Item Ação dos medicamentos Arnica montana e Calendula officinalis sobre a cicatrização de feridas incisas em ratos(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) CANELLA, Carolina L.; PEDRONI, Pâmela C.; SILVA, Angélica do R. C.In the present work, the healing effect of the homeopathic medicines Arnica montana and Calendula officinalis, administered after the induction of cutaneous trauma in Wistar rats, divided into four groups according to the treatment was evaluated. In group 1, Arnica montana CH6 was used; in group 2, Calendula officinalis CH6; in group 3, the association of Arnica montana CH6 and Calendula officinalis CH6; and group 4 was treated with alcoholic solution (Control group). All animals, regardless of the healing phase, were euthanized on the seventh day of treatment. The results obtained macroscopically with the use of Arnica montana were significantly better than those of the other groups, showing better healing. Then came the animals treated with Calendula officinalis and the combination of the medicines Arnica montana and Calendula officinalis, whose results were similar to those of the control group at several of the evaluated moments. No animal showed behavioral change, nor was there any sign of intoxication with any of the treatments.Item Leptospirose Canina: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) MORAES, Cíntia Miguel de; SILVA, Ana Paula Teixeira da; SAWADA, Marina Lie; TORRES, Maria Lúcia Marcucci; MELLO, Henry Bruno Barros; THOMÉ, Helder EstevesLeptospirosis is a disease of worldwide importance that affects several species of domestic animals and also man. It is caused by the mobile bacteria Leptospira sp. which is eliminated in the urine and enters the body through damaged skin or intact mucous membranes. This present report describes the case of a female dog attended at the Veterinary Hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University Fundação de Ensino Octavio Bastos (HOVET –UNIFEOB), showing apathy, anorexia, adipsia, dysuria, jaundice, pale mucous membranes, emesis with blood streaks , contact with rodents, updated immunization and the presence of three asymptomatic contacts. Animal was submitted to treatment with enrofloxacin and penicillin associated with supportive therapy, however, he died. On histopathological examination, post-autopsy was diagnosed with leptospirosis. The objective of this work was to report that even vaccinated dogs are susceptible to leptospirosis infection, due to a variety of serotypes existing in the environment.Item Análise macroscópica das papilas da língua do Quati(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) SOUZA, Aline Fernandes de; SANTOS, Amilton César dos; OLIVEIRA, Vanessa Cristina de; ROSA, Ricardo Alexandre; CARVALHO, Ana Flavia de; MANÇANARES, Celina de Almeida FurlanettoThe coati (Nasua nasua) is an animal that belongs to the Phylum Chordata, the Mammalia Class, the Carnivorous Order and the Procyonidae Family. These animals have habits of climbing trees to breed, escape from danger and stay overnight and feed on fruits, small vertebrates, insects, nectar, eggs and vegetables. For this work, 3 orthothanized animals were used, from the Scientific Creatory (CECRIMPAS) - UNIFEOB authorized by IBAMA with the Process: nº 02027.003731 / 04-76. The techniques used were latex injection into the abdominal aorta to replenish the arterial bed, followed by fixation in a 10% formaldehyde solution. In this work, the morphology of the coati (Nasua nasua) tongue papillae was described using a macroscopic method of dissection and photographic documentation. The tongues were removed, dissected and divided into three portions: rostral, medium and caudal. Macroscopically, it can be seen that the dorsal surface of the tongue presents filiform, fungiform, ditch and conical papillae distributed in the rostral, middle and caudal regions. According to the results it can be concluded that the coati tongue has macroscopic characteristics similar to canids, varying the number of ditched papillae.Item Eritrocitose decorrente de neoplasia em cão: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) GOMES, Gislaine de Cássia; VARZIM, Fernanda Leme S.B.Erythrocytoses are characterized by an increase in the number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin concentration and globular volume (VG or hematocrit) above the normal assessed for each species, race, sex and age. The globular volume above 50% characterizes a more viscous blood making it difficult to transport oxygen. This paper reports the case of a female dog, Sheepdog, 9 years old, who was seen at the Veterinary Hospital “Vicente Borelli” in São João da Boa Vista, SP, and who had a transmissible venereal tumor, abdominal neoplasia in ovary, uterus, spleen and lymph node . The blood counts performed significantly helped in