dc.description.abstractThere are numerous benefits and some risks when it comes to new technologies, but the purpose of this article is to convey the risks and benefits regarding the use of LED lamps in general lighting. Few people are aware of the risks that white LEDs bring to our eyes, as we are talking about bulbs that emit harmful blue light filtered by a phosphor layer that turns it white, but there is still a potential risk due to the spectrum of blue color that radiates from these light sources and causes retinal problems when improperly exposed for long periods of time. On the other hand, LED lighting brings several benefits, making this modality viable and ecologically correct.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoExistem inúmeros benefícios e alguns riscos quando o assunto são novas tecnologias, mas o objetivo deste artigo é transparecer os riscos e benefícios a respeito da utilização de lâmpadas LED na iluminação geral. Poucas pessoas possuem conhecimento sobre os riscos que os LED’s brancos trazem para nossos olhos, pois, estamos falando de lâmpadas que emitem luz azul nociva filtrada por uma camada de fósforo que a deixa branca, mas ainda sim existe um risco em potencial graças ao espectro de cor azul que é irradiado dessas fontes de luz e que nos causam problemas na retina quando expostas indevidamente por longos períodos de tempo. Por outro lado, a iluminação por LED trás vários benefícios tornando assim essa modalidade viavelmente e ecologicamente correta.pt_BR
