The work's base case study presents the following information: Eduardo, 42 years old, businessman and owner of a Bar/Restaurant, epileptic since childhood, he has been using Tegretol CR 200 mg since he was 15 years old. It is not considered alcoholic, but daily accompanies his friends in one or another dose of drips. To help with the headache, he uses paracetamol 750 mg. Based on this information, the topics covered and discussed in this work are: rational use of medicines, epilepsy (disease and treatment pharmacological), drug interactions, alcohol consumption and abuse and interactions with medications. Also discussed are the promotion of physical, mental and social status, quality of life and healthy or unhealthy habits and their impact on pharmacological treatment.

(LABOISSIÈRE, 2017). People affected by this disease can suffer profound consequences, such as death sudden injury, psychological problems and mental disorders. (GRANDCHILD; MARCHETTI, 2005) The presence of epilepsy is defined by the recurrence of epileptic seizures (at least two) spontaneous, not provoked by fever, acute insults of the central nervous system or drug abuse. Seizures are resulting from excessive electrical discharges in a group of brain cells, different parts of the brain can be affected by the problem (LABOISSIÈRE, 2017). Integrative and Complementary Practices (PICS) are a treatment that uses therapeutic resources based on traditional knowledge, aimed at to prevent various illnesses, whether mental or physical. In some cases, also can be used as palliative treatments in some chronic diseases. O Unified Health System (SUS) offers 29 PICS free of charge. Evidence scientific studies have proven the benefits of integrated treatment between medicine conventional and integrative and complementary practices. (FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, [20- -]).
