Abstract
Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease caused by parasites of the genus Eimeira and Isospora that affect the digestive epithelium, generating inflammation in the intestinal mucosa leading to self-limiting anorexia, diarrhea accompanied by blood and intestinal tissue fragments. It mainly affects younger animals from three weeks to six months of age, and may affect older animals when population density is high, when the load of ingested oocysts is large or when animals are subjected to stress, concomitant diseases or weak immunity. . It has a low lethality rate, but it is largely responsible for serious losses in the area of livestock.production causing great economic damage, however, animals that were or are exposed and infected by coccidia may not show clinical signs, being a disease often asymptomatic and self-limiting.
