Cruz; MELO, Victória de; HATSCHBACH EduardoTotal intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) is a technique that consists of induction and maintenance of anesthetic exclusively intravenous anesthetic drugs and medications in patients assigned to surgical procedures, which may be of quick or short duration. This technique has several advantages over inhalation anesthesia, such as the reduction of postoperative side effects, low cumulative effect and no environmental pollution.Item Aspectos clínicos da atrofia progressiva generalizada da retina em cães(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) PASSOS, Dayara Inês; FERMINO, Patrícia de Fátima; TORRES, Maria Lúcia MarcucciHereditary retinal diseases affect both humans and animals. Generalized progressive retinal atrophy (APGR) is a prolonged and progressive retinal degeneration due to inherited autosomal recessive mutations in genes expressed in photoreceptors and in the retinal pigment epithelium. Clinically, bilateral mydriasis, night blindness, decreased or absent pupillary reflex are observed. The diagnosis is based on clinical history, ophthalmological examination, ultrasound and electroretinography as complementary tests. For these facts, the science of this pathology is important for its identification, in order to avoid its multiplication.Item Aspectos clínicos, diagnóstico e tratamento de pneumonia bacteriana: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) MALANDRIM, Patrícia; GODOY, Juliana Reis; FOSCO, Maria Paula Périgo; RODRIGUES, Talita Oliveira; SOSSAI, Vinicius; SOUZA, Mariely Thaís dePneumonia is an inflammation or infection of the lung parenchyma, due to infectious or non-infectious causes. The clinical signs of the disease vary according to the severity of the condition and the differential diagnosis must be based on physical examination, findings on chest radiography, isolation and bacterial culture together, since the clinical signs alone may be common to several patients. other diseases of the respiratory tract. Treatment consists of antibiotic therapy, mucolytics, bronchodilators, oxygen therapy, tapping and fluid therapy and the prognosis varies from good to reserved. The objective of this review is to compile the most relevant literature, in order to facilitate the clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic understanding of this disease.Item Aspectos da ceratoconjuntivite seca (CCS) em cães e gatos: revisão de literatura(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) LIMA, Amanda Curcio de; ARAÚJO, João Pedro Alves de; TORRES, Maria Lúcia Marcucci; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoKeratoconjunctivitis sicca (CCS) or dry eye is a chronic inflammatory eye disease, often diagnosed in dogs and more rarely in felines. It is a disorder of the precorneal tear film, which results in a deficiency of the aqueous fraction or the mucin and/or lipid layers of the tear film, leading to inflammation of the conjunctiva and cornea, pain and reduced vision. The Schirmer tear test (TLS) is considered the main means of diagnosis. There are several causes for the onset of the disease, but the immune-mediated is believed to be the most common. Treatment is usually recommended in the use of tear stimulants and tear mimetics in addition to antimicrobials. The objective of this work was to expand the knowledge about CCS, a very common disease in veterinary medicine.Item Benefícios da Equoterapia em crianças e adolescentes com transtorno do espectro autista (TEA): revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) FERREIRA, Édma Luara Franco; LIMA, Gabriel Scanavaque de; GONÇALVES, Aline Iris Chiari; RODRIGUES, Taís das Flores; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoAutism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a behavioral disorder, with no proven etiology, that manifests itself before 3 years of age in different degrees and can compromise three areas of development: skills in social interaction, communication skills and manifestations of stereotyped behaviors. . Hippotherapy, a modality of Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is a therapeutic method that uses the horse within an interdisciplinary approach, in the areas of health, education and riding, seeking to assist in the psychological and social development of the practitioner with ASD. The work in question aims to demonstrate, through a literature review, the benefits provided by Hippotherapy in children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The study sought to identify areas where Riding Therapy benefits practitioners with ASD.Item Carcinoma de células escamosas em equino na região infra orbitária: relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) FARIA, Maéli Ribeiro de; ALVIM, Talita Gonçalves; SANTOS, Thayná Franco dos; AGUIAR, Julia Fernandes; BERALDO, Mariana Ramos AndradeSquamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a cutaneous and malignant neoplasm that affects keratinocytes and commonly affects horses. The etiology of SCC is considered multifactorial, and the majority of lesions are associated with hairless and/or depigmented