Abstract
Patients with breast neoplasms suffer from pain both from the neoplasm itself and from its surgical treatment, mastectomy, which consists of a very aggressive surgical procedure that often causes central sensitization due to repeated stimuli to peripheral nociceptors. In view of greater comfort and quality in surgery and recovery of these patients, it is necessary to use an analgesic protocol appropriate to the level of pain to which the patient is subjected. In Veterinary Medicine, opioid drugs are frequently used to treat pain in various situations, effective and safe agents, such as Remifentanil. This case report addresses its use in an anesthetic protocol, which helps trans and postoperative analgesia and leads to a reduction in doses of injectable anesthetic drugs and in alveolar concentration.
