- Item Efeitos da nutrição sobre a saúde e bem estar de cães em diferentes fases da vida(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) BIZAIA, Emily Cristina; MORAES, Mariane da Cunha de; NUNES, Alanne TenórioTo guarantee a good quality of life for dogs, correct nutritional management throughout their development is essential. It is known that as puppies, dogs must ingest colostrum to receive immunoglobulins and, later, regular breast milk, until three weeks of age when they can receive solid foods. To meet the demands of the puppies, the bitch must receive adequate amounts of nutrients, considering the requirements throughout the gestational and lactation period. In healthy adult dogs, nutrition must meet requirements and reduce the risk of disease. In the case of dogs with illnesses, nutrition can help with management and treatment. In obesity, for example, energy restriction with fiber administration is recommended to generate satiety; in heart disease, it is necessary to provide a food with high energy density and low sodium content; in chronic kidney disease (CKD), in turn, nutrition must ensure the maintaining the body condition score, helping to reduce azotemia and maintaining acid-base balance. Finally, in the case of elderly dogs, adequate levels of protein must be provided, taking into account in view of the progressive loss of muscle mass. These particularities must be taken into account to ensure the health and well-being throughout all stages of dog development. Therefore, the present work aims to elucidate the importance of establishing adequate nutrition according to the dog's life stage, aiming to assist veterinarians and owners in choosing the best nutritional management.
- Item Acidose Ruminal em Bovinos: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) VITOR, Ana Caroline Silvério; VERONEZI, Nathália Giovana; TENÓRIO, AlanneRuminal acidosis is characterized by a drop in ruminal pH, resulting from high grain intake, or sudden changes in diet, which lead to changes in the ruminal microbiota. These changes cause the lysis of local bacteria and favor other pathogens such as Streptococcus bovis, which produces lactic acid. Lactic acid is largely responsible for the decrease in rumen pH. The diagnosis is based on clinical findings, such as hyporexia and decreased rumination, and on measuring the rumen pH of affected animals and classified as clinical or subclinical. Treatment is based on its form of diagnosis to alleviate clinical signs, however dietary management and adequacy of carbohydrate levels in the diet are part of the therapeutic and prophylactic methods in both forms. Prevention of this condition is done through prior dietary adaptation and balancing the ingredients in the diet. The objective of this work is to address the main aspects of rumen acidosis in cattle through a literature review.
- Item Vírus da influenza aviária e seus impactos socioeconômicos(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) CARVALHO, Bárbara; NUNES, Alanne TenórioAvian Influenza (AI) is characterized as a zoonosis and infectious disease of birds caused by the type A influenza virus. The high level of genetic recombination between members of the AI virus of this type allows gene permutations and causes the emergence of new virus strains. All types of H5N1 viruses have a row of basic amino acids at the hemagglutinin (HA) cleavage site and are fatal to chickens, generating systemic infections. Considering the relevance of this topic, the present work aimed to clarify the disease, its clinical signs, diagnosis and treatment, in addition to highlighting its economic repercussions. The results of the literature review demonstrate the need to employ biosafety measures in environments of poultry farms, so that Brazil maintains its status as an AI-free country for trade.
- Item Síndrome da disfunção cognitiva canina: revisão bibliográfica(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) PAIVA, Jhenifer A.; BENASSI, Lívia A.; GONÇALVES, Brenna M. C. N.Cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CCDS) is a neurodegenerative pathology related to the gradual loss of cognitive functions and progressive behavioral changes in dogs. It generally affects dogs over 7 years of age, but not all elderly animals are affected by the disease. Animals with this syndrome present clinically with learning difficulties, memory deficits, anxiety, changes in sleep, disorientation and difficulty interacting with other animals and humans. The exact neuropathogenesis of this disease is not yet known, but beta-amyloid is the largest constituent of senile plaques, one of the markers of cognitive dysfunction found in the brain of a sick animal. Clinical suspicion is based on the identification of clinical signs, the exclusion of other extra and intracranial causes that may cause or contribute to the appearance of these signs and mainly based on a complete anamnesis, in addition to examinations. laboratory and cognitive tests. For treatment, drugs are currently used that delay the evolution of the pathology, adequate environmental management and a diet aimed at reducing compounds oxidants. The prognosis will depend on the time the animal was diagnosed, age, clinical signs and response to treatment, being considered reserved in most cases. Like this occurs with other canine behavioral problems, canine cognitive dysfunction is a diagnostic challenge. The objective of this review is to report on the disease, in order to allow the Veterinarian to provide quality of life for the affected dog.