the diagnosis, proving the association of these neoplasms with the erythrocyte alterations, called erythrocytosis.Item Utilização de larvas de moscas varejeiras da família calliphoridae, da espécie Chrysomya putoria para utilização em Bioterapia(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) FERNANDES, Maria Clara C.; TORRES, Maria Lúcia Marcucci; COSTA, Maria Candida de Oliveira; VARZIM, Fernanda L. S. BastosWhen thinking about working with biotherapy, the possibility of using blowflies of the Calliphroridae family, of the species Chrysomya putoria, was envisioned. These can be found in landfills, dumps, open markets, among other places. Its origin is from the Old World of Africa. This work aims to demonstrate how the creation of this species is carried out in the laboratory and to propose an action protocol to be carried out at HOVET Vicente Borelli - UNIFEOB in São João da Boa Vista.Item Manejo alimentar e reprodutivo do trinca ferro (Saltator similis) em cativeiro(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) NASCIMENTO, Priscila Leal do; TREVISAN, Thiago; IVO, Marcos AlexandreThis his literature review aims to describe the food and reproductive management of Trinca-Ferro (Saltator similis) in captivity, about 10,000 species of birds, of which almost a third occur in South America, considered the continent of birds. Brazil is recognized for its mega diversity, currently occupies the second place in numbers of bird species, with 1,822 species. The creation of Trinca-Ferro (Saltator similis) has been one of the greatest passions for bird breeders across Brazil. The bird has the characteristic of being very brave and of a lot of fiber, easy to read, excellent adaptation. Due to its strong and melodious singing, much appreciated by breeders, the natural populations of S. similis have been gradually decimated by the illegal traffic of wild animals. . This species can also be known in certain regions such as Pixarro, Estevão, Bico-de-Ferro, Tico-Tico Guloso, Trinca-Ferro-de-asa-verde, João Velho.Item Estudo macroscópico do aparelho respiratório do Quati (Nasua nasua)(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) OLIVEIRA, Vanessa Cristina de; SANTOS, Amílton Cesar dos; BERTASSOLI, Bruno Machado; ROSA, Ricardo Alexandre; CARVALHO, Ana Flávia de; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoThe coati (Nasua nasua) is a long-snouted procionid, small eyes and ears, which have long canines. Their color varies according to body regions, they are omnivorous animals with diurnal, terrestrial and arboreal habits, which feed mainly on fruits and small invertebrates. For the macroscopic description of the coati respiratory system (Nasua nasua), 5 orthothanged animals were used, which were used in other research carried out at this institution, from the Scientific Creatory (CECRIMPAS) - UNIFEOB authorized by IBAMA as the Process: nº 02027.003731 / 04-76 . These animals were already fixed in a 10% aqueous solution of formaldehyde. The structures were identified, dissected and photo-documented. The respiratory system comprises the lungs in a system of tubes that communicate the lung parenchyma with the external environment. In the coati the nose is located in a nasal plane with a pointed shape and facing top, with its nostrils, it has the dorsal nasal concha and the ventral nasal concha, with dorsal and ventral nasal meatus. The larynx has the four cartilages the arytenoid, cricoid, epiglottis and The trachea is a cartilaginous tube that contains tracheal rings. The lungs are subdivided into lobes by deep interlobar fissures, the right lung is divided into 4 lobes and is larger than the left while the left lung has only 2 lobes. We have concluded so far that the coati respiratory system is similar to the findings described in the literature for domestic carnivores.Item Retenção de mecônio em potro: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) RUFATO, Carolina Oliveira Andrade; MORAES, Mariana Mara; ABREU, Rogério Navarro de; FERREIRA, Francisco Pupo PiresA two-day-old Puro Sangue Inglês (PSI) foal was sent to the Veterinary Hospital of the Fundação Octávio Bastos, São João da Boa Vista-SP with abdominal pain a few hours after birth. Conservative treatment was unsuccessful then he was referred to surgery for an exploratory laparotomy with minor colon enterotomy. The animal was discharged after one week.Item Estudo macroscópico da glândula de cheiro do Quati (Nasua nasua)(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) BERTASSOLI, Bruno Machado; OLIVEIRA, Vanessa C. de; SANTOS, Amilton César dos; CARVALHO, Ana Flávia de; MANÇANARES, Celina de Almeida FurlanettoThe coati, is an animal with wide distribution in South America, occurring from Colombia, Venezuela to the north of Uruguay and Argentina. The general characteristics of the mamalia class are