Orchiectomy is a procedure that removes the animal's testicles, promoting docility and better social interaction, and also treats pathologies of the reproductive system. Quality anesthesia is essential to avoid complications and ensure animal welfare. In the anesthetic context, α2 adrenergic agonists are widely used in horses for sedation and analgesia. During orchiectomy, local anesthesia with lidocaine reduces blood pressure response and relieves muscle tension, complementing general anesthesia. In horses, anesthetic procedures are crucial for safe interventions. Through this work, we propose to report a successful castration in a horse, with positive results and good recovery, which was treated at the UNIFEOB Veterinary Center.

Traumatic periostitis is a periosteal inflammation that may be caused by direct or indirect trauma and may affect young and adult animals. The clinical symptoms of the disease include increased volume and lameness. Diagnosis is made through a thorough physical examination and additional tests, such as ultrasound of the digit and radiography. The prognosis is reserved to good, taking into account the time of evolution and the location of the lesion. The objective of this study is to report a case of traumatic periostitis in a male horse that was referred to the Veterinary Center (CV) of UNIFEOB, for the purpose of a surgical procedure for exostosis in the 4th metacarpal of the Left Forelimb (MAE).