- Item Complexo respiratório felino e principais agentes infecciosos: revisão bibliográfica(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) CADETIO, Giovanna; VARZIM, Fernanda Leme Silva BastosThe increase in the population of felines as companion animals associated with the greater frequency of veterinary care contributes to an increase in diagnosis and, consequently, the perception of various diseases in the species. One of the most common and easily transmitted diseases, both directly and indirectly, is the feline respiratory complex (CRF). This pathology affects the conductive portion and the respiratory portion, and can cause clinical manifestations such as mucopurulent nasal secretion, ocular secretion, dyspnea, sneezing, cough, conjunctivitis, anorexia and weight loss. CRF is a multifactorial infectious process, composed of four types of etiological agents, among two of which are viruses, Feline Herpesvirus type 1 (FeHV-1) and Feline Calicivirus (FCV), and two are bacteria, Chlamydophila felis and Bordetella bronchiseptica. The diagnosis is concluded from the manifestations of the symptoms presented by the patient, and specific tests may also be used, such as histopathology, serology and PCR. The prognosis is considered good in relation to the animal's life, however, in relation to the cure, it is bad, as there is no cure. Once the animal becomes a carrier of the disease, it can transmit it to other susceptible felines around it. The treatment It depends on the clinical condition of each animal and the most recommended preventive method is vaccination. Without control, CRF has an occurrence of 63.16% of the feline population, thus determining one of the most common diseases in domestic cats and its main infectious agents.
- Item Intussuscepção em potra mangalarga: relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) ALVES, Karolina Cupim Gonçalves; SCARPION, Lorena Bueno; PAIVA, Lívia Maria da Silva; CELOTTI, GustavoEquine intussusception is defined as intussusception that mainly affects foals up to three years old. The condition is invagination of the segment of one organ into another segment the same. Characterized by intense, acute and severe abdominal pain. The diagnosis can be made through complementary tests, such as collection of peritoneal fluid, rectal palpation (when possible) and mainly through ultrasound examination, which can observe the small intestine. Treatment is clinical and may be surgical, depending on the severity of the injury. In more serious cases, which present severe congestion due to strangulation of the loop, enterectomy and enteroanastomosis are necessary to remove the part of the segment without functionality and with circulatory unviability. Through this work, we propose to report a case of jejunojejunal intussusception in a filly, with surgical resolution, treated at the UNIFEOB Veterinary Hospital.
- Item Anestesia geral com o uso de Remifentanil em cadela submetida a mastectomia parcial associada a ovariohisterectomia: relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) CHANQUETTE, Maria Vitória Marchenta; JACKSON, Giulia Stefani; BORGES JÚNIOR, Darcy Vilhena; OCTAVIANO, Giovana Marquiti; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaPatients with breast neoplasms suffer from pain both from the neoplasm itself and from its surgical treatment, mastectomy, which consists of a very aggressive surgical procedure that often causes central sensitization due to repeated stimuli to peripheral nociceptors. In view of greater comfort and quality in surgery and recovery of these patients, it is necessary to use an analgesic protocol appropriate to the level of pain to which the patient is subjected. In Veterinary Medicine, opioid drugs are frequently used to treat pain in various situations, effective and safe agents, such as Remifentanil. This case report addresses its use in an anesthetic protocol, which helps trans and postoperative analgesia and leads to a reduction in doses of injectable anesthetic drugs and in alveolar concentration. minimum (MAC) of inhalants, providing hemodynamic stability during their use in surgical procedures.
- Item Uso do plasma rico em plaquetas no tratamento da tendinite equina: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) SILVA, Laila M.; Flório, Naiara S.; PESSINATI, Bárbara D.Equine tendonitis is an important pathology, which mainly affects high-performance animals and is characterized by tendon inflammation. The clinical signs of the disease are classified as edema and increase in local temperature, pain on palpation of the affected region and lameness. Its definitive diagnosis is made through ultrasound, a complementary exam considered the most reliable for this disease. Treatments can be classified as conventional, through rest, use of anti-inflammatories, cryotherapy and bandages, and alternative, such as the use of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). PRP is a product derived from the animal's own blood, in which we find a high concentration of platelets, and when administered intralesionally, they degranulate, releasing growth factors that assist in cell differentiation, promoting increased production of type I collagen, providing better tendon repair, strength and elasticity. The objective of this work is a literature review on the use and effects of PRP in the treatment of tendon injuries in horses.
