- Item Acupuntura na Medicina Veterinária em pequenos animais: Revisão bibliográfica(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2024-10-09) BENASSI, Lívia Araújo; PAIVA, Jhenifer Antonucci; GONÇALVES, Brenna Maria Cyrino NogueiraAcupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy that uses specific points throughout the body, called acupoints, to insert needles and/or transfer heat to defined areas of the skin. This, through nerve stimulation, triggers responses in other areas of the body with a cascade of local, regional or systemic physiological effects, with the purpose of correcting possible energy imbalances responsible for causing diseases and/or pain. In veterinary medicine, there are 32 simple points and 40 bilateral points that are most commonly used in small animals. The points can be stimulated through various techniques in addition to traditional acupuncture, such as moxibustion, acuinjection, electroacupuncture, among others. The most commonly used techniques are used to control pain, and may also have significant effects in the treatment or adjuvant therapy in animals with neurological dysfunctions and/or sequelae, musculoskeletal dysfunctions or even behavioral disorders such as anxiety, aggression and fear in small animals. Acupuncture has been shown to be a safe, effective therapy with no side effects. Therefore, this study performs a literature review with the aim of elucidating the techniques and uses of acupuncture in small animals within veterinary medicine, emphasizing numerous benefits as an adjuvant treatment in various pathologies within the clinical routine.
- Item Anestesia parcialmente intravenosa para enucleação ocular em equino com realização de bloqueio zigomático, lacrimal, supraorbitário, troclear e retrobulbar: relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) OCTAVIANO, Giovanna Marquitti; BORGES JÚNIOR, Darcy Vilhena; JACKSON, Giulia Stefani; CHANQUETTE, Maria Vitória Marchenta; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaPain is an unpleasant sensorial and emotional experience, which causes physiological changes in the animal, impairing the quality of life and prolonging the rehabilitation period, which is why veterinarians are constantly challenged to evaluate and treat pain. Anesthetic blocks reduce the need for general anesthetics and analgesics in the postoperative period, and for these reasons, they are widely used in large animals. This case report addresses the main obstacles to enucleation of the eyeball, the best drugs to use and a greater understanding of the technique.
- Item Anestesia geral com o uso de Remifentanil em cadela submetida a mastectomia parcial associada a ovariohisterectomia: relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) CHANQUETTE, Maria Vitória Marchenta; JACKSON, Giulia Stefani; BORGES JÚNIOR, Darcy Vilhena; OCTAVIANO, Giovana Marquiti; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaPatients with breast neoplasms suffer from pain both from the neoplasm itself and from its surgical treatment, mastectomy, which consists of a very aggressive surgical procedure that often causes central sensitization due to repeated stimuli to peripheral nociceptors. In view of greater comfort and quality in surgery and recovery of these patients, it is necessary to use an analgesic protocol appropriate to the level of pain to which the patient is subjected. In Veterinary Medicine, opioid drugs are frequently used to treat pain in various situations, effective and safe agents, such as Remifentanil. This case report addresses its use in an anesthetic protocol, which helps trans and postoperative analgesia and leads to a reduction in doses of injectable anesthetic drugs and in alveolar concentration. minimum (MAC) of inhalants, providing hemodynamic stability during their use in surgical procedures.
- Item O uso do Remifentanil na Anestesiologia Veterinária(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) CHANQUETTE, Maria Vitória Marchenta; MARINO, Ana Júlia Fornari; LANDGRAF, Leticia Chaim; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaIn Veterinary Medicine, opioids are frequently used to treat pain in different situations. These opioid analgesics, which are effective and safe agents, such as Remifentanil, a synthetic selective μ receptor agonist drug, which has a particularity in its chemical composition, which helps to prevent pain and consequently hemodynamic stability during its use. in surgical procedures, allowing its administration in addition to bolus, continuous intravenous infusion for prolonged periods. Its use in anesthetic protocols helps pre, intra and postoperative analgesia and leads to a reduction in injectable anesthetic drug doses, in the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of inhalation anesthetics and in a decrease in the rate of propofol infusion in total intravenous anesthesia ( TIVA).
- Item Uso do ponto Yin Tang como terapia coadjuvante na sedação(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) COUTINHO, Meline de Paula; AGUIAR, Júlia Fernandes; PIRES, Barbara; HATSCHBACH, EduardoWithin the anesthetic practice, tranquilization is closely linked to the balance of vital parameters, interfering in the pre, trans and postoperative period, as it allows for outpatient manipulations, potentiates induction anesthetics and necessary maintenance in numerous situations, from restraints, invasive procedures to practices that lead to stress. In anesthesiology, due to the morphological and physiological diversity found, satisfactory reassurance is a challenging issue. As an integrative therapy used concomitantly with already traditional protocols, there is pharmacopuncture, prolonging and potentiating the drugs and allowing the use of subdoses in the sedation. This literature review aims to highlight the use of integrative medicine, more specifically pharmacopuncture, as a highly effective tool in the sedation of various species.
