Abstract
Brazil ended 2019 with more than a quarter of its
adult population in obesity, according to a study published by IBGE (Institute
Brazilian Geography and Statistics), with young people aged 20 or over
going from 12.2% to 26.8% between 2002/2003 and 2019 (IBGE, 2019).
Obesity can be simply defined as a
excessive accumulation of body fat, which can cause harm to the
physical health, such as cardiovascular diseases, breathing difficulties,
increase in blood pressure as much as it can cause harm to health
