    Since the human being began to transform available energies from nature, several impacts are associated with this transformation and started to generate impacts on the environment. Some of these impacts began to be understood recently with the emergence of ecological thinking. In Brazil today, the generation of electric energy from hydroelectric plants accounts for seventy-five percent of the installed capacity (ANEEL, 2008). The existence of large rivers, the geography of the Brazilian territory and the rainfall rates recorded in certain regions of the country justify the option for this generation matrix.

    Indústrias Nucleares Do Brasil - S / A (INB) is a government mining company specialized in uranium extraction. Founded in 1988, it incorporated the companies that were part of Nuclebrás, created to comply with the Brazil - Germany Nuclear Agreement. The company has units in the State of Rio de Janeiro in the cities of Resende and Buena, in Caetité in Bahia, in Caldas in the State of Minas Gerais and in the capital of São Paulo, having its headquarters in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, an office in Fortaleza in Ceará and a project base in Santa Quitéria. Its mission is "To provide products and services associated with the nuclear fuel cycle, aimed at generating electricity, with safety, quality and sustainability." (BRASIL.INB. 2020) Uranium mining in Brazil started in Caldas-MG, in 1982, ending its activities a decade later, in 1995, when INB declared that exploration was economically unfeasible. The unit is still monitored due to the radioactive materials that are stored at the site, in order to ensure the protection of the environment and the health of workers and the population of the region.

    Alcoa is one of the three largest aluminum companies in the world, joining with Alcan and Rusal, its headquarters are in the United States. It is currently distributed in 44 countries. Operating in Brazil since 1965, it is responsible for 20% of aluminum production, it is a company dedicated to shared and sustainable development. It has operations in several links in the aluminum production chain, from bauxite mining, to the refining of alumina, production of aluminum ingots and powder - among all units in the world, these are produced only in Brazil. It works with shared development based on excellence and operational safety, economic performance, social impact and environmental protection, striving to build a better future. Founded in 1965, the primary aluminum plant in Poços de Caldas (MG), was Alcoa's first unit in Brazil.
