The prostate is considered the only accessory sex gland in male dogs. Several factors can influence its size, such as: age, race and weight. Prostatic diseases are common in dogs, developing after sexual maturity. Among the diseases that most affect dogs are: cysts, prostatitis, abscesses, neoplasms and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which is the most frequent. Prostatic neoplasms, although less frequent, are highly malignant and a late diagnosis is associated with a poor prognosis. The present work aimed to demonstrate the different aspects of the prostate of dogs, evaluated through imagology. And to compare the use of ultrasound and radiology for the diagnosis of prostatic diseases.

The high productivity in swine breeding provides a supply of high-performance hybrid animals, the result of advances in genetic improvement. These animals, however, become more demanding, because when expressing characteristics of high productive and reproductive performance, they need a nutritional contribution that is properly interrelated with the different stages of development. The literature shows in this interrelationship nutrition and stages of reproduction in swine, a small number of studies, particularly with regard to the use of synthetic amino acids in diets of swine females during gestation. Studies have shown that the addition of synthetic amino acid to the diet of pregnant swine females contributes to a decrease in the consumption of crude protein, making the cost of production more economical. The aim of the present review is to discuss the use of synthetic amino acids in diets of high-performance and reproductive female swine in view of the requirements that this animal category needs.

Toxoplasmosis is a cosmopolitan disease caused by the protozoan Toxoplasma Gondii. In humans, it can cause blindness or mental retardation in cases of congenital transmission, and can be lethal in immunocompromised individuals. The cat is an important link in the epidemiological chain of the disease, but the main transmission mechanism for humans is the habit of eating raw or undercooked meat, in addition to eating contaminated vegetables, fruits, milk and water. Health professionals should guide the population on the ways of transmission of the disease, emphasizing that hygiene measures are essential to reduce its incidence.

In the last few years, sheep farming has experienced a great growth and significant appreciation by producers, both in the national and international markets, but there is still a great lack due to the lack of demand for better products. Investors have been changing this by showing that sheep have great characteristics, both qualitative and quantitative, in order to have a softer and more flavorful meat. In order for consumers to give more value to this meat, there is an improvement in the genetic quality, of the herds and the market has been slaughtering younger animals for the low amount of fat and better quality of the meat, with this the meat cuts have better aspects.

Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae is the etiological agent of Swine Enzootic Pneumonia, characterized by dyspnea, dry cough, anorexia, growth retardation, lethargy, and fever, causing great economic losses for the swine industry. The diagnosis by ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) has high specificity and sensitivity in the detection of M. hyopneumoniae. Treatment is based on the administration of high doses of antibiotics. Vaccination helps to decrease the clinical presentation of the disease, and prophylaxis is the best tool to fight the disease.

Cryptococcosis is a systemic fungal disease caused by Cryptococcus neoformans, present in the environment and mainly in pigeon feces. Contamination occurs via aerosol, and it spreads through the body via hematogen. Diagnosis can be made by culture of the fungus and serological tests. Treatment is with antifungal drugs and the prognosis varies from good to bad. This type of infection is common in AIDS patients.

In the current pig industry, the level of productivity is notorious, providing the offer in the market of high-performance hybrid animals, the result of advances in genetic improvement. Today, modern pig farming aims at the maximum viable piglets / sow / year, but it is known that numerous piglets generate low viability animals (lower birth weight / refuse), not being a favorable resource for pig production. There are also other factors that can influence birth weight and compromise the herd. The purpose of the review is to address the characteristics of piglets with lower birth weight and the factors that interfere with their satisfactory performance until slaughter.

In many of the procedures carried out in the field in horses, sedation of the animal is required in view of its restless and often aggressive temperament. Within this context, drugs that allow sedation of the animal and maintenance in a quadrupedal position stand out, maintaining cardiorespiratory stability. Drugs belonging to the group of alpha2 adrenoceptor agonists have been widely used in this species for chemical restraint, sedation or even as analgesics, promoting much more pronounced muscle relaxation than other sedative agents. The use of xylazine, detomidine and romifidine in the equine species stands out in this group. In addition, the association of these drugs with butorphanol has been shown to be advantageous, providing adequate sedation and analgesia, without cardiorespiratory changes.

Bovines are very important animals for the population of today, as they are an excellent source of protein, with this, several researches are carried out in order to improve the quality and to achieve greater productivity of a herd. New techniques for production and reproduction are important for the advancement of the bovine cut which is growing more and more. An example of this is the cloning of animals of high genetic value, through the transfer of somatic nucleus (NT). This technique causes high loss of fetuses and mortality at birth due to a syndrome, related to the development of the placenta.
