- Item Uso da Detomidina em infusão contínua em uma sedação para orquiectomia em estação em equino: Relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2024-10-09) CABRINI, Giovana Dias; PAIVA, Livia Maria da Silva; FONSECA, Andressa Nardi; OLIVEIRA, Flávio Henrique Valente de; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaOrchiectomy is a procedure that removes the animal's testicles, promoting docility and better social interaction, and also treats pathologies of the reproductive system. Quality anesthesia is essential to avoid complications and ensure animal welfare. In the anesthetic context, α2 adrenergic agonists are widely used in horses for sedation and analgesia. During orchiectomy, local anesthesia with lidocaine reduces blood pressure response and relieves muscle tension, complementing general anesthesia. In horses, anesthetic procedures are crucial for safe interventions. Through this work, we propose to report a successful castration in a horse, with positive results and good recovery, which was treated at the UNIFEOB Veterinary Center.
- Item Protocolo anestésico para orquiectomia em canino com Bav grau II : Relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2024-10-09) SANTOS, Bruna Pan dos; MICHELETTI, Carolina Dantas; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaAtrioventricular block (AVB) in dogs is a condition that affects electrical communication between the atria and ventricles of the heart, and is classified into three degrees and also diagnosed by electrocardiogram. Thus, in this case report, a male canine, of approximately three years of age, was submitted to pre-anesthetic evaluation for an orchiectomy. During the physical examination, a discrepancy between the animal's heart rate and behavior was identified, leading to the suspicion of a second-degree atrioventricular block (AVB), later confirmed by electrocardiogram. After returning for atropine administration to adjust the anesthetic protocol, the orchiectomy was successfully performed, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of cardiac conditions to ensure patient safety during surgical procedures. Thus, the situation illustrates the challenges and the importance, mainly, of a thorough cardiac evaluation, especially in animals that will be exposed to anesthesia, since dogs of any breed and age can be affected.
- Item Anestesia em lagomorfos para procedimentos odontológicos: Revisão bibliográfica(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2024-10-09) CUSTÓDIO, Marina Mendonça; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaThe wild animal clinic has been growing significantly in recent times, especially the lagomorph clinic, which, due to their high docility and easy adaptation to their owners, has aroused people's interest in acquiring them as pets. Despite their gentle temperament, rabbits are animals that become stressed easily, requiring greater care on the part of the veterinarian when handling and restraining these animals. Consequently, it is necessary to know the physiological, anatomical and pharmacological particularities of the species, considering that rabbits have a high chance of developing dental problems, often requiring surgical treatment. Therefore, it is essential to choose an anesthetic protocol appropriate for the animal in question, having knowledge about the drugs to be used, their possible side effects and establishing the important points that must be followed during the anesthesia. Furthermore, during the entire surgery it is necessary to monitor the patient's vital parameters, always aiming to provide greater safety to the procedure and greater comfort to the animal. The present work aims to report on the different drugs that can be used in routine anesthetic procedures in lagomorphs, highlighting the manner of use and their effects, as well as the particularities of the species in question.
- Item O uso do Remifentanil na Anestesiologia Veterinária(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) CHANQUETTE, Maria Vitória Marchenta; MARINO, Ana Júlia Fornari; LANDGRAF, Leticia Chaim; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaIn Veterinary Medicine, opioids are frequently used to treat pain in different situations. These opioid analgesics, which are effective and safe agents, such as Remifentanil, a synthetic selective μ receptor agonist drug, which has a particularity in its chemical composition, which helps to prevent pain and consequently hemodynamic stability during its use. in surgical procedures, allowing its administration in addition to bolus, continuous intravenous infusion for prolonged periods. Its use in anesthetic protocols helps pre, intra and postoperative analgesia and leads to a reduction in injectable anesthetic drug doses, in the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of inhalation anesthetics and in a decrease in the rate of propofol infusion in total intravenous anesthesia ( TIVA).

