of employment is seasonal, according to the period of the harvest and the year. In the state of Minas Gerais, around 4 million jobs are generated, being most in the southern region of the state to employ from rural areas to cooperatives, corresponding to about 30% of the production cost and 40% of the labor employed. THE coffee production is estimated at 33.5 million bags in the 2020 harvest, equivalent to 52% of national production. Consequently, the estimated value of exports to other countries as the USA, Germany and Japan obtained an estimated value of 27 million bags moving 3.5 billion dollars.
