Item Pneumonia em potros causada por Rhodococcus equi(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2009-09-30) RUFATO, Carolina Oliveira Andrade; ABREU, Rogério Navarro deRhodococcosis is one of the most important diseases in foals from one to six months of age, caused by Rhodococcus equi leading to bronchopneumonia with pulmonary abscess and / or enteritis, polysynovitis, osteomyelitis and uveitis. The objective was to bibliographic survey of rhodococcosis, describing its etiology, clinical symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of this disease that affects foals in the early stage of life.Item Síndrome da imunodeficiência felina(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2009-09-30) CARLOS, Camila Zeferino; NUNES, Poliana Ferraz; SILVA, Tainá da; SILVA, Angélica do Rocio CarvalhoFeline immunodeficiency is a viral disease that affects domestic and wild felines. It is transmitted by cat bites, through the placenta, collective use of food containers, mutual licking and blood transfusion. The disease leads to a progressive loss of immunological activity, which is associated with secondary infections, such as stomatitis, chronic gingivitis, respiratory diseases and, less frequently, chronic diarrhea and dermatopathy, but often infected animals are asymptomatic. This disease decreases the animals' quality of life, can be transmitted by apparently healthy animals and has no cure. For these reasons, prophylactic measures such as neutering male cats should be used to reduce wandering and fighting; keep animals indoors when possible and do not expose them to newly adopted cats.Item Desenvolvimento embrionário do fígado e do pâncreas de embriões e fetos bovinos(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2009-09-30) SANTOS, Ana Paula de Almeida; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida Furlanetto; CARVALHO, Ana Flávia de; ROSA, Ricardo AlexandreIn domestic mammals, the increase in production rates as well as the greater dissemination of superior genetic material in herds, has been the subject of intense studies and investments, which has allowed a great advance and development of several biotechnologies related to animal reproduction. In cattle, most organs and body parts are formed between the 2nd and 6th week of gestation. During this period, the digestive tract, lungs, liver and pancreas develop from the primitive intestine, and the beginnings of the muscular, skeletal, nervous and urogenital system are established. In the course of development, the epithelial components of the digestive tract are derived from the endoderm that lines the primitive intestine and the connective and muscular components. Approximately 25 to 45% of bovine embryos are lost until the final implantation process. Due to the scarce literature related to organogenesis and the growth of technological innovations linked to bovine reproduction, the present study aims to study based on the normal development of the pancreas and liver of bovine embryos, thus generating a comparison for the understanding of numerous deformities and anomalies frequently encountered.Item Anestesia na cesariana de pequenos animais: revisão de literatura(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2009-09-30) RODRIGUES, Rafael Limeira; DEUS, Gustavo Tadeu Ferreira de; GREGORES, Guilherme Buzon; BECHARA, Juliana NodaCesarean surgery is generally an emergency procedure, and the anesthetic technique used must be safe for both mother and fetuses. The pregnant female has some physiological particularities, including cardiovascular changes, in respiratory function and gastroenteric system. Among the drugs used in pre-anesthetic medication, opioids are appropriate choices and attention should be paid to their adverse effects. Benzodiazepines can be used, but with caution. In induction, propofol and etomidate are the most indicated, to the detriment of dissociatives and barbiturates. In maintenance, the drugs of choice are isofluorane and sevofluorane, since halothane causes major fetal depression. Regional anesthesia techniques, such as epidural anesthesia, are of great value, greatly improving fetal vigor and decreasing the amount of inhaled anesthetic for pregnant women.Item Achado de úlcera gastrointestinal durante ovariosalpingohisterectomia terapêutica: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2009-09-30) MEGIATTO, Erika Alice Proni; MORAES, Cíntia Miguel de; MORAES, Franciana de; LOURENÇO, Maria Lúcia Gomes; TORRES, Maria Lúcia MarcucciDue to a lack of information, pet owners commonly administer non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs without knowledge of the interaction, dosage and consequences of misusing these drugs. This factor is the main cause of gastrointestinal ulceration in dogs. A female dog with anorexia and frequent episodes of emesis, as well as mucopurulent and melena vaginal secretion, was treated at the Veterinary Hospital Vicente Borelli, at the University Center of the Octávio Bastos Education Foundation (HOVET - UNIFEOB). In the anamnesis it was discovered that the owner had been treating his animal with meloxican for eight days. After the diagnosis of pyometra, the animal was submitted to ovariosalpingohisterectomy, where the presence of a gastro-duodenal ulcer in the healing phase and peritonitis was found. After palliative treatment for 30 days, he was discharged and medicated with his homeostasis restored. The purpose of this report is to warn that the indiscriminate use of anti-inflammatory drugs can lead to serious injuries, putting the lives of pets at risk.Item Úlcera gastroduodenal em equinos: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2009-09-30) ARCURI, Grazieli Braido; SILVA, Angélica do Rocio C.In recent years, gastrointestinal ulcer has been recognized as a prevalent and important disease in equine clinics. There is a strong relationship between its development and factors such as management, diet, stress, use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and others. Gastroscopy is