    Fibropapilomatose em tartarugas marinhas: revisão de literatura

    Fibropapillomatosis is fatal and is among the biggest problems for the conservation of sea turtles, which have all their species threatened with extinction. It is a disease characterized by the presence of multiple skin tumors that can also affect internal organs, and its origin is still unknown, but its possible relationship with a viral agent and its predisposing factors has been extensively studied. Affected animals are debilitated with fluctuation disorders, cachexia, hypoproteinemia, uremia, elevation of liver enzymes, profound anemia, parasitosis, gastrointestinal tract disorders and pneumonia. Thus, the diagnosis is obtained from the macroscopic aspects of the lesions, physical examination findings and for an exact confirmation it is necessary to perform a biopsy or a histopathological examination. Therefore, a surgical treatment is used, which can be combined with other methods, such as supportive therapy, phototherapy, cryotherapy, chemotherapy and antivirals, to try to provide a better prognosis.