regions and excessive sun exposure with high local ultraviolet radiation. Macroscopically, this neoplasm may have ulcerations, granulation tissue, a cauliflower appearance or be a firm mass, and invasive growth. The most effective treatment is complete removal of the neoplasm, however, when it is not possible to do so, there is therapeutic treatment. The present work reports a case of a horse, female, 11 years old, chestnut coat, Breton, which was treated at the Veterinary Hospital Dr. Vicente Borelli UNIFEOB. The animal had a neoformation in the ocular region and presented acute abdomen syndrome during treatment, which led to the decision to perform euthanasia.Item Carcinoma de células escamosas em felinos: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) CARRIJO, Jacqueline Ohana Vaz; BIBIANO, Milena; RIBEIRO, Veridiana Pereira Alves; VARGAS, Thiago Henrique MoroniCutaneous neoplasms have a high incidence in the clinical routine of small animals, so the in-depth study of this class of tumors is essential. In the feline species, it refers to a predisposition for the appearance of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), mainly affecting areas of hairy rarefaction, hypopigmented or depigmented. Environmental factors such as ultraviolet radiation, genetic and infectious factors are related to the appearance of this neoplasm, which has an aggressive behavior locally and is very progressive if not diagnosed and treated early. In this way, we highlight the importance of recognizing its most characteristic macroscopic aspects as well as diagnostic tools for early diagnosis and a better prognosis or a better quality of life for animals.Item Coccidiose no meio agropecuário: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) AGUIAR, Julia F.; ALVES, Eduardo; BERALDO, Mariana Ramos AndradeCoccidiosis is a parasitic disease caused by parasites of the genus Eimeira and Isospora that affect the digestive epithelium, generating inflammation in the intestinal mucosa leading to self-limiting anorexia, diarrhea accompanied by blood and intestinal tissue fragments. It mainly affects younger animals from three weeks to six months of age, and may affect older animals when population density is high, when the load of ingested oocysts is large or when animals are subjected to stress, concomitant diseases or weak immunity. . It has a low lethality rate, but it is largely responsible for serious losses in the area of livestock.production causing great economic damage, however, animals that were or are exposed and infected by coccidia may not show clinical signs, being a disease often asymptomatic and self-limiting.Item Comissão Organizadora e Científica(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) PESSINATI, Bárbara Dezotti; FIGUEIREDO, Cristiane Leite; BONFANTE, Juliana da Silva; ALBERTI, Karina; VERDURICO, Lenita Camargo; BERALDO, Mariana Ramos Andrade; ALBERTO, Maryna Lança Villia; SOUZA, Mariely Thais de; OLIVEIRA, Ana Flávia de Carvalho; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida Furlanetto; HATSCHBACH, Eduardo; VARZIM, Fernanda Leme Silva Bastos; ALVES, Jefferson Douglas Soares; MESQUITA, José Ricardo Carvalho; ROCHA, Lívia Maria de Souza; MARTINS FILHO, Luiz Paulo; TORRES, Maria Lúcia Marcucci; MARTUCCI, Mariane Ferracin; PINTO, Maristela Pimentel; ALBERTO, Maryna Lança Vilia; SOUZA, Mariely Thais de; AIUB, Plínio Bruno; GRIGOLETTO, Renan; ABREU, Rogério Navarro de; GOUVEIA, YonaraThis scientific academic meeting ENAVET-2019 aims to present the articles prepared by students throughout the undergraduate course, encouraging and improving the act on the importance of science and its contribution to the most diverse covered by Veterinary Medicine.Item Controle da dor oncológica em pequenos animais: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-01-18) BRIDI, Fabíola de Bem; OLIVEIRA, Amabily R. Ramos de; CARVALHO, Bárbara Pires; BONFANTE, Juliana da Silva; HATSCHBACH, Eduardo; OLIVEIRA, Júlia Bonilha deCancer is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in elderly animals, and pain relief is essential for a better quality of life for the patient and must be done correctly. In order to institute treatment, it is necessary to identify the type of pain, assess the physiological and behavioral changes, location, recognize the patient's physical state, the treatment phase, the limitations and risks of the procedures. Scales and questionnaires are also used to assist the veterinarian. Pain can be treated with different drugs such as anti-inflammatory drugs, opioids, and there are also alternative therapies such as acupuncture and physiotherapy, which help in the process of controlling cancer pain. The present work aims to present a literature review on the control of cancer pain in small animals, highlighting the importance of diagnosing, identifying the physical and behavioral changes in dogs and cats caused by pain and treating it correctly, according to the evolution of the disease. tumor, providing a better quality of life to the animal with cancer.Item Criptococose em felino: relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) RODRIGUES, Talita