In an upper-middle-class school, this may even be surprising, considering the opportunities and resources these students have. Carolina's case, in particular, is striking: she believes that she does not need to go to college to earn money, since she is determined to pursue a career making videos for the internet. Known for always having her cell phone in her hand recording interviews and footage for her channel, where she shares the stories and tips of the class, Carolina wants to follow this path forever. The goal is to help students better understand the concepts of geographic space, culture, and society, using approaches that make learning more meaningful and engaging. José de Alencar Municipal School is located in an urban neighborhood with a rich local history. Most of the students are local residents, and their families have diverse cultural backgrounds, which contributes to a multicultural environment. Teacher Ana Paula wants to take advantage of this diversity to enrich her students’ learning.
