Abstract

The cotton plant is the common name given to several species of the botanical genus Gossypium Hirsutum L. From the Malvaceae family. There are around 40 species, shrubs, native to subtropical and tropical regions. The cotton plant is a shrub widely cultivated throughout the world, primarily for its fiber and in second place for its seeds. Cotton cultivation enables the generation of employment and income for large and small farmers, showing themselves as a potential crop to be included in crop rotation contributing to sustainable exploitation of the cultivation area. Belonging to the Malvaceae family, it is a plant angiosperm, dicotyledonous, native to the Asian and African continent.
