Junqueira and Carneiro in the work Histologia Básica (2004, p. 1) stated that: “Histology is the study of the cells and tissues of the body and how these structures organize themselves to build the organs.” With the main objective of understanding its subjects and thus, having a certain notion about their structure and the way in which they function - as a group or individually - so that their particular sets are also analyzed, including that each cell is responsible for developing a role, seeking above all to protect, calcify, retract, heal, coat and replace in case of loss of any of these cells contributors to the other functions.

Histology is the study of body tissues, these tissues are formed by large clusters of cells and extracellular matrix, and in turn the tissues organize themselves to build organs. Research in chemistry, physiology, immunology and pathology is fundamental to an adequate knowledge of the biology of cells, tissues and organs, and how to its various components interact in health and disease. Knowing the tools and research methods is also essential for a proper understanding of the structure and functioning of cells, tissues and organs.

The study of cells and tissues and the way in which these structures are organized is called Histology. All this study is done with the help of microscopes due to the small size of these cells. In view of the current scenario, we can say that the study of histology has received more and more importance, since with the advances in technology and medicine we have the possibility of creating countless possibilities and answers. Daily, several medical diagnoses are confirmed through biopsy, allowing us to study the cause of death and, through this study, perhaps, achieve advances, allowing that cause of death, perhaps, to be delayed or even cured.

Histology is responsible for studying the cells and tissues of the human body and the way these structures are organized for the formation of organs. For this, the aid of a microscope is necessary because they are small cellular dimensions. It is essential to know the research tools and methods to understand the functioning of the structures of cells, tissues and organs. In the laboratory sector, the requirements of consumers are focused on the actions that the organization performs with its biological discards and actions aimed at reducing their negative impacts on environment. With the eyes of stakeholders focused on changes organizations and their impacts on the environment the objective of this work is to analyze the sustainable practices of a clinical analysis laboratory. Currently, much is heard about sustainability in organizations, but it has always been like that. The business sector and ecology were considered more distant. Ecology is considered the science that studies the relationship between organisms living and their environment. For the business world, ecology is considered a support that provides the necessary resources for companies to develop their activities. In the 1990s it was possible to observe a scenario of changes in the worldwide economic and productive process that brought implications for companies. To the transformations in the international economy and the globalization of production and consumption were accompanied by other changes, such as an increase in the level of demand for consumers with the quality of the products offered. With a view to scenario in which more and more stakeholders (the organization's strategic public) require the organization to turn its attention to sustainability it is necessary understand how an organization responds to these pressures.

Laboratory of clinical analysis are generators of various residues, such as chemical materials, sharp objects and common garbage, and end up generating waste that needs proper disposal. Therefore, it is essential to follow the determinations of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), which defines specific criteria for the disposal of each waste. Therefore, in the search for sustainability Laboratories can contribute to the preservation of the environment environment to the current extent consciously preventing possible impacts related to its activity, adopting norms related to environmental management.

The term sustainability has become even more popular since 1987, when the World Commission on Environment and Development of the United Nations used in its report, known as the Brundtland Report, a related term, sustainable development. Sustainability, according to Verdugo, can be presented as the balance between what is good for people and their communities and what is needed to maintain natural and social resources in order to guarantee the survival of human beings. Sustainable development is responsible for meeting the needs of the present, within ecological limits, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs For Tenório (2006) the objective of sustainable development is to grow economically through the conservation of the environment and of respect for the aspirations of social agents, contributing to the improvement of the population's life.

The relentless pursuit of quality of life and a cleaner environment makes sustainability an extremely important tool in the society we live in. The concern with health led to an increase in demand for health services, resulting in an increase in the generation of hospital waste. The waste generated by the health area can put human and environmental health at risk due to the fact that they contain sharp materials and substances with a high level of contamination, requiring a series of precautions from use to disposal, needing to be conducted in a way to minimize the risks for those who handle and treat them to avoid degradation of the environment. As the concept of sustainability became more widespread and applied in the operational practice of companies, including clinical laboratories, objectives, targets and indicators began to be established to monitor institutional sustainability planning. Thus, it became essential that clinical laboratories also become concerned like other institutions in avoiding environmental impacts.

Clinical analysis is nothing more than the place where all body fluid samples are taken. They are mainly regulated by the Brazilian Society of Clinical Analyzes (SBAC). Running a laboratory is quite complex. The discussion on sustainability emerged about 40 years ago with the aim of meeting human needs and ensuring the future of the next generations without compromising it. In 2002, the Kyoto Protocol was drawn up at Rio+10, where a commitment was signed with the most industrialized countries that produced large amounts of polluting waste. At this world summit, the development of sustainability was summarized in three pillars: economic, social and environmental.