Oliveira; GODOY, Juliana Reis; FOSCO, Maria Paula Périgo; MALANDRIM, Patrícia; SOSSAI, Vinícius; SOUZA, Mariely Thaís deThe present work analyzes a case of cryptococcosis in a domestic feline (Felis catus), mixed breed, 11 years old, treated at the Veterinary Hospital of UNIFEOB, São João da Boa Vista - SP. The animal presented swelling in the nasal region. After clinical examination, material was collected for fungal culture and histopathological examination. In the latter, pyogranulomatous dermatitis and the presence of the microorganism Cryptococcus neoformans were observed, confirming the diagnosis of Cryptococcosis. Therapy with the drugs itraconazole and fish oil, for at least two months of clinical follow-up, resulted in an evident improvement of the signs, since there were no relapses.Item Dirofilariose: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) CARRARI, Marieli de Fátima; FRAÇOSO, Isabela Cristina; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoHeartworm is a disease transmitted by mosquito vectors (Aedes spp, Anopheles spp, Culex spp), which release parasites into the bloodstream. Transmission occurs when a mosquito ingests microfilariae from an infected animal, either by blood transfusion or transplacentally. Its habitat is the pulmonary arteries and the right ventricle. The main host is dogs, and cats have greater resistance to the disease. Heartworm is a zoonosis, therefore, in humans this parasite causes pulmonary heartworm, characterized by the presence of a solitary benign nodule in the lung. Clinical signs vary in duration and severity of infection. Diagnosis is based on clinical signs of cardiovascular dysfunction and demonstration of microfilariae in the blood. The objective of this work is to transmit knowledge about the importance and risks that can be caused by mosquitoes that carry heartworm disease.Item Enriquecimento ambiental para animais selvagens em cativeiro(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) CHIARI, Aline I.; FERREIRA, Edma L. F.; OLIVEIRA, Noemi M.; RODRIGUES, Tais F.; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoThe maintenance of wild animals in captivity is an important tool for the conservation of the species, however, this environment can compromise the well-being of the animals. It must be ensured that the enclosure provides a quality of life at least similar to what it would have in its natural habitat. Having proper management is essential for a good quality of life, we must cherish their well-being, not allowing prey to have visual, olfactory and auditory contact with predators, water available at all times, among others. Environmental enrichment is a fundamental tool to maintain quality of life, as it aims to encourage these animals to behave similarly to those they would have in nature, even in captivity. Currently, free-ranging animals go through many difficulties, caused mainly by us, with that, more and more animals are arriving in Zoos and end up joining the squad, so Zoos invest a lot in research and development of new techniques to improve the quality of life for these animals and make their lives better in captive environments.Item Enucleação transpalpebral em equino submetido a anestesia total intravenosa: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) COSTA, Beatriz S.; ZOGBI, Thays C. S. Cruz; MELO, Victória de; RIBEIRO, Amanda; MARTINS FILHO, Luís PauloHorses are often affected by eye injuries that can compromise their vision to a greater or lesser extent. The ophthalmological pathologies that these animals present have different etiologies, which can be vascular, inflammatory, neoplastic or traumatic. The present report aims to describe the transpalpebral enucleation technique as a means of effective treatment based on a case report in a female horse, treated at the Veterinary Hospital of Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, after traumatic evisceration of the eyeball.Item Episioplastia em cadela como tratamento de lipoma perivulvar: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) STECK, Lourenço; RODRIGUES, Talita Oliveira; SOUZA, Mariely Thaís deLipoma is a benign tumor classified as a mesenchymal neoplasm, which originates from adipocytes and is located inside or even invades the skin and subcutaneous tissue. IT IS diagnosis is made through observation of clinical signs and complementary tests such as blood count, serum biochemistry, imaging tests, cytology exam. Usually the treatment of choice is surgery through tumor removal and if the excision is incomplete it can be associated with radiotherapy. Great Dane breed, aged 8 years, that the owner complained of a progressive increase in volume in the vulvar and perivulvar region for about a year. Ultrasonographic and cytological examination both showed suggestive of lipoma. The recommended treatment was surgery, through mass removal, and vulvoplasty. After approximately 20 days, it was verified that the animal had already returned to its normal routine, without showing signs of recurrence. Based on the data produced, it is concluded that the provisional diagnosis was obtained through cytological examination and the treatment performed