Esporotricose em gato doméstico: relato de caso
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) VARZIM, Fernanda Leme S. B.; TORRES, Maria Lúcia Marcucci; ALVES, Jeferson Douglas Soares; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida Furlanetto
Sporotrichosis is a subcutaneous mycosis caused by the fungus Sporotrix schenckii, which can affect several animal species, including man. Feline sporotrichosis is rare, but it is transmissible by biting, scratching, or by contact of the skin or mucosa with exudate from lesions. It can be manifested clinically in three primary forms: cutaneous, lymphatic and disseminated, the cutaneous form being more common in cats. The disease is of great importance for public health and infected animals, especially cats that must be handled with great care.

The prostate is considered the only accessory sex gland in male dogs. Several factors can influence its size, such as: age, race and weight. Prostatic diseases are common in dogs, developing after sexual maturity. Among the diseases that most affect dogs are: cysts, prostatitis, abscesses, neoplasms and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which is the most frequent. Prostatic neoplasms, although less frequent, are highly malignant and a late diagnosis is associated with a poor prognosis. The present work aimed to demonstrate the different aspects of the prostate of dogs, evaluated through imagology. And to compare the use of ultrasound and radiology for the diagnosis of prostatic diseases.

Diagnóstico radiográfico de cistite enfisematosa: relato de caso
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2011-05-30) SILVA, Tatiana Marchetti da; ZAKIMI, Renata Fenuchi dos Santos; ALVES, Jeferson Douglas Soares; NAVARRO, Sérgio Donizetti
Cystitis is an inflammation of the urinary bladder wall that can be associated with infection. Emphysematous cystitis is caused by gas-producing bacteria that accumulate between the layers of the urinary vesicle wall or within the lumen, commonly associated with diabetes mellitus due to glucose fermentation and less frequently due to hyperadrenocorticism and diverticula in the urinary vesicle. Complementary exams are important in elucidating the diagnosis, with radiographic and ultrasound examinations being sensitive and specific. The reported case is of an animal with a history of recurrent urolithiasis who presented dysuria and hematuria who was referred for ultrasound assessment that was not sufficient for diagnosis, opting for simple radiographic examination and cystography, confirming cystitis demonstrating the importance of performing tests complementary to promote a correct diagnosis and treatment.

Techniques for collecting cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in some animal species have been used for some time. However, the existing techniques present restrictions, both methodological and for animal welfare, which need to be minimized. In this way, 6 multiparous sheep (Ovis aries) of the Santa Inês breed were used to obtain CSF through a puncture of the subarachnoid space with the aid of an epidural catheter between the cervical vertebrae C1 and C2 fixed on the epidermis. After anesthetic recovery of the animals, CSF was harvested for 5 consecutive days. 3 ml of CSF were obtained per animal / day. Throughout the experimental period, the sheep did not show neurological changes, nor a sign of infection, as well as no changes in the CSF's physical characteristics. We conclude that the method for catheterization of the subarachnoid space presented above is feasible and effective for obtaining continuous CSF for prolonged periods, thus avoiding more invasive methods with the same objective.

Opossums (Didelphis sp.) Are marsupials that have a very short gestation period, therefore, their offspring are born immature and will end their development in the mother's marsupium. Because they are very early in their development, in the fetal stage of these animals, they already have premature growth of their organs and tissues as a whole. The objective of this work was to describe the ossification stages of opossum fetuses (Didelphis sp.) At different postnatal stages, through diaphanization and radiographic examination. One animal of each age (5 days, 15 days, 22 days and 35 days) was used to verify ossification and consequent comparison with other domestic species. The results indicate a premature ossification of the species in the fetal stage, unlike domestic animals.

Polycystic Kidney Disease (DRP) affects the kidneys through the formation of cavitary structures with liquid content (cyst), being commonly found in the feline species with long hair, most often of hereditary origin, resulting in chronic renal failure. PDD in the canine species has been described in the Cairn Terriers breed, being of hereditary origin and in the Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso breeds, of acquired origin. This report aims to describe polycystic kidney disease in a dog of the Poodle breed who had chronic renal failure.
