OBESITY Definition: Obesity is a disease characterized by excessive accumulation of
body fat that can affect an individual's health. Causes: Eating habits,
sedentary lifestyle, psychological problems and genetic factors. Consequences: Hypertension,
breathing difficulties, locomotor problems, increased levels of fat in the body, heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
Treatment: Nutritional and physiotherapeutic guidance; endocrine, psychiatric/psychological assessment; and if comorbidities occur, it must be treated with drugs.