- Item Análise morfológica do cone modular aplicada á anestesia epidural e subdural em grandes felídeos(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) LANDGRAF, Letícia Chaim; DONEGA, Natália Silva Bueno; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoLarge felids are species that play important ecological niches, being responsible for controlling many wild species. Therefore, in this research two jaguars (Puma concolor), jaguar I and jaguar II, fixed in formaldehyde from the collection of the Unifeob Animal Anatomy laboratory. For macroscopic analysis, these animals were weighed and their body lengths measured, to later dissect, expose and count the number of lumbar, sacral and coccygeal vertebrae. Then, the vertebrae were measured for a comparative analysis between them “in situ” and through radiographic projections, in order to define the termination of the spinal cord and measure the length of the conus medullaris, locating a safe point for the practice of the epidural anesthetic technique. and spinal. Therefore, the results found were that both had 7 lumbar vertebrae, 3 sacral vertebrae, but the coccygeal vertebrae had a variation of 21 in jaguar I and 23 in jaguar II. Exposing a spinal cord that ended in ounce I in the lumbar vertebra (L6) and in ounce II in sacral 1 (S1). Consequently, it can be concluded that the safest intervertebral space for these procedures is the sacrococcygeal space, after all, in this location the spinal cord is no longer present in pumas. Therefore, this project, considering the importance of these animals, aims to study the lumbar, sacral and beginning of the coccygeal vertebrae, spinal cord and conus medullaris, in order to improve the epidural and subdural anesthetic technique in the area of large felids, contributing to their greater use in everyday life and assisting in future literary projects.
- Item Métodos diagnósticos da endocardite bacteriana em cães: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) OLIVEIRA, Braian Rombaldo de; PELITEIRO, Lívia; ALBERTO, Maryna Lança ViliaBacterial endocarditis is an infectious process that affects the heart valves, most commonly, mitral and aortic located on the left side, or the endocardium itself. The animals The most affected are medium or large male dogs, due to the occurrence of prostatitis subacute or chronic bacterial infection, which can also affect small dogs, both males and females. In most cases, the clinical signs of the disease are not specific (such as hyperthermia, weight loss, loss of appetite, polydipsia, polyuria, tachypnea, dyspnea, and exercise intolerance), which makes early diagnosis even more difficult. Positive blood culture results are used as diagnostic methods, along with the relationship between the most involved microorganisms, as well as echocardiography, electrocardiogram, radiography, blood count and necropsy. Among the treatment methods, the recommended therapeutic protocol is the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics that penetrate fibrin, always maintaining them for long periods, and can be administered intravenously and orally, always following the results of the blood culture and antibiogram, without ever forget to periodically evaluate possible coexisting problems that may appear as a result of bacterial endocarditis. Therefore, the objective of this work is to compile data from the literature, highlighting the different methods for diagnosing bacterial endocarditis.
- Item Manejo alimentar inadequado e sua relação com a lipidose hepática em psitácideos: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) FARIA, Alex Takahashi de; DOMENCIANO, Heloisa Helena Ferreira; AIUB, Plinio B.Currently, exotic and wild species have gained space as pets. Due to their behavior, psittaciformes or parrots (parrots, cockatiels, Australian parakeet, for example) example) are commonly found as pets and are consequently present in the routine of veterinarians specializing in unconventional pets. Factors such as The owner's inexperience, lack of veterinary monitoring and the inappropriate way of acquiring the animal result in errors in food management. Offering a diet rich in fatty seeds and lacking in nutrients is associated with the incidence of diseases arising from incorrect diet and among them, liver diseases, more precisely, hepatic lipidosis. This disease is characterized by excessive accumulation of fat in the liver, with different etiologies, with the individual being able to or not demonstrate clinical signs and biochemical changes.
- Item Encarceramento nefroesplênico de cólon ascendente esquerdo em equinos : revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) TAGLIAFERRO, Karoline Saturnino; OLIVEIRA, Braian Rombaldo de; RIBEIRO, AmandaColic syndrome in horses is characterized as pain of acute abdominal origin, which can originate from various diseases in abdominal organs, however, in the vast majority of cases, the origin of the pain is disorders in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). Among these diseases of the GIT is the displacement of the left ascending colon and its incarceration over the nephrosplenic ligament. This displacement is characterized by the entrapment of the pelvic flexure in the nephrosplenic ligament, and the main predisposing factor for this to occur are the muscles themselves. anatomical characteristics of the region. This condition can lead to mild, moderate or severe pain, causing physical changes, mainly in heart rate, respiratory rate and intestinal motility pattern. Diagnostic methods for nephrosplenic incarceration include the association of findings on physical examination, transrectal palpation and transabdominal ultrasound examination. However, it is worth highlighting that, in certain cases, only the surgical procedure confirms the diagnosis. In the case of an established clinical diagnosis, the main drug therapy applied to these cases is the administration of epinephrine in the form of an infusion, in an attempt for this alpha-2 adrenergic agent to lead to splenic contraction, and the ascending colon to return to its normal anatomical position. . In some cases, this attempt at splenic contraction does not produce positive results, leaving the surgical procedure as the only treatment. The objective of this work is to address, through a literature review, the main aspects of the nephrosplenic entrapment in horses, through a clinical and surgical approach taking into account tells current literary data.
