Abstract
Anesthesia in pregnant females is a major challenge for the veterinarian, since anesthetic protocols must have characteristics that promote minor changes.
physiology in the mother and fetus. Currently, epidural anesthesia in pregnant canine females has been performed more frequently in small animal surgery, due to the fact that the local anesthetics decrease the use of inhaled and intravenous anesthetics, reduce trans-anesthetic stress, provide central pain inhibition, promoting smaller changes cardiorespiratory and residual postoperative analgesia.