the body covered with hair (few in some) changed periodically and skin with many glands (sebaceous, sweat, odoriferous and mammary). The coati has a preputial gland, whose main function is to demarcate territory. Other animals also have demarcating glands, however, in different anatomical regions. Coatis are very territorial, and the males demarcate their territory through fights that cause serious injuries due to their cutting teeth, and secretions, among them, secretions from the preputial gland. Therefore, this work aims to study this gland, characterizing it morphologically and relating it to the reproductive behavior of males of this species. For the present study, six adult male coatis were used, provided by the scientific breeder CECRIMPAS (UNIFEOB). The preputial glands were photographed and measured, for their macroscopic characterization. As a result under macroscopic observation, the preputial glands were arranged circularly to the foreskin, forming a large increase in the region. Numerous glandular secretory ostia could be seen macroscopically when the gland was pressed to collect its secretion. The glandular secretion was stored in the gland in large quantities and had a white and viscous color.Item Morfologia das glândulas mandibulares dos Quatis(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) SANTOS, Amilton César dos; OLIVEIRA, Vanessa Cristina de; BERTASSOLI, Bruno Machado; ROSA, Ricardo Alexandre; CARVALHO, Ana Flávia de; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoNasua nasua (coatis) are animals of daytime habit, widely found in Brazilian territory. These animals belong to the masked family as well as the naked hand. Its behavior is diurnal and its characteristic physical elements are the trumpet-shaped snout and the long tail used to maintain balance. For the study of the mandibular glands, 3 orthothanged animals were used, from the Scientific Creator-CECRIMPAS (IBAMA 02027.003731 / 04-76). The techniques used were latex injection into the abdominal aorta to replenish the arterial bed, followed by fixation in a 10% formaldehyde solution. The coatis mandibular salivary glands were identified, dissected, extracted, processed and prepared for observation under an optical microscope in the hematoxylin and eosin stains, toluidine blue, picrossirius and PAS and photocumented. The coatis mandibular glands were found just below the masseter muscle and were 2.9 cm long, 1.5 cm wide and 0.8 cm thick on average. It can be concluded that, macroscopically, the mandibular salivary glands of coatis are similar in appearance and positioning to those of the other carnivores already studied. They are macroscopically multilobed and microscopically multilobulated and are constituted by mixed acini (serocomucous), a few serous acini, have striated ducts (secretors) and intercalated ducts that lead the saliva from the alveoli to the secretory ducts.Item Incidência de giardíase em cães atendidos no Hospital Veterinário do UNIFEOB em São João da Boa Vista(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) CARLOS, Camila Zeferino; NUNES, Poliana Ferraz; SILVA, Tainá da; SILVA, Angélica do Rocio CarvalhoGiardia is a protozoan that affects several animal species including man. It is transmitted through contaminated water and food containing cysts, through fecal and oral means, direct animal-animal contact, where animals are clustered. This parasite causes poor digestion of nutrients, pale and fetid stools, steatorrhea, chronic diarrhea, weight loss or small weight gain. In this work, the incidence of giardiasis in dogs treated at the Veterinary Hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos was verified. Of the 981 dogs treated from April 2008 to April 2009, 26 had canine giardiasis. The present study found that females were the most affected and the highest incidence was in adult dogs. In relation to the period of the year, autumn had a higher number of diagnoses, due to the average temperature in this season varying according to the region of the country.Item Demodicose Canina: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) SILVA, Flávia Martins da; SOUZA NETO, José Roberto de; BASTOS, Rafaela Barrios de Moraes; BENATO, Talita Mascarim; TORRES, Maria Lúcia MarcucciDemodicosis is a chronic dermatological disease of genetic predisposition that affects dogs. It is caused by the mite Demodex canis, which is a natural inhabitant of the skin of these animals. The diagnosis is made through skin scraping. An animal of the canine species, female, nine months old, mixed breed, with fourteen kilos of body weight was sent to the Veterinary Hospital, for an ovariosalpingohisterectomy when it was found that she presented a dermatological picture, compatible with demodicosis, A physical examination was performed and a skin scrape, in which he detected the presence