Item Uso de aminoácidos sintéticos na nutrição de fêmeas suínas prolíficas(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2011-05-30) DEL SANTO, Tácia Antunes; COELHO, Felipe Pereira Moreno; MORAES, Maria Eugênia; PASSARELI, João; IVO, Marcos AlexandreThe high productivity in swine breeding provides a supply of high-performance hybrid animals, the result of advances in genetic improvement. These animals, however, become more demanding, because when expressing characteristics of high productive and reproductive performance, they need a nutritional contribution that is properly interrelated with the different stages of development. The literature shows in this interrelationship nutrition and stages of reproduction in swine, a small number of studies, particularly with regard to the use of synthetic amino acids in diets of swine females during gestation. Studies have shown that the addition of synthetic amino acid to the diet of pregnant swine females contributes to a decrease in the consumption of crude protein, making the cost of production more economical. The aim of the present review is to discuss the use of synthetic amino acids in diets of high-performance and reproductive female swine in view of the requirements that this animal category needs.Item Criar ou não leitões refugos(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2011-05-30) DEL SANTO, Tácia Antunes; COELHO, Felipe Pereira Moreno; MORAES, Maria Eugênia; PASSARELI, João; IVO, Marcos AlexandreIn the current pig industry, the level of productivity is notorious, providing the offer in the market of high-performance hybrid animals, the result of advances in genetic improvement. Today, modern pig farming aims at the maximum viable piglets / sow / year, but it is known that numerous piglets generate low viability animals (lower birth weight / refuse), not being a favorable resource for pig production. There are also other factors that can influence birth weight and compromise the herd. The purpose of the review is to address the characteristics of piglets with lower birth weight and the factors that interfere with their satisfactory performance until slaughter.Item Toxemia da gestação de ovelhas(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2008-11-30) MORAES, Maria Eugênia; ROSAS FILHO, Adauto de CarvalhoThis literature review aims to present the main aspects of pregnancy toxemia in sheep, as this is a very common cause of death in sheep in the final third of pregnancy. Pregnancy toxemia usually occurs in sheep with two or three fetuses (ORTOLANI, 1996 and VIANA, 2001) or when there is a single bulky fetus (DEGOIS, 1985 and NAVARRE & PUGH, 2002). It is a metabolic disorder determined by an inadequate diet during pregnancy, causing acetonemia, hypoglycemia and systemic acidosis and manifesting digestive signs such as anorexia and nerves such as nervous depression and prostration (ORTOLANI (1996) and (VIANA (2001)). Two organic conditions and of the pregnant woman can cause TG, type I occurs due to the state of malnutrition during the period of concomitant pregnancy with the presence of multiple fetuses (ORTOLANI, 1996 and 2007 and VIANA, 2001). gestation (ORTOLANI, 1996) .Treatment should be aimed at combating hypoglycemia, decreasing glucose drainage and reducing ketoneogenesis (ORTOLANI, 1996 and VIANA, 2001), however the disease prognosis is in most cases. bad cases and therefore prevention through proper food management is very important (ORTOLANI, 2007).Item Controle de infecção cirúrgica em pequenos animais(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2008-11-30) MORAES, Maria Eugênia; SILVA, Angélica do Rocio C.; NEGRO, Maria Raquel de G. O. C.Hospitalization of sick animals greatly increases the risk of infections. The veterinarian has an obligation to minimize the risk of additional damage that may be subsequent to his interventions and this includes minimizing patients' exposure to infectious agents that can lead to nosocomial infection, taking into account that, in some cases, the infectious agent can be zoonotic. The objective of this work is to evaluate the levels of contamination in the Small Animal Surgical Center at Hospital Veterinário do Centro University of the Education Foundation Octávio Bastos (Unifeob), in São João da Boa Vista, SP, and develop an educational project, focusing on the possible critical points that arise in order to maintain the control of surgical infection in Small Animals. In the results obtained so far, it can be observed that in the collections made in the surgical environment at night there is a great growth of fungi. In samples taken from the table and floor, most of the time there was growth of fungi and bacteria, with the exception of samples collected after surgery, in which it can be said that there was a predominance in the growth of bacteria. It was also observed that the largest number of colonies is found on the plaque that is close to the door of the operating room, in relation to the others distributed in the room, due to the greater traffic of people. A positive result has also been obtained by modifying the glove routing routine, which was suggested as a measure to reduce the contamination that was found in the surgeon's gloves immediately before surgery.
