Abstract

Cryptococcosis is a disease caused by Criptococcus neofarmans that occurs in most animal species. The respiratory tract is the gateway to this microorganism, reaching up to the central nervous system resulting in ataxias and parias. The lesions vary in size, but it is difficult to find large ulcerations or fungus masses. There are diagnoses used to monitor a response to treatment such as serological tests; however, serology can be used as a definitive diagnosis in cases of disclosure of microorganisms. Due precautions are necessary in relation to the handling of animals with this disease, even considering that the process does not appear to be a zoonosis.