of the demodex canis mite, was prescribed Doxycycline (Doxitin ®), Dipyrone (Dipyrone ®), Ivermectin 1% (Mectimax®), and My pet®. (D -Fenotrine and Piriproxifen). After 30 days the animal returned a little better compared to the first consultation, but the owner reported that he used Doxitin ® but did not give Mectimax ® or passed My pet ® (D-Phenotrine and Piriproxifen). On this day it was Amitraz and Ivermectin. On the second return after 70 days, the animal had a significant improvement, but the owner made use of Ivermectin and a drug based on fipronil.Item Características, lobação e segmentação de pulmões dos Quatis(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) SANTOS, Amilton César dos; OLIVEIRA, Vanessa Cristina de; ROSA, Ricardo Alexandre; CARVALHO, Ana Flávia de; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoThe coati (Nasua nasua) is a procionid with a flexible snout, small eyes and ears, which have long canines. They are omnivorous animals with diurnal, terrestrial and arboreal habits, which feed mainly on fruits and small invertebrates. For this work, 3 orthothanized animals were used, coming from the Scientific Creatory (CECRIMPAS) - UNIFEOB authorized by IBAMA as Process: nº 02027.003731 / 04-76. The techniques used were latex injection into the abdominal aorta to replenish the arterial bed, followed by fixation in a 10% formaldehyde solution. The coatis lungs were collected, analyzed macroscopically to establish the pulmonary lobation, where 4 pulmonary lobes (cranial, middle, accessory and caudal) can be found on the right side of the coatis lung and 2 left lobes (cranial and caudal). Then, the hilum was identified to check the bronchial behavior before penetrating the pulmonary parenchyma, and then the dissection started, determining the bronchipulmonary segmentation of the coatis, where it was found that the bronchial tree of the coatis has 24 segmental bronchi.Item Laserterapia: indicações em Medicina Veterinária(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) LIMA, Regina Farias; SILVA, Angélica do Rocio CarvalhoLaser therapy is a therapeutic method, where the patient is submitted to a sequence of low-power electromagnetic waves, whose main characteristic is to reduce the harmful effects of inflammation and accelerate the healing process of injured tissues. The indications for this therapy are related to processes of tissue repair of wounds, reduction of painful joint, muscle and bone processes and causing various therapeutic effects beneficial to the patient. Like any other therapy, laser therapy has contraindications such as a pregnant uterus, tumors, among others and, in addition, it is performed on equipment that requires special care and professionals responsible for its handling.Item Hipotiroidismo em cães(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) AVANÇO, Pâmela de Cássia; TORRES, Maria Lúcia MarcucciPrimary hypothyroidism is an endocrine disorder characterized by destruction of the thyroid resulting in deficiency in the production of hormones T3 and T4 and affecting the body's metabolic processes. Dogs are usually affected during middle age and show lethargy, weight gain, alopecia, pyoderma and seborrhea. As soon as the problem is diagnosed, treatment with synthetic levothyroxine must be initiated and the animal must be monitored periodically through laboratory tests, allowing the control of hormones.Item Relação da hiperglicemia com a catarata biabetogênica em cães(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) MARSOLLA, Eduardo H.; FUKUTI, Renata A.; ROCHA, Lívia M. S.; TORRES, Maria L. M.; OLIVEIRA, Priscila C. deDiabetes mellitus, also known as insulin-dependent diabetes, is a metabolic disorder characterized by hypoinsulinemia, meaning the animal's inability to maintain glycemic control. It is the result of the loss of function of the cells of the pancreas, which are responsible for the production of insulin. With the fall of the circulating hormone, it is difficult to transport glucose from the blood to most cells, generating an increase in gluconeogenesis, hepatic glycogenolysis and production of ketone bodies. Cataracts are an important problem in ophthalmology and common in cases of dogs with diabetes mellitus, since glucose saturation directly interferes with osmolarity through sorbitol inside the lens. Cataracts are the opacification of the lens resulting in loss of vision in the affected eye, which is usually bilateral in cases of diabetogenic cataracts and which can result not only in problems with visual impairment, but also in relevant secondary problems including even the loss of the eyeball. Unfortunately, there is no medication available for the treatment of cataracts, but in the case of diabetogenic cataracts, there are drugs that inhibit the enzyme aldose reductase and cause the cataract