Abstract

You want to know if the Supreme Court (STF) has the power to ban again the vaquejadas granted by the National Congress through Constitutional Amendment No. 96 of June 6, 2017, responsible for adding §7 to art. 225 of CF/88 with the following wording: "For the purposes of the provisions of the final part of item VII of paragraph 1 of this article, sports practices that use animals are not considered cruel, provided they are cultural manifestations, according to paragraph 1 of art . 215 of this Federal Constitution, registered as an immaterial asset that is part of the Brazilian cultural heritage, and must be regulated by a specific law that ensures the welfare of the animals involved”.
