- Item Osteossarcoma em cães: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) HONÓRIO, Vinicius M.; CUSTÓDIO, Mariana M.; RODRIGUES, Rafaela F.; GONÇALVES, Brenna M.C. N.Osteosarcoma (OSA) is the most common malignant bone neoplasm found in small animal clinics, being locally invasive, rapidly metastatic and aggressive in nature. Histologically it is composed of anaplastic mesenchymal cells that produce osteoid. It generally affects the long bones found in the appendicular skeleton of large dogs.giant size, between 5 and 9 years old, but can also affect bones of the axial skeleton such as ribs, vertebrae, skull and jaw bones. The animal will present with acute or chronic pain, lameness and edema in the affected limb. Due to bone weakness, pathological fractures may occur during the development of the disease. Although the diagnosis of OSA is normally based on clinical history and radiographic findings, histopathological examination and cytology are necessary for more reliable confirmation. To prevent this neoplasm from reaching other regions, it is It is recommended to amputate the affected limb, with a safety margin, associated with chemotherapy or radiotherapy sessions, with the aim of prolonging the animal's life and well-being. To control pain, the use of analgesics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be essential, but in most cases it is necessary to use opioids. The prognosis is generally poor, but will depend on how the animal responds to treatment. The objective of this review is to report on neoplasia in issue, in order to allow you to provide quality of life for the affected dog.
- Item Abordagens clinicas e aspectos patológicos relacionados relacionados ao hemangiossarcoma cardíaco em cães: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) TAGLIAFERRO, Karoline Saturnino; VARGAS, Thiago Henrique MoroniHemangiosarcoma is characterized by being a malignant neoplasm originating from the mesenchymal tissue of endothelial cells, being an important measurement in dogs, as it manifests itself in several organs, including the heart, in a primary or secondary way (through metastasis). In the heart, this disease can be observed in the walls of the right atrium, and, eventually, in the right ventricle. Cardiac hemangiosarcoma may have clinical signs, mainly cardiac tamponade, right heart failure, pericardial effusion and cardiac arrhythmia, however, such signs may vary according to the size of the tumor. In relation to etiopathogenesis and oncogenesis, they have not yet been well clarified, where their origin indicates that they are from bone marrow precursor endothelial cells, and it is also worth highlighting the association with hereditary predisposition. Furthermore, its diagnosis is difficult to conclude, as the changes are not well visualized in exams, such as radiography, laboratory and cytological analyzes of the pericardial fluid, due to the difficult cell differentiation in the effusion. Therefore, definitive diagnosis includes thoracotomy or thoracoscopy, together with biopsy. Regarding treatment, surgical or chemotherapy methods can be taken, such as performing exploratory thoracotomy to resect the tumor mass, respecting safety margins. While chemotherapy includes the interaction of vincristine, doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide, it is more advisable to administer it immediately after the surgical procedure. Therefore, the aim of this work was to highlight and analyze clinical and pathological aspects of this disease, taking into account literary data related to cardiac hemangiosarcoma in dogs.
- Item Osteossarcoma apendicular em cães: revisão bibliográfica(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) RIBEIRO, Veridiana Pereira Alves; CARRIJO, Jacqueline Ohana Vaz; BIBIANO, Milena; ROCHA, Livia Maria de SouzaOsteosarcoma is the most common primary bone tumor in dogs. Developing in nearly 75% of cases in long bones is known as appendicular osteosarcoma. Often seen in large, fast-growing dogs, it usually affects middle-aged to elderly dogs that initially present with acute or chronic lameness and swelling in the affected limb. Although the most used diagnostic method is radiographic examination, biopsy with histopathological analysis is essential to confirm the diagnosis. Limb amputation rarely results in a cure, so alternative treatments (chemotherapy) and palliative care should be used for animals affected by metastasis.
- Item Insulimona em animais domésticos: revisão de literatura(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) VIEIRA, Evelin Fukumoto; PINTO, Amanda Silva; PULZ, Lidia HildebrandInsulinoma is a neoplasm that affects dogs and cats, especially dogs, most often has a malignant character. It is found in the pancreas in the beta cells of the Islets of Langerhans. Its main feature is the high deposition of insulin in the body, causing hypoglycemia in the animal. It is an aggressive and pertinent neoplasm, so physical examinations, anamnesis and complementary exams are essential for the final diagnosis. This way, you can design the best treatment plan for the patient. The objective of this work is to present the main characteristics of this pathology from a literature review.
