Item Carcinoma de células escamosas em glândula AD anal de cão(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) THOMÉ, Helder Esteves; TREVISAN, Bianca Gonçalves; BANDARRA, Enio PedoneA squamous cell carcinoma infiltrating the ad anal gland of a 12-year-old male dog is described. The appearance of adenomas and adenocarcinomas of circal anal glands is more common in this location. It is important to note that the macroscopic aspect of both neoplasms is extremely similar, and the microscope needs to be carefully analyzed, avoiding confusion about the origin of the neoplasms. The rarity of this association justifies the present description, adding data to the national literature on veterinary oncology.Item Efeitos da acepromazina no eletrocardiograma de cães clinicamente saudáveis(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) FRANCO, Marcelo Ferreira; LOURENÇO, Maria Lúcia G.; BECHARA, Juliana N.; BALIEIRO, Júlio Cesar de C.; HENTZ, Arnaldo; LOPES, Paula R.Studies on the effect of Acepromazine on the electrocardiogram are clinically relevant, since the use of this tranquilizer can facilitate electrocardiographic recording without, however, changing the analyzed parameters. The cardiovascular effects of Acepromazine on the electrocardiogram were assessed. Nine healthy dogs were used which, after previous clinical examination, were submitted to Acepromazine tranquilization. The electrocardiographic exam was obtained before the procedure (control) and fifteen minutes after sedation. A significant decrease in heart rate was observed when using the three doses (0.05, 01 and 0.2 mg / kg).Item Displasia do cotovelo em cães(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) SOUZA, Maria Claudia de C. M. I. deElbow dysplasia is among the various causes of lameness resulting from osteoarticular diseases in young dogs. It includes situations such as fragmentation of the coronoid process, non-union of the anechoic process and osteochondrosis of the humeral medial condyle. The diagnosis is suggestive by cynical examination and confirmed by radiographic examination of the elbow. However, some conditions can be diagnosed only based on secondary degenerative joint changes. Surgical intervention is discussed after advanced progression of degenerative joint disease.Item Avaliação andrológica em cães(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) SOUZA, Fernando Augusto Cogo de; OLIVEIRA, Priscila Carvalho deThe andrological examination of dogs is considered a great tool for owners and veterinarians involved in the commercial breeding of dogs, as it allows to properly select animals for breeding, providing data on the fertilizing capacity of each individual.Item Osteosarcoma em um cão: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2011-05-30) CARDOSO, Mariana Três; MARSOLLA, Eduardo Henrique; ROCHA, Lívia M. S.; SILVA, Angélica do Rocio CarvalhoOsteosarcoma is the most common bone neoplasm in the small animal clinic. It can occur in the axial or appendicular skeleton, in which the latter is more frequent. This type of neoplasia is highly aggressive and metastatic, with the lung being the organ most commonly affected by metastasis. The diagnosis is based on clinical signs and symptoms, radiographic exams, aspiration cytology and confirmed by histopathology after biopsy. The treatment with the best results is limb amputation associated with chemotherapy. However, there are reports in the literature citing only chemotherapy with limb preservation, prosthesis placement and grafts. The prognosis is poor and the animal's survival varies from five to nine months.Item Erliquiose monocítica canina: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2011-05-30) OLIVEIRA, Aline Fernandes de; SILVA, Angélica do Rocio CarvalhoCanine ehrlichiosis stands out for its casuistic relevance. Canine monocytic ehrlichiosis is caused by Ehrlichia canis, being transmitted to the animal by the tick Rhipicephalus sanguineus at the time of blood meal. Clinical signs vary with the stage of the disease (acute, subclinical and chronic) and the affected organs and tissues. For the diagnosis of the disease, in addition to the clinical signs that may be suggestive of ehrlichiosis, severe laboratory abnormalities may contribute to the increase in the suspicion of the condition. Doxycycline is the drug of choice for the treatment of the condition, and may vary in relation to dose and treatment time. The case is a nine-month-old Golden Retriever, with a history of tick infestation and nonspecific clinical signs. After treatment with doxycycline and control of ticks, the patient had clinical improvement, with the tests returning to normal for species and the negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR).Item Relação da hiperglicemia com a catarata biabetogênica em cães(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) MARSOLLA, Eduardo H.; FUKUTI, Renata A.; ROCHA, Lívia M. S.; TORRES, Maria