G.; FERREIRA, A.C.S.; OLIVEIRA, A.C.M.; PARRA, P.H.C.; SANTOS, P.A.; SILVA, L.M.M.; SOUZA, L.C.; ULIANA, I.A.The concept of living pharmacy is quite comprehensive, studying and caring for plants in practice for their medicinal and academic use is of great importance in promoting health; the origanum vulgare was used for the study, popularly known as Oregano, which originated from the lamiaceae family. Oregano has antioxidant characteristics due to its chemical composition: essential oil (0.15%-0.90%) in the dry plant, its main constituents being phenols: carvacrol, thymol, Y-terpene and p amene, which may vary according to with the locality where it was cultivated. The high levels of these compounds are of great importance for the effectiveness of this plant species. (PRELA-PANTANO et al, 2009 apud TSINAS, 1999)