- Item Vantagens da anestesia epidural em fêmeas caninas submetidas a cesária(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) OCTAVIANO, Giovana Marquiti; CAVALHEIRO, Scheilla Thaís; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaAnesthesia in pregnant females is a major challenge for the veterinarian, since anesthetic protocols must have characteristics that promote minor changes. physiology in the mother and fetus. Currently, epidural anesthesia in pregnant canine females has been performed more frequently in small animal surgery, due to the fact that the local anesthetics decrease the use of inhaled and intravenous anesthetics, reduce trans-anesthetic stress, provide central pain inhibition, promoting smaller changes cardiorespiratory and residual postoperative analgesia.
- Item Uso do sulfato de magnésio na anestesiologia veterinária(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) OLIVEIRA, Amabily R. Ramos de; CARVALHO, Barbara Pires de; BRIDI, Fabíola de Bem; BONFANTE, Juliana da Silva; HATSCHBACH, EduardoMagnesium sulfate has been used for many years in human medicine to control and prevent seizures associated with eclampsia and to inhibit preterm labor in pregnant women. However, its use has been gradually growing in anesthesiology, making its indications broader, being a drug with analgesic and sedative properties with potential for neuro and cardio protection. The objective of this work is to review the physiology and pharmacology of magnesium sulfate, as well as to show its applications and advantages in its use as an adjunct in anesthesia and why one should go in search of new studies of its administration in veterinary medicine.
- Item Uso da cetamina S (+) como adjuvante analgésico em pequenos animais(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) CARVALHO, Barbara Pires; OLIVEIRA, Amabily R. Ramos de; BRIDI, Fabíola de Bem; BONFANTE, Juliana da Silva; HATSCHBACH, EduardoThe care with the health of dogs and cats becomes more and more evident with the socialization of the animal with the human; quality of life and pain control are considered very important aspects, since they are family members. Therefore, veterinarians are dedicated to recognizing and treating pain in animals, since pain perception is difficult to quantify in them. Analgesia is a fundamental issue not only for quality of life, but in pre, trans and post surgery, laboratory tests and clinical routine procedures. Therefore, knowledge of the mechanism of action of drugs that help, as adjuvants, opioids in pain management is essential. Ketamine is a dissociative drug that at low doses has promising prospects in analgesia, blocking the activation of NMDA receptors (N-methyl D-Aspartate), thus inhibiting the binding with glutamate, a nerve impulse transmitter, interrupting the painful sensation and temporarily desensitized her. The objective of this work is to review the properties of the use of ketamine and its isomers in subdoses for general analgesia.
- Item Hiperalgesia induzida por opioides(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) CAVALHEIRO, Scheila Taís; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaCurrently, there is an awareness of the imminent presence of pain and its negative consequences for the general state of health and well-being. Opioids are essential drugs in the fight the pain. However, with current information and studies, it has been confirmed that the administration of opioids, especially chronically or in high doses, can lead to a reaction called opioid-induced hyperalgesia (OHI). A paradoxical consequence, given that the purpose of using these drugs is precisely to stop the pain and not to increase sensitivity after using the drug.
- Item Controle da dor oncológica em pequenos animais: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-01-18) BRIDI, Fabíola de Bem; OLIVEIRA, Amabily R. Ramos de; CARVALHO, Bárbara Pires; BONFANTE, Juliana da Silva; HATSCHBACH, Eduardo; OLIVEIRA, Júlia Bonilha deCancer is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in elderly animals, and pain relief is essential for a better quality of life for the patient and must be done correctly. In order to institute treatment, it is necessary to identify the type of pain, assess the physiological and behavioral changes, location, recognize the patient's physical state, the treatment phase, the limitations and risks of the procedures. Scales and questionnaires are also used to assist the veterinarian. Pain can be treated with different drugs such as anti-inflammatory drugs, opioids, and there are also alternative therapies such as acupuncture and physiotherapy, which help in the process of controlling cancer pain. The present work aims to present a literature review on the control of cancer pain in small animals, highlighting the importance of diagnosing, identifying the physical and behavioral changes in dogs and cats caused by pain and treating it correctly, according to the evolution of the disease. tumor, providing a better quality of life to the animal with cancer.