- Item Uso do sulfato de magnésio na anestesiologia veterinária(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) OLIVEIRA, Amabily R. Ramos de; CARVALHO, Barbara Pires de; BRIDI, Fabíola de Bem; BONFANTE, Juliana da Silva; HATSCHBACH, EduardoMagnesium sulfate has been used for many years in human medicine to control and prevent seizures associated with eclampsia and to inhibit preterm labor in pregnant women. However, its use has been gradually growing in anesthesiology, making its indications broader, being a drug with analgesic and sedative properties with potential for neuro and cardio protection. The objective of this work is to review the physiology and pharmacology of magnesium sulfate, as well as to show its applications and advantages in its use as an adjunct in anesthesia and why one should go in search of new studies of its administration in veterinary medicine.
- Item Uso da cetamina S (+) como adjuvante analgésico em pequenos animais(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) CARVALHO, Barbara Pires; OLIVEIRA, Amabily R. Ramos de; BRIDI, Fabíola de Bem; BONFANTE, Juliana da Silva; HATSCHBACH, EduardoThe care with the health of dogs and cats becomes more and more evident with the socialization of the animal with the human; quality of life and pain control are considered very important aspects, since they are family members. Therefore, veterinarians are dedicated to recognizing and treating pain in animals, since pain perception is difficult to quantify in them. Analgesia is a fundamental issue not only for quality of life, but in pre, trans and post surgery, laboratory tests and clinical routine procedures. Therefore, knowledge of the mechanism of action of drugs that help, as adjuvants, opioids in pain management is essential. Ketamine is a dissociative drug that at low doses has promising prospects in analgesia, blocking the activation of NMDA receptors (N-methyl D-Aspartate), thus inhibiting the binding with glutamate, a nerve impulse transmitter, interrupting the painful sensation and temporarily desensitized her. The objective of this work is to review the properties of the use of ketamine and its isomers in subdoses for general analgesia.
- Item Controle da dor oncológica em pequenos animais: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-01-18) BRIDI, Fabíola de Bem; OLIVEIRA, Amabily R. Ramos de; CARVALHO, Bárbara Pires; BONFANTE, Juliana da Silva; HATSCHBACH, Eduardo; OLIVEIRA, Júlia Bonilha deCancer is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in elderly animals, and pain relief is essential for a better quality of life for the patient and must be done correctly. In order to institute treatment, it is necessary to identify the type of pain, assess the physiological and behavioral changes, location, recognize the patient's physical state, the treatment phase, the limitations and risks of the procedures. Scales and questionnaires are also used to assist the veterinarian. Pain can be treated with different drugs such as anti-inflammatory drugs, opioids, and there are also alternative therapies such as acupuncture and physiotherapy, which help in the process of controlling cancer pain. The present work aims to present a literature review on the control of cancer pain in small animals, highlighting the importance of diagnosing, identifying the physical and behavioral changes in dogs and cats caused by pain and treating it correctly, according to the evolution of the disease. tumor, providing a better quality of life to the animal with cancer.
- Item Anestesia total intravenosa na Medicina Veterinária(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) COSTA, Beatriz S.; ZOGBI, Thays C. S. Cruz; MELO, Victória de; HATSCHBACH EduardoTotal intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) is a technique that consists of induction and maintenance of anesthetic exclusively intravenous anesthetic drugs and medications in patients assigned to surgical procedures, which may be of quick or short duration. This technique has several advantages over inhalation anesthesia, such as the reduction of postoperative side effects, low cumulative effect and no environmental pollution.
- Item Anestesia e analgesia epidural em cães(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) KIRCHHEIMER, Vinícius; BELO, Juliana Noda BecharaEpidural anesthesia is regional, segmental and temporary anesthesia, produced by anesthetic drugs in different concentrations and doses, deposited in the epidural space. Knowledge of the dog's anatomy is required to perform the procedure. Several drugs can be used to minimize side effects obtained when general anesthesia is performed. It acts on the caudal part of the diaphragm, and any surgical procedure can be performed in this region and, when associated with inhalation anesthesia, it reduces the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC). Epidural anesthesia reduces transoperative stress. It serves to control pain and analgesia before, during and after surgery. It is a simple technique, which does not require sophisticated materials or equipment, and is of low cost, and its use is feasible in routine clinics. It can be used in epidural anesthesia, local anesthetics, opioids, -2 adrenergic agonists, benzodiazepines, phencyclidine derivatives and combinations of these drugs.
