Currently, the use of Tenebrio molitor flour has been widely used in animal feed and, thanks to the approval of the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA), it may be used as human food in the future. Therefore, the objective of this project was to develop the formulation of a biscuit for animal feed, specifically for dogs, using a protein source based on Tenebrio molitor by-products and vitamin B. The choice of Tenebrio molitor flour was due to the high concentration of proteins, lipids, minerals and vitamins present in its nutritional composition. Tests for the development of the animal biscuit prototype are being carried out and, in principle, it was possible to obtain a consistent mass, but further tests will still be necessary to improve the final formulation, develop packaging and mandatory nutritional labeling for this type of product according to current legislation. As a final result, it is expected to obtain a food for veterinary use with good consistency, palatability, nutritional composition based on nutritional recommendations for commercial dog food, in addition to quality and safety for end consumers with future prospects for its approval and commercialization.Item FORMULAÇÃO DE BISCOITO CANINO TENÉBRIO GOLD & CÚRCUMA(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-08-01) PEREIRA, Ana Luiza Barbosa; OLIVEIRA, Max Vieira de; SOUSA, Poliedezia Vieira de; PEREIRA, Suelen de Carvalho; OLIVEIRA, Adriano; ISAAC, Gustavo Elias Arten; CAMARGO, Ana Paula RosaThe formulation of the Tenébrio Gold and Turmeric dog biscuit was designed as an innovation in the market, aiming at sustainability and with the objective of improving the quality of life of elderly dogs with joint problems, with the aim of minimizing the abandonment of animals due to health problems, since, by using the product, the animal's owner can prevent such events. The goal is to develop a cosmetic product that contains an alternative moisturizing ingredient in its formulation, based on Tenebrio oil. The formulation was developed in three stages during the semester of the Undergraduate Pharmacy course. The first attempt did not produce the expected product, since it had a pharmaceutical form that was incompatible with that of a serum. In the second test, the results exceeded the formulators' expectations. However, a few days later, the product underwent a change and, finally, the last test resulted in a product with characteristics similar to those of the first product developed, which demonstrates the need for more tests so that the product, in addition to guaranteeing the characteristics of a serum, can remain unchanged throughout the time after development. Although the formulations require adjustments, cosmetics made from ingredients extracted from Tenebrio are a market innovation and will bring benefits to their users.Item DESENVOLVIMENTO DE BISCOITO VETERINÁRIO COM INSUMOS NATURAIS A BASE DE TENEBRIO(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-08-01) ASSI, Karoline Montoro; JUDICE, Maria Eduarda Lino Del; GALHARDE, Milenna Elena; CORRÊA, Vinicius Alves; OLIVEIRA, Adriano dos Santos; ISAAC, Gustavo Elias Arten; CAMARGO, Ana Paula da SilvaSince Brazil is the second largest consumer of pet products in the world, the industry needs to develop products that meet consumer demand. One of the sectors where innovation is possible is in the food sector using alternative raw materials, an example of which is the use of products derived from a beetle called Tenebrio. Therefore, the objective of the project was to develop a veterinary food product from natural products extracted from Tenebrio larvae. The development of the formulation was carried out in four stages during the semester of the undergraduate course in Pharmacy. In this way, it was possible to identify the ingredients that could be used, ensuring that the product would be successful. Thus, the entire experimental procedure resulted in a protein biscuit based on alternative raw materials, and the tests performed were able to guarantee a pleasant coloration similar to those designed for the market, bringing a sustainable, profitable and innovative bias to its consumers. Although a viable prototype has been created, the tests performed for it are not sufficient, therefore, to guarantee the final product, even more analyses are necessary.
