Orchiectomy is a procedure that removes the animal's testicles, promoting docility and better social interaction, and also treats pathologies of the reproductive system. Quality anesthesia is essential to avoid complications and ensure animal welfare. In the anesthetic context, α2 adrenergic agonists are widely used in horses for sedation and analgesia. During orchiectomy, local anesthesia with lidocaine reduces blood pressure response and relieves muscle tension, complementing general anesthesia. In horses, anesthetic procedures are crucial for safe interventions. Through this work, we propose to report a successful castration in a horse, with positive results and good recovery, which was treated at the UNIFEOB Veterinary Center.

O uso do Remifentanil na Anestesiologia Veterinária
(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) CHANQUETTE, Maria Vitória Marchenta; MARINO, Ana Júlia Fornari; LANDGRAF, Leticia Chaim; BONFANTE, Juliana da Silva
In Veterinary Medicine, opioids are frequently used to treat pain in different situations. These opioid analgesics, which are effective and safe agents, such as Remifentanil, a synthetic selective μ receptor agonist drug, which has a particularity in its chemical composition, which helps to prevent pain and consequently hemodynamic stability during its use. in surgical procedures, allowing its administration in addition to bolus, continuous intravenous infusion for prolonged periods. Its use in anesthetic protocols helps pre, intra and postoperative analgesia and leads to a reduction in injectable anesthetic drug doses, in the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of inhalation anesthetics and in a decrease in the rate of propofol infusion in total intravenous anesthesia ( TIVA).

Anestesia e analgesia epidural em cães
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) KIRCHHEIMER, Vinícius; BELO, Juliana Noda Bechara
Epidural anesthesia is regional, segmental and temporary anesthesia, produced by anesthetic drugs in different concentrations and doses, deposited in the epidural space. Knowledge of the dog's anatomy is required to perform the procedure. Several drugs can be used to minimize side effects obtained when general anesthesia is performed. It acts on the caudal part of the diaphragm, and any surgical procedure can be performed in this region and, when associated with inhalation anesthesia, it reduces the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC). Epidural anesthesia reduces transoperative stress. It serves to control pain and analgesia before, during and after surgery. It is a simple technique, which does not require sophisticated materials or equipment, and is of low cost, and its use is feasible in routine clinics. It can be used in epidural anesthesia, local anesthetics, opioids, -2 adrenergic agonists, benzodiazepines, phencyclidine derivatives and combinations of these drugs.

Cesarean surgery is generally an emergency procedure, and the anesthetic technique used must be safe for both mother and fetuses. The pregnant female has some physiological particularities, including cardiovascular changes, in respiratory function and gastroenteric system. Among the drugs used in pre-anesthetic medication, opioids are appropriate choices and attention should be paid to their adverse effects. Benzodiazepines can be used, but with caution. In induction, propofol and etomidate are the most indicated, to the detriment of dissociatives and barbiturates. In maintenance, the drugs of choice are isofluorane and sevofluorane, since halothane causes major fetal depression. Regional anesthesia techniques, such as epidural anesthesia, are of great value, greatly improving fetal vigor and decreasing the amount of inhaled anesthetic for pregnant women.

Aspectos importantes na anestesia de Lagomorfos
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2017-09-30) OLIVEIRA, Amabily R. Ramos de; PASSINI,Ynara; PAGANI, Caroline de Paula; HATSCHBACH, Eduardo
The wild animal clinic has been growing significantly, especially in the lagomorph clinic, because these animals are no longer handled only for experiments, the food industry and hunting. Today, they are considered family members and their guardians are concerned about safety and well-being during clinical, surgical and anesthetic procedures, which are constantly performed for preventive medicine and treatments. Therefore, it is very important to know the anatomy and physiology of this species, as well as the important aspects that should be taken during anesthesia and which are the most used drugs, aiming at greater safety for these patients. Although there is a shortage of secure information for pet rabbits, it is possible to develop appropriate protocols and define the most important points that should be followed during anesthesia.

Anestesia total intravenosa em equinos submetidos a procedimentos a campo
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-30) CHIARADIA, Giovana Baggio; PAGANI, Caroline de Paula; BONFANTE, Juliana da Silva; HATSCHBACH, Eduardo
Total intravenous anesthesia in equine species as well as field procedures are currently gaining ground in veterinary medicine because they prove to be safe, practical and low cost procedures, making it feasible without having to move the animal to specialized centers containing anesthesia devices. inhalation. Thus, it ensures diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures such as castrations, tenotomies, splint removal and repair of lacerations in a safe manner for the animal and the acting Veterinarian, remembering that it is extremely important to be aware of the place to be performed. In a way that is comfortable and maintains the physical integrity of the animal, the drugs of choice as well as doses and concentrations for smooth and stress-free recovery and injury, patient monitoring is critical as the animal will not be intubated or given ventilatory support.

Nowadays the alterations of the locomotor system in horses have been growing, since, increasingly, they are exposed to sports activities. However, the impact remains of great relevance to its good performance, being often the exact place of limb involvement that is difficult to diagnose. The purpose of perineural block for the diagnosis of lameness is to provide analgesia to a limb region, causing the animal to temporarily decrease lameness, provided that this anesthetized region is responsible for lameness, thus allowing the location of the probable thirst. injury, which may be investigated by other ancillary methods in order to complete the diagnosis.

Nowadays it is becoming more common for people to adopt as pets, exotic animals, increasing the occurrence rate of several diseases due to mismanagement or even lack of knowledge about the species. In this context the Veterinarian should always be updated on exotic animal medicine, which among the various exotic species is the African Pygmy Hedgehog (Atelerix albiventris). This report describes the case of an African pygmy hedgehog, with signs of motor incoordination, which underwent inhalation anesthesia for better positioning for radiographic projections, thus resulting in the diagnosis of the possible cause of incoordination.