was surgical removal through vulvoplasty. The prognosis for this type of neoplasm is considered favorable for well-circumscribed lipomas, since recurrences are not frequent.Item Esporotricose em felinos: revisão de literatura(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) FRANÇOSO, Isabela Cristina; CARRARI, Marieli de Fátima; RODRIGUES, Tais das Flores; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoSporotrichosis is an infectious fungal disease caused by a complex of dimorphic and geological fungi of the Sporothrix spp. It presents in lymphatic cutaneous, fixed cutaneous, disseminated cutaneous and sometimes extracutaneous forms. It has a zoonotic character, in which domestic cats are identified as an important source of infection. Other forms of contagion include the traumatic inoculation of the agent during handling of contaminated soil, vegetables and organic matter. The recommended treatment is with antifungals, especially itraconazole. Currently, it is considered an emerging zoonosis of public health risk, in Brazil several occurrences have been reported in animals and humans, mainly in the South and Southeast regions. The objective of this work is to transmit knowledge about the importance and risks that can be caused by the fungus Sporothrix schenckii in domestic cats.Item Etiopatogenia da salmonelose em bezerros: revisão de literatura(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) FRANCO, Guilherme Ribeiro; SALES, André Luis Cerdeira de; CORDEIRO, Yonara de GouveiaBacteria of the Salmonella genus belong to the Enterobacteriaceae family and have a zoonotic character, that is, the ability to infect humans and animals. the salmonellosis in calves can generate a series of damages to the producer, determined both by the fall in production and by mortality, since the course of the disease can occur quickly. The gateway for infection is the oral cavity, where even the ingestion of a small amount of the bacteria found in water or food is already capable of triggering the disease in a healthy animal. The main clinical signs are characterized by watery diarrhea, brown in color, which may present with fragments of mucosa, fibrin, streaks of blood and a foul odor, in addition to high fever, pneumonia, polyarthritis and gangrene of the extremities. The prognosis is reserved to good, as measures and practices adopted for prevention or immediate methods. This work aims to review the literature on the main characteristics of the pathogenesis of salmonellosis in calves, as well as the clinical manifestations that may be presented as the disease progresses.Item Glaucoma em pequenos animais: revisão de literatura(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) ANDREACI, Fernanda Lepri; SANTOS, Larissa Andressa Ripari dos; PINHEIRO, Rafaela Cristiane Francisco; TORRES, Maria Lúcia MarcucciGlaucoma is a serious disease that affects numerous species, being one of the main responsible for blindness in dogs, and in cats at a lower incidence, leading to a degeneration of nervous structures and progressive loss of vision, thus causing irreversible blindness. The main associated factor is the increase in intraocular pressure (IOP) caused by the reduction or obstruction of aqueous humor drainage. Among the diagnostic methods are ophthalmoscopy, gonioscopy and application tonometry. The main objective of clinical treatment is to provide temporary relief and with the progression of the disease, surgical intervention can be performed. As the condition has a progressive character, it causes irreversible visual damage, leading the animal to loss of vision. The purpose of this article is to review the literature on glaucoma in dogs and cats.Item Hemorragia pulmonar induzida por exercício físico em equinos(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) TORRES, Guilherme Oliveira de; OLIVEIRA, Maísa Carla de; PESSINATI, Bárbara DezottiExercise-Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage is a pathology known to have blood in the nostrils, coming from the lungs, after a great physical effort. Occurs mainly in athletic horses, which require high performance and/or performance. Its main clinical sign is epistaxis, and its diagnosis is based on clinical examination and complementary tests, such as endoscopy. Its incidence has been increasing due to the great demand of athletic animals, and its treatment is considered conservative and palliative.Item Hiperalgesia induzida por opioides(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2019-09-18) CAVALHEIRO, Scheila Taís; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaCurrently, there is an awareness of the imminent presence of pain and its negative consequences for the general state of health and well-being. Opioids are essential drugs in the fight the pain. However, with current information and studies, it has been confirmed that the administration of opioids, especially chronically or in high doses, can lead to a reaction called opioid-induced hyperalgesia (OHI). A paradoxical consequence, given that the purpose of using these drugs is precisely to stop the pain and not to increase sensitivity after using the drug.