L. M.; OLIVEIRA, Priscila C. deDiabetes mellitus, also known as insulin-dependent diabetes, is a metabolic disorder characterized by hypoinsulinemia, meaning the animal's inability to maintain glycemic control. It is the result of the loss of function of the cells of the pancreas, which are responsible for the production of insulin. With the fall of the circulating hormone, it is difficult to transport glucose from the blood to most cells, generating an increase in gluconeogenesis, hepatic glycogenolysis and production of ketone bodies. Cataracts are an important problem in ophthalmology and common in cases of dogs with diabetes mellitus, since glucose saturation directly interferes with osmolarity through sorbitol inside the lens. Cataracts are the opacification of the lens resulting in loss of vision in the affected eye, which is usually bilateral in cases of diabetogenic cataracts and which can result not only in problems with visual impairment, but also in relevant secondary problems including even the loss of the eyeball. Unfortunately, there is no medication available for the treatment of cataracts, but in the case of diabetogenic cataracts, there are drugs that inhibit the enzyme aldose reductase and cause the cataract process to minimize its progression. However, the only viable treatment is surgical, with aspiration / dissection, intracapsular facetomy and phacoemulsification techniques being available to solve the problem.Item Hipotiroidismo em cães(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) AVANÇO, Pâmela de Cássia; TORRES, Maria Lúcia MarcucciPrimary hypothyroidism is an endocrine disorder characterized by destruction of the thyroid resulting in deficiency in the production of hormones T3 and T4 and affecting the body's metabolic processes. Dogs are usually affected during middle age and show lethargy, weight gain, alopecia, pyoderma and seborrhea. As soon as the problem is diagnosed, treatment with synthetic levothyroxine must be initiated and the animal must be monitored periodically through laboratory tests, allowing the control of hormones.Item Demodicose Canina: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) SILVA, Flávia Martins da; SOUZA NETO, José Roberto de; BASTOS, Rafaela Barrios de Moraes; BENATO, Talita Mascarim; TORRES, Maria Lúcia MarcucciDemodicosis is a chronic dermatological disease of genetic predisposition that affects dogs. It is caused by the mite Demodex canis, which is a natural inhabitant of the skin of these animals. The diagnosis is made through skin scraping. An animal of the canine species, female, nine months old, mixed breed, with fourteen kilos of body weight was sent to the Veterinary Hospital, for an ovariosalpingohisterectomy when it was found that she presented a dermatological picture, compatible with demodicosis, A physical examination was performed and a skin scrape, in which he detected the presence of the demodex canis mite, was prescribed Doxycycline (Doxitin ®), Dipyrone (Dipyrone ®), Ivermectin 1% (Mectimax®), and My pet®. (D -Fenotrine and Piriproxifen). After 30 days the animal returned a little better compared to the first consultation, but the owner reported that he used Doxitin ® but did not give Mectimax ® or passed My pet ® (D-Phenotrine and Piriproxifen). On this day it was Amitraz and Ivermectin. On the second return after 70 days, the animal had a significant improvement, but the owner made use of Ivermectin and a drug based on fipronil.Item Aspectos clinico patológicos e alterações laboratoriais do linfoma multicêntrico canino: uma breve revisão de literatura(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2017-09-30) BERALDO, Mariana Ramos Andrade; FRanco, Débora Quioqueti de Souza; VARZIM, Fernanda L. S. B.; PULZ, Lidia HildebrandLymphoma is a neoplasm characterized by proliferation of malignant lymphoid cells, which can develop in any organ, initially affecting lymph nodes, spleen and liver. Its cause is not well understood, but it is believed in multifactorial etiology, genetic factors, immune deficiency and chemical carcinogens. There are four anatomical classifications for lymphoma: multicenter, digestive, mediastinal and extranodal, and 80% of cases in dogs are multicenter lymphomas. The diagnosis is based on cytological, histological and molecular biology analyzes, which help establish the prognosis of the animal considering the degree of lymphoma malignancy and the cell type of origin. Laboratory tests such as hematological and biochemical profile provide data for animal follow-up, disease involvement and staging. In view of the above, it is clear that lymphoma is a very important condition in dogs, and the reduction of the theoretical basis in relation to the clinical presentation of lymphoma is able to establish a successful bridge for both the clinician with alterations capable of generate an early diagnosis, both for the patient regarding their quality of life and survival.