- Item Episioplastia em cadela como tratamento de lipoma perivulvar: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) STECK, Lourenço; RODRIGUES, Talita Oliveira; SOUZA, Mariely Thaís deLipoma is a benign tumor classified as a mesenchymal neoplasm, which originates from adipocytes and is located inside or even invades the skin and subcutaneous tissue. IT IS diagnosis is made through observation of clinical signs and complementary tests such as blood count, serum biochemistry, imaging tests, cytology exam. Usually the treatment of choice is surgery through tumor removal and if the excision is incomplete it can be associated with radiotherapy. Great Dane breed, aged 8 years, that the owner complained of a progressive increase in volume in the vulvar and perivulvar region for about a year. Ultrasonographic and cytological examination both showed suggestive of lipoma. The recommended treatment was surgery, through mass removal, and vulvoplasty. After approximately 20 days, it was verified that the animal had already returned to its normal routine, without showing signs of recurrence. Based on the data produced, it is concluded that the provisional diagnosis was obtained through cytological examination and the treatment performed was surgical removal through vulvoplasty. The prognosis for this type of neoplasm is considered favorable for well-circumscribed lipomas, since recurrences are not frequent.
- Item Carcinoma de células escamosas em equino na região infra orbitária: relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) FARIA, Maéli Ribeiro de; ALVIM, Talita Gonçalves; SANTOS, Thayná Franco dos; AGUIAR, Julia Fernandes; BERALDO, Mariana Ramos AndradeSquamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a cutaneous and malignant neoplasm that affects keratinocytes and commonly affects horses. The etiology of SCC is considered multifactorial, and the majority of lesions are associated with hairless and/or depigmented regions and excessive sun exposure with high local ultraviolet radiation. Macroscopically, this neoplasm may have ulcerations, granulation tissue, a cauliflower appearance or be a firm mass, and invasive growth. The most effective treatment is complete removal of the neoplasm, however, when it is not possible to do so, there is therapeutic treatment. The present work reports a case of a horse, female, 11 years old, chestnut coat, Breton, which was treated at the Veterinary Hospital Dr. Vicente Borelli UNIFEOB. The animal had a neoformation in the ocular region and presented acute abdomen syndrome during treatment, which led to the decision to perform euthanasia.
- Item Eritrocitose decorrente de neoplasia em cão: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) GOMES, Gislaine de Cássia; VARZIM, Fernanda Leme S.B.Erythrocytoses are characterized by an increase in the number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin concentration and globular volume (VG or hematocrit) above the normal assessed for each species, race, sex and age. The globular volume above 50% characterizes a more viscous blood making it difficult to transport oxygen. This paper reports the case of a female dog, Sheepdog, 9 years old, who was seen at the Veterinary Hospital “Vicente Borelli” in São João da Boa Vista, SP, and who had a transmissible venereal tumor, abdominal neoplasia in ovary, uterus, spleen and lymph node . The blood counts performed significantly helped in the diagnosis, proving the association of these neoplasms with the erythrocyte alterations, called erythrocytosis.
- Item Aspectos clinico patológicos e alterações laboratoriais do linfoma multicêntrico canino: uma breve revisão de literatura(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2017-09-30) BERALDO, Mariana Ramos Andrade; FRanco, Débora Quioqueti de Souza; VARZIM, Fernanda L. S. B.; PULZ, Lidia HildebrandLymphoma is a neoplasm characterized by proliferation of malignant lymphoid cells, which can develop in any organ, initially affecting lymph nodes, spleen and liver. Its cause is not well understood, but it is believed in multifactorial etiology, genetic factors, immune deficiency and chemical carcinogens. There are four anatomical classifications for lymphoma: multicenter, digestive, mediastinal and extranodal, and 80% of cases in dogs are multicenter lymphomas. The diagnosis is based on cytological, histological and molecular biology analyzes, which help establish the prognosis of the animal considering the degree of lymphoma malignancy and the cell type of origin. Laboratory tests such as hematological and biochemical profile provide data for animal follow-up, disease involvement and staging. In view of the above, it is clear that lymphoma is a very important condition in dogs, and the reduction of the theoretical basis in relation to the clinical presentation of lymphoma is able to establish a successful bridge for both the clinician with alterations capable of generate an early diagnosis, both for the patient regarding their quality of life and survival.