- Item Coinfecção por hemoparasitos em cão assintomático : relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) PINHO, Bruna Candido; SANTOS, Bruna Pan dos; MICHELETTI, Carolina Dantas; FERREIRA, Maria Eliza; TORRES, Maria Lúcia MarcucciHemoparasitosis is a common disease in small animals. They are caused by protozoa or bacteria and are transmitted by ectoparasites, such as fleas and ticks. Among them, the most commonly found in veterinary medical routine are babesiosis, ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis, popularly known as "tick disease". Due to non-specific and similar symptoms, these diseases are difficult to diagnose at first and can often be asymptomatic. Therefore, the diagnosis is based on clinical suspicion, and later confirmed by laboratory tests. The successful treatment of these diseases depends on early diagnosis, choosing the best treatment that involves the use of specific antibiotics, such as doxycycline, and supportive measures to alleviate symptoms and prevent complications. The preventive use of ectoparasite control such as antiparasitic collars, medications such as fluralaner, or active ingredients that kill fleas and ticks, environmental control, regular consultations and annual tests are essential to combat them, reduce their effects and avoid fatalities. In this report, a male canine, SRD, aged 12 years, is portrayed, who, when carrying out a routine examination, was observed by laboratory tests to be co-infected with babesia, ehrlichia and anaplasma, without the animal showing characteristic clinical symptoms. .
- Item Análise comparativa entre as características morfológicas renais dos felinos domésticos (Felis catus) e grandes felídios (Puma concolor)(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) HONÓRIO, Vinícius M.; ROSA, Ricardo Alexandre; AIUB, Plinio B.; MANÇANARES, Celina A. F.The kidneys are paired structures covered externally by a capsule of dense connective tissue, resembling a bean grain shape, thin and well defined. They are located in the retroperitoneal space, located ventral to the transverse processes of the vertebrae in the dorsal abdominal wall, projecting cranially to the last ribs of the abdomen. For this research, four animals were used, two large felines (Puma concolor), and two domestic felines (Felis catus), so that both species went through the dissection process to recognize the structures and anatomical location of the organ under study. During the dissection process so far there has been a difference in kidney size, kidney weight and vein caliber. and renal arteries between species, in addition to the fact that one of the large felids had an extra renal vein on the right side, differentiating itself from other animals. However, it is noted that the topographic location of the kidneys of jaguars is similar to that of domestic felines. The aim of the study is to characterize the kidneys of domestic felines (Felis catus) and the kidneys of large felines (Puma concolor) in the macroscopic part, making it possible to carry out a comparative analysis of the renal morphological characteristics between the two species, to verify possible differences between they. The aim is also to obtain information that explains the appearance of changes that may predispose the occurrence of common pathologies in feline clinics.
- Item Estudo morfológico dos dentes do puma concolor(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) LEITE, Debora Brenda Silva; CAROCI, Camila de Abreu; LUCA, Giovanna Matos de; BERALDI, Maria Vitória; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoThe Puma concolor is a feline that lives solitary and has day and night habits. Classified as a species threatened with extinction in Brazil since 2014, the decline of the species could cause numerous changes to the ecosystem. This study seeks to identify the species' dental arch, as any problem in the oral cavity can lead to behavioral changes, systemic dysfunctions and compromising the animal's health. The study described the position and structure of the teeth in the dental arch, and to carry out macroscopic analyzes of the teeth, incisions were made in the skin, removing the facial muscles for exposure and for better clarity of photodocumentation. The teeth were extracted using surgical instruments. The identified dental formula was 2X (I 3/3, C 1/1, PM 3/2, M 1/1) = 30 teeth in the permanent dentition. It was observed that the second molar of the Puma concolor is located more medially compared to the domestic cat, although the anatomy of domestic and wild felines is similar. This study aims to compare some information with existing data, contributing to knowledge about the dental morphology of this species and providing material for future research.
- Item Uso de anticorpo IGY especifico da gema de ovo no tratamento da parvovirose canina: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) MORAIS, Mariane da Cunha de; BIZAIA, Emily Cristina; NUNES, Alanne TenórioParvovirus is a viral disease of great relevance in dogs, causing high mortality in this species. To treat this condition, new alternatives have been used, including immunoglobulins. When chickens are exposed to parvovirus, they produce immunoglobulin Y (IgY), which accumulates in the yolks of their eggs. Studies show that IgY improves the intestinal health of dogs, causing milder symptoms and also increasing the survival rate of these animals.