the only efficient way to diagnose the presence of ulcers. If this is not possible, treatment will be determined by clinical symptoms, which are often vague and nonspecific. A 17-year-old mare with a history of intermittent diarrhea and normal appetite was treated at the Veterinary Hospital UNIFEOB, there was no possibility of endoscopy, the treatment was based on clinical symptoms. The animal showed no improvement, the treatment was changed to homeopathic. Faced with the condition, without response, euthanasia followed by necroscopic examination was implemented, with gastric and duodenal ulcers.Item Gastrite crônica por Helicobacter Pylori em um cão: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2009-09-30) MORAES, Franciana de; MORAES, Cíntia Miguel de; MEGIATTO, Érika Alice Proni; LOURENÇO, Maria Lúcia Gomes; TORRES, Maria Lúcia MarcucciHelicobacter spp. are bacteria that colonize the gastric mucosa of several species, and H. pylori is not described as the main microorganism found in the gastric mucosa of dogs and cats. Dogs are usually asymptomatic, but when they show clinical signs, chronic emesis is often seen. The diagnosis can be confirmed through the rapid urease test, serology, cytology and histopathological examination, and treatment is performed when there are clinical signs. The present work describes a case of chronic gastritis caused by H. pylori, diagnosed through biopsy, collected by endoscopy associated with the urease test. The treatment was based on the use of antibiotic therapy (azithromycin associated with metronidazole) and gastric protectors.Item Diagnóstico ultrassonográfico de hidropisia fetal intra uterino: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2009-09-30) GARCIA, Pâmela Diniz; SANCHES, Carolina Dias de Campos; LOURENÇO, Maria Lúcia Gomes; ALVES, Jefferson Douglas SoaresFetal hydrops is a disease characterized by abnormal accumulation of extravascular fluid in tissues and or cavities of the body. In human medicine, the diagnosis is usually made during prenatal care by ultrasound examination. This study aims to report the intrauterine diagnosis of hydrops fetalis, in a poodle bitch in the final stage of pregnancy through ultrasound examination. The change was identified by the presence of pleural and peritoneal effusion. The ultrasound findings were confirmed in post-mortem examinations.Item Estudo macroscópico do nervo isquiático do Quati (Nasua nasua) e suas ramificações(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2009-09-30) SANTOS, Amilton César dos; MANÇANARES, Ana Carolina Furlanetto; BERTOSSOLI, Bruno Machado; CARLOS, Camila Zeferino; SILVA, Flávia Martins da; BENATO, Talita Mascarim; OLIVEIRA, Vanessa Cristina de; ROSA, Ricardo Alexandre; CARVALHO, Ana Flávia de; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoThe coati (Nasua nasua) is a procionid with a flexible snout, small eyes and ears, which have long canines. They are omnivorous animals with diurnal, terrestrial and arboreal habits, which feed mainly on fruits and small invertebrates. This omnivore has been constituted in an important group among the animals submitted to different studies, which is extremely important even for the understanding of its own evolution, adding to the fact that detailed knowledge of its Anatomy can represent an important factor for their preservation and protection. The objective of this research is, is to know the anatomical aspects of the sciatic nerve, its origin and composition, aiming at a better understanding of the innervation of the pelvic limb of this animal. For this work, 3 orthothanged animals were used, from the Scientific Creatory (CECRIMPAS) -UNIFEOB authorized by IBAMA as the Process: nº 02027.003731 / 04-76. The techniques used were latex injection into the abdominal aorta to replenish the arterial bed, followed by fixation in a 10% formaldehyde solution. The sciatic nerve and its branches were dissected, measured and photo documented. After analyzing the pieces studied, we could observe that the largest nerve in the coati's body is the sciatic nerve, as well as in the feline, swine and goat. This one The nerve derives its fibers essentially from the ventral branches of the lumbar nerves and from the sacral nerves that make up the lumbosacral plexus.Item Morfologia dos músculos superficiais do Quati (Nasua nasua)(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2009-09-30) SANTOS, Amilton César dos; OLIVEIRA, Vanessa C. de; ROSA, Ricardo Alexandre; CARVALHO, Ana Flávia de; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoThe coati is an animal that belongs to the Phylum Chordata, the Mammalia Class, the Carnivorous Order and the Procyonidae Family. The striking feature of the Procyonidae family is the presence of five digits in the paws, that is, these animals are classified as plantigrade, being able to perform manual movements in different directions. He has habits of climbing trees to breed, escape danger and stay overnight. It feeds on fruits, small vertebrates, insects, nectar, eggs and vegetables. For this work, 3 orthothanized animals were used, coming from the Scientific Creatory (CECRIMPAS) - UNIFEOB authorized by IBAMA as Process: nº 02027.003731 / 04-76. The techniques used were latex injection into the abdominal aorta to replenish the arterial bed, followed by fixation in a 10% formaldehyde solution. Muscles are individualized structures that cross one or more joints and by their contraction are able to transmit movements. In the coati the superficial muscles are: platysma, cutaneous trunk, orbicularis eye, orbicularis mouth, zygomatic, masseter, nasolabial lifter, pectoralis, abdominal, deltoid, brachycephalic, great dorsal, triceps brachial, biceps brachii, extensors, flexors, brachial, semitendinosus, semimembranosus, sartorius, biceps femoris, quadriceps, tensor fascia lata, gluteus. In this species studied, anatomical adaptations were found in the brachial and pelvic muscles that developed more than the other species (Puma, Alpaca, Dog, Cat), due to their climbing habit.
