    Ética na experimentação animal
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) GARCIA, Cláudia Fernanda Ribeiro; HUCKE, Erica Engelberg Teixeira da Silva
The use of animals in scientific experimentation has been known since the dawn of humanity and has been driven by the constant search for knowledge. Thus, the use of laboratory animals has been of great importance in scientific and technological development, which culminated in discoveries of medicines, surgical procedures, among others, improving the living conditions of people and animals. However, the scientific community has been increasingly demanded in relation to the need to use animals in scientific research and the animal suffering so imposed. If, on the one hand, there are the most radical ones who totally repudiate any type of animal experimentation, we cannot fail to see the enormous contribution made by animals in this regard, placing humanity in a position of gratitude and respect, as well as imposing an ethical conduct by researchers . Therefore, this literature review aims to show the importance of ethics in animal experimentation.

The study of animal behavior is growing more and more due to the concern that exists in several countries with the preservation of animal welfare in general, and especially in production systems, as the conditions of animal breeding reflect directly on the quality of products generated by them. The relationship between animal welfare and animal production, in particular milk has been highlighted in recent studies, and the evaluation of animal welfare in milk production systems focuses on the quality of life of these farm animals and consequently the quality of the milk produced, taking into account economic, ethnic, social and environmental factors. In this way, the present research project intends to reveal the importance of behavioral studies, using sheep as an experimental model, with the objective of evaluating their behavior when subjected to mechanical milking management, electing possible indicators of well-being in these conditions as well as the interference of milking management under the maternal filial relationship.

Therapy assisted or mediated by human-animal interaction has been the subject of numerous studies. TAA was used, for the first time, empirically by Willian Tuke, in 1792, by the institution York Retreat and in the 70s and 80s the organization DELTA SOCIETY in the USA and Society for the Study of Companion Animals (SCAS) in England, were the main organizations for training multidisciplinary professional teams for TAA and volunteers for AAA (Assisted Activity by Animals). Zootherapy has, in the animal, a co-therapist in the therapeutic intervention process, that is, in the improvement of the social, emotional, physical and / or cognitive function of human patients. The multidisciplinary team has similarities in objectives regarding human and animal welfare. Due to the expectation of future longevity for humans, this research aims to: assess whether TAA promotes change in the biopsychosocial framework of institutionalized elderly people. An action research was carried out in an institution where 25 elderly people live, 60% women and 40% men with an average age between 70 and 80. There were visits by a dog to TAA. The place already had an aquarium and birds. The behavior of the elderly was evaluated before the visit with the animals, during and after. It can be concluded that the relationship between the multidisciplinary team and the elderly showed a better relationship and greater socialization after the dog's visits.
