Utilização da Thuya Occidentalis no tratamento da papilomatose canina
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) OLIVEIRA, Gabriella Maria Dias de; CAVALHEIRO, Scheilla Thaís; SOUZA, Mariely Thaís de
Canine papillomatosis is an infectious disease caused by the virus of the genus Papillomavirus and family Popillomaviridae. Cutaneous lesions are identified as benign, exophytic, verrucous tumor masses in most cases, compared to the cauliflower shape in the cutaneous, ocular and especially oral region. The transmission of the disease occurs through direct or indirect contact with secretions and/or blood from the papillomas present in infected animals. The treatment of papillomatosis is carried out through different therapeutic protocols that are instituted when the lesions do not present spontaneous healing, such as cryotherapy, electrosurgery, surgical removal, autohemotherapy, autovaccines, chemotherapy, immunostimulants and homeopathic drugs, including the study of integrative therapies, among them, the use of phytotherapics through the medicinal plant Thuya occidentalis, an outstanding action for its successful therapeutic result in canine papillomatosis.

Síndrome da disfunção cognitiva em cães
(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) PIROLA, Júlia Cecília; FERREIRA, Júlia Eliza; SOUZA, Mariely Thaís de
Cognitive dysfunction syndrome in dogs (CCDS) is characterized by behavioral changes in geriatric dogs, due to neurodegeneration. The most observed clinical signs are changes in the sleep-wake cycle, gradual cognitive loss with sensory deficits, changes in learning ability, memory, spatial notions, social interactions and decrease in normal daily activities. The prevalence of this disease can happen from the age of six, when the animal begins to show discrete signs of cognitive dysfunction, however, the most evident changes start from 11 years of age. In the diagnosis, in addition to observing behavioral changes suggestive of CCDS, several complementary exams are indicated, such as blood count, serum biochemistry and hormonal tests, ruling out the influence of diseases that can lead to neurological changes such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, renal failure, among others; the definitive diagnosis is obtained by histopathological examination of the nervous tissue, obtained by biopsy in vivo or, in general, in the post-mortem period. The treatment consists of preventing the advance of the neurodegenerative process and restoring the concentrations of neurotransmitters.

(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) GODOY, Juliana Reis; FOSCO, Maria Paula P.; SOUZA, Mariely Thaís de; MALANDRIM, Patrícia; RODRIGUES, Talita Oliveira; SOSSAI, Vinicius; ALBERTO, Maryna Lança V.
Laryngeal paralysis consists of reduced abduction movement of the arytenoid cartilages during inspiration, resulting in obstruction of the anterior airways. It is related to nerve and/or muscle dysfunctions. Most of them have an idiopathic description. The main symptoms are: dyspnea, inspiratory stridor, vocal alteration, choking and coughing after food or water intake. The diagnosis is confirmed by laryngoscopy, with the animal under light sedation, so that laryngeal reflexes are maintained. The treatment is surgical and the unilateral lateralization of the arytenoid cartilage is the technique of choice. The work in question describes a case of laryngeal paralysis in an 11-year-old male Labrador Retriever.

(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) STECK, Lourenço; RODRIGUES, Talita Oliveira; SOUZA, Mariely Thaís de
Lipoma is a benign tumor classified as a mesenchymal neoplasm, which originates from adipocytes and is located inside or even invades the skin and subcutaneous tissue. IT IS diagnosis is made through observation of clinical signs and complementary tests such as blood count, serum biochemistry, imaging tests, cytology exam. Usually the treatment of choice is surgery through tumor removal and if the excision is incomplete it can be associated with radiotherapy. Great Dane breed, aged 8 years, that the owner complained of a progressive increase in volume in the vulvar and perivulvar region for about a year. Ultrasonographic and cytological examination both showed suggestive of lipoma. The recommended treatment was surgery, through mass removal, and vulvoplasty. After approximately 20 days, it was verified that the animal had already returned to its normal routine, without showing signs of recurrence. Based on the data produced, it is concluded that the provisional diagnosis was obtained through cytological examination and the treatment performed was surgical removal through vulvoplasty. The prognosis for this type of neoplasm is considered favorable for well-circumscribed lipomas, since recurrences are not frequent.

Pneumonia is an inflammation or infection of the lung parenchyma, due to infectious or non-infectious causes. The clinical signs of the disease vary according to the severity of the condition and the differential diagnosis must be based on physical examination, findings on chest radiography, isolation and bacterial culture together, since the clinical signs alone may be common to several patients. other diseases of the respiratory tract. Treatment consists of antibiotic therapy, mucolytics, bronchodilators, oxygen therapy, tapping and fluid therapy and the prognosis varies from good to reserved. The objective of this review is to compile the most relevant literature, in order to facilitate the clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic understanding of this disease.