- Item Lúpus eritematoso discóide em cão: relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) FELIX, Juliana Simões; PRATES, Rafaela Gonçalves; MARTINELLI, Paulo Edson BaptistaDiscoid Lupus Erythematosus (DLE) is one of the most common autoimmune skin diseases in small animal clinics, with a high prevalence, especially in dogs. Its etiology is not yet well defined, however it is possible to state that hormonal and genetic factors influence the onset of DLE, as well as sun exposure, especially in light areas of the body, as this disease results in depigmentation, peeling and erythema of the skin. The diagnosis is made based on anamnesis, physical and histopathological examination, and its differentials include pemphigus foliaceus and actinic dermatitis. Being an autoimmune condition, there is no cure, however, the prognosis is favorable when the lesions are controlled through the use of corticosteroids, sun protection and vitamin E supplementation. The present work aims to describe a clinical case diagnosed as DLE in a two-year-old female dog.
- Item Abordagens clinicas e aspectos patológicos relacionados relacionados ao hemangiossarcoma cardíaco em cães: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) TAGLIAFERRO, Karoline Saturnino; VARGAS, Thiago Henrique MoroniHemangiosarcoma is characterized by being a malignant neoplasm originating from the mesenchymal tissue of endothelial cells, being an important measurement in dogs, as it manifests itself in several organs, including the heart, in a primary or secondary way (through metastasis). In the heart, this disease can be observed in the walls of the right atrium, and, eventually, in the right ventricle. Cardiac hemangiosarcoma may have clinical signs, mainly cardiac tamponade, right heart failure, pericardial effusion and cardiac arrhythmia, however, such signs may vary according to the size of the tumor. In relation to etiopathogenesis and oncogenesis, they have not yet been well clarified, where their origin indicates that they are from bone marrow precursor endothelial cells, and it is also worth highlighting the association with hereditary predisposition. Furthermore, its diagnosis is difficult to conclude, as the changes are not well visualized in exams, such as radiography, laboratory and cytological analyzes of the pericardial fluid, due to the difficult cell differentiation in the effusion. Therefore, definitive diagnosis includes thoracotomy or thoracoscopy, together with biopsy. Regarding treatment, surgical or chemotherapy methods can be taken, such as performing exploratory thoracotomy to resect the tumor mass, respecting safety margins. While chemotherapy includes the interaction of vincristine, doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide, it is more advisable to administer it immediately after the surgical procedure. Therefore, the aim of this work was to highlight and analyze clinical and pathological aspects of this disease, taking into account literary data related to cardiac hemangiosarcoma in dogs.
- Item Importância e métodos de conservação do axalote (Ambystoma mexicanum) in situ e ex situ : revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) OLIVEIRA, Giovani Vinícius de; RODRIGUES, Paulo Daniel; AIUB, Plinio B.The axolotl is an aquatic amphibian native to Mexico, known for its ability to regenerate and its peculiar appearance. However, its wild population has been declining due to habitat loss, water pollution and illegal trapping. To ensure the survival of axolotls, in situ (in the natural environment) and ex situ (in captivity) conservation strategies are necessary. In situ conservation involves the protection and management of natural habitats, while ex situ conservation involves captive breeding and maintenance of populations. Both approaches play complementary roles in preserving the species, allowing the maintenance of genetic diversity, carrying out scientific research and developing reintroduction strategies into the wild.
- Item Anestesia locorregional para ablação do conduto auditivo direto em felino: relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2023-10-18) JACKSON, Giulia Stefani; BORGES JÚNIOR, Darcy Vilhena; OCTAVIANO, Giovanna Marquiti; CHANQUETTE, Maria Victória Marchenta; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaThe painful stimulus during a surgical procedure is extremely harmful for the patient's anesthesia and recovery. A very effective way to control pain is through locoregional blocks, responsible for helping to maintain stable hemodynamics as they substantially contribute to the reduction of trans and postoperative drugs. Using them, it is possible to inhibit pain at its source of transmission, preventing the stimulus from spreading, bringing peace of mind to the procedure as a whole. The local anesthetics of choice vary between lidocaine and bupivacaine, which act to inhibit sodium channels, responsible for ceasing nerve stimulation, preventing them from reaching the nerves corresponding to the site of application. This anesthetic method has proven increasingly effective and necessary within anesthesia.
