Item A fisiologia do ciclo estral da fêmea canina: Revisão bibliográfica(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2024-10-09) CADETIO, Giovana Carneiro; CONCEIÇÃO, Juliana Costa Zuppi daFemale dogs are monoestrous domestic non-seasonal species that do not depend on the season to ovulate and, therefore, their ovulation is spontaneous. The estrous cycle of female dogs is not something concrete, as each female dog has its own cycle and specific behavior in each reproductive phase. Puberty varies between six and 10 months in small dogs and eight to 24 months in large dogs. The reproductive cycle of female dogs is divided into four distinct stages: i) proestrus (lasting five to 20 days); ii) estrus (lasting four to 12 days); iii) diestrus (lasting 60 days); and iv) anestrus (lasting 120 to 240 days). Ovulation occurs in the face of a high dose of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and can last from 48 to 60 hours after the peaks of these hormones. Diagnosis of the phases of the estrous cycle is performed through complementary exams such as vaginal cytology, hormone level measurement (progesterone and estrogen), ultrasound and vaginoscopy. The behavior of the dog will depend on which phase of the reproductive cycle she is in, since each phase has a predisposing hormone that causes changes and modifications in her behavior and reproductive anatomy. In view of this, it is important to seek to improve more effective methods for diagnosing the different phases of the estrous cycle. This could include research and development of new diagnostic techniques that are more accurate, faster and accessible to veterinarians.Item Efeito do estresse sobre a secreção de prolactina em ratas nulíparas e primíparas no estro(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2011-05-30) CARLOS, Camila Zeferino; ZIMBERKNOPF, EricaThe reproductive experience (set of pregnancy, childbirth and lactation), is associated with changes in hormone secretion, reducing hormones such as steroids and prolactin. Prolactin plays an important role in the reproductive process, especially in lactation, controlling the production and composition of milk. This hormone responds to stressful stimuli, and its response is dependent on blood prolactin concentrations before stress. The relationship between animal welfare and animal production, in particular milk has been highlighted in recent studies, and the evaluation of animal welfare in milk production systems focuses on the quality of life of these farm animals and consequently the quality of the milk produced, taking into account economic, ethnic, social and environmental factors. In this way, the present research project intends to reveal the importance of behavioral studies, using sheep as an experimental model, with the objective of evaluating their behavior when subjected to mechanical milking management, electing possible indicators of well-being in these conditions as well as the interference of milking management under the maternal filial relationship.Item Efeito do Diazepam sobre a resposta comportamental ao estresse em ratas nulíparas e primíparas(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2008-11-30) GARCIA, Claudia Fernanda Ribeiro; HUCKE, Erica Elgelberg da SilvaThe reproductive experience (ER), that is, the set of pregnancy, childbirth and lactation, is associated with changes in hormone secretion, reducing, for example, steroids and prolactin, possibly for the rest of a female's life. It has been shown that responses to stress are related to the behavioral expression of anxiety in the elevated plus-maze, since stress has an anxiogenic effect in this experimental model, and that both responses to stress and anxiety can be permanently modified according to the RE. In addition, it has been previously demonstrated that the sensitivity of primiparous females to stress can be reduced. Thus, this research project aims to continue previous studies in our laboratory about RE and its relationship with anxiety and stress, by studying the behavior of rats in the elevated plus-maze, evaluating the effect of diazepam.
