Leptospirosis is a zoonosis associated with close contact between animals and humans, and can be transmitted through contact with contaminated water or healthy animals with animals. infected. Domestic dogs are the main source of human leptospirosis infection, as these animals live in direct contact with humans. This paper reviews the disease, addressing the main aspects related to the etiological agent, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, prophylaxis, and finally a warning about its importance for public health.

Lyme disease is a zoonosis caused by the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi that is transmitted by the tick Ixodid. It shows multisystemic signs in the dog, but the main report is lameness, due to polyarthritis. Its diagnosis of choice is the enzyme immunoassay, indirect ELISA along with clinical signs. Prophylaxis consists of avoiding contact with the tick in endemic areas and in these regions it is also possible to institute the use of the vaccine. Affected animals are treated with antibiotic therapy.

Hemangiossarcoma como causa de hemopericárdio em cão
(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) BITTENCOURT, Édina; MOURA, Veridiana M.B. Dignani de; BANDARRA, Enio P.
Hemangiosarcoma is a malignant neoplasm of endothelial cells, common in elderly dogs. The present work describes the case of a hemangiosarcoma located in the right atrium, liver and spleen of a 12-year-old dog with a history of sudden death. The necroscopic examination revealed rupture of the atrial and hemopericardial neoplasia. Histopathological and immunohistochemical tests allowed the definitive diagnosis of the neoplasm.

Chondrosarcoma is the second most common malignant matrix-producing bone tumor. It consists of irregular and disordered masses of immature cartilage that invade the tissues and metastasize through the lymphatic and blood circulations. It affects all species, but is more common in adult dogs of large breeds and in sheep.

The corpse of a dog of the Dobermann breed, female, approximately eight years old, cachectic, dehydrated and with a history of increased volume in the last nine months, was referred to the Pathology Service of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine '' Octávio Bastos '' progressive in the cervical region. Subjected to necroscopic examination, it was observed that the cervical mass occupied the parotid region and at the cut presented bloody mucus content located in connective tissue stores, infiltrating the adjacent tissues; collected material and processed for histopathological examination, allowed the diagnosis of papillary adenocarcinoma of the salivary gland, in addition to pulmonary congestion and edema, and the liver showed periportal fibrosis, dilation of the sinusoid spaces and hepatic necrosis.

Four Rotweiller dog prostates were used, neonates analyzed macro and microscopically. They were anatomically positioned, caudally after the urinary bladder, entering the pelvic bone. They showed a tissue mass surrounding the pelvic urethra. They had two wolves measuring 0.9 cm long and 0.6 cm wide, with a volume of 0.82 ml, and weight 0.80 g. Histologically, the prostatic body was covered by connective tissue and tubule - alveolar portions were observed whose alveoli were covered by an epithelium not yet defined. The stroma had dense non-modeled connective tissue surrounding the secretory portion and muscle fibers. Among the wolves, we observe the prostatic urethra.

    Linfoma canino
(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) VIEIRA, Priscila M.; BANDARRA, Enio Pedone; MOURA, Veridiana M. B. D. de; BITTENCOURT Édina
Lymphomas are malignant neoplasms characterized by the proliferation of lymphocytes, histiocytes and their precursors and derivatives. In dogs the etiology is considered spontaneous, unlike what happens in human, feline, bovine, birds and some primates, where the etology can be viral. It affects adult dogs to the elderly, with no gender predisposition, but there is evidence that the racial factor should be considered. They can be classified according to anatomical shape, cytohistological characteristics and immunophenotype. The most frequent anatomical form is multicentric, which presents as generalized and painless lymphadenopathy. Intermediate and high grade lymphomas are the most common, however the literature presents varied data regarding the frequency of the immunophenotype T or B. Clinical signs vary according to the neoplasia's localization.

    Toxoplasmose canina: relato de caso
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2011-05-30) SAWADA, Marina Lie; SILVA, Ana Paula Teixeira da; PINHEIRO, Alessandra de Oliveira; TORRES, Maria Lúcia Marcucci
Toxoplasmosis is a worldwide polysystemic disease that has the mandatory intracellular coccid Toxoplasma gondii as its etiological agent. This protozoan can infect all warm-blooded animals, including man. Felids are classified as definitive hosts while the other homeothermic animals are intermediate hosts. The three main routes of transmission are congenital infection, eating raw or undercooked meat infected with tissue cysts and eating food and / or water contaminated with oocysts. Other routes of transmission that can also be considered, but that occur less frequently are unpasteurized milk, blood transfusion and organ transplantation. The primary infection by T. gondii can be asymptomatic in some animals, including man, however, as the parasite is encysted in the musculature, the disease may reappear when the animal is subjected to stressful situations, glucocorticoid therapy or is affected by another condition. immunodepressor. Dogs can be considered an important source of infection for man, because due to the proximity between humans and their dogs and the fact that dogs are quite curious animals, they can rub themselves in substances such as cat feces, becoming parasite carriers.