process to minimize its progression. However, the only viable treatment is surgical, with aspiration / dissection, intracapsular facetomy and phacoemulsification techniques being available to solve the problem.Item A importância do custo de oportunidade no orçamento da cultura familiar(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) BERTO, Vinicius; COSTA, Maria Candida de Oliveira; BERTO, Marco AntônioThe expansion of family farming as a result of the phenomenon called agrarian reform has markedly increased the number of family farmers who are not always well structured in order to measure their performance taking into account effectiveness and efficiency. Economic Management - Gecon, as responsible for planning, execution and control, and Accounting responsible for recording and measuring events, has been influenced by the need for standardization and the co-existence of agricultural management. This exploratory study inherent to the standard budget for family farming, aims to highlight the problem of farmers' management, indicating directions for better performance. The concepts of effectiveness, supported by the economic concepts of opportunity cost, replacement price, constant currency and present value of the flow of benefits were used in order to measure the effectiveness of the market standard.Item Homeopatia no tratamento de neoplasias em pequenos animais(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) SILVA, Gabriela Cardoso de Souza; FERREIRA, Mariana Albiero; SILVA, Angélica do Rocio CarvalhoCancer is considered a serious disease for a number of aspects. The emotional issues involving the patient and its owner, the side effects of conventional treatments and their rapid proliferation, generate a lot of prejudice and fear in relation to this disease. Homeopathy is an alternative treatment against this disease, which treats the sick individual as a whole, worrying about the body and the mind. It is a therapy that heals without harming the patient, restoring his vital energy, which was shaken by the neoplasm.Item Estudo de embriões ovinos em laboratório a partir de doadoras juvenis da raça Santa Inês submetidas a estimulação ovariana(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) MARTINS, João Flávio Panattoni; SANTOS, Thainá de Oliveira; SILVA, Marcos Donizete da; SOUZA, Bruna Nanzer; OLIVEIRA, Priscila Carvalho de; FIGUEIREDO, Cristiane Leite; ROSAS FILHO, Adauto de Carvalho; ABREU, Rogério Navarro deThis study aimed to verify the superovulatory response of juvenile Santa Inês sheep and to evaluate the viability of oocytes obtained for in vitro production (IVP) of embryos. Eight females aged between 6 and 8 weeks were selected, distributed in 2 homogeneous groups of 04 animals. The females in Group 1 (G1) were submitted to exogenous ovarian stimulation and in Group 2 (G2) the females were aspirated free of hormonal treatment. From a total of 309 retrieved oocytes (G1 = 187 and G2 = 122), cleavage rates of 49.2% and 40.2% were obtained for G1 (n = 92) and G2 (n = 45) respectively, and 18.72% and 17.96% of viable embryo development in D7 (G1 = 35 and G2 = 19). Although the results suggest a better efficiency in the recovery of oocytes and cleavage rate in G1, the rates of obtaining viable embryos in D7 did not differ numerically between the two groups. Our results suggest that, although there was great variation in the amount of oocytes obtained and the production of embryos among animals, regardless of treatment, the production of embryos by in vitro fertilization (IVF) from juvenile females treated or not with exogenous hormones proved to be viable, even with good efficiency of the hormonal protocol used for females of the Santa Inês breed.Item Presença de inclusão semelhante a anaplasma platys (Ehrlichia platys) em gato: relato de dois casos(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) GOMES, Gislaine de Cássia; PEACH, Priscilla; VARZIM, Fernanda Leme S. B.Ehrlichiosis is a disease caused by gram-negative intracellular bacteria that belongs to the Order Rickettsiales, Family Anaplasmataceae, genera Ehrlichia and Anaplasma, with the genus Ehrlichia canis infecting mononuclear cells, and Anaplasma platys infects only platelets. Often the clinical signs presented are nonspecific. This work reports the occurrence in two cats that presented in their laboratory exams, morulae suggestive of Anaplasma platys. These animals were treated at the Veterinary Hospital “Vicente Borelli” in São João da Boa Vista, SP. In one case, a three-month-old cat with a history of motor incoordination, apathy and anorexia. The other case, an eleven-year-old cat, with a history of injury to the left eye, easy tiredness, wheezing and coughing. In both cases described, the presence of inclusion in a platelet similar to Anaplasma platys was observed in the blood smear.
