Item Piodermatite Profunda: relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) MICHELETTI, Carolina Dantas; BENTO, Maria Gabriela; SANTOS, Pedro Henrique Avelino dos; FERREIRA, Júlia Eliza; SOUZA, Mariely Thaís deDeep pyoderma is a dermatological condition increasingly present in the veterinary clinical routine, caused by a pyogenic infection of bacterial origin. This paper describes a case of deep pyoderma in an eight-year-old, mixed-breed bitch, who had skin complaints since she was four years old, with a history of unresponsive treatments. The animal had alopecic areas, hyperpigmentation, papules, pustules, hyperkeratosis and generalized desquamation. The diagnosis was confirmed through histopathological examination, which indicated the presence of cellulitis, furunculosis and folliculitis, so the treatment consisted of antibiotic therapy, whose clinical improvement was significant.Item Persistência do úraco em potros: revisão bibliográfica(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) ALCANTARA, Isadora Novelli de; VERONEZI, Nathália Giovana; PESSINATTI, Bárbara DezottiOne of the most common complications in foals is the persistence of urachus, it affects about 6% of newborns and can develop within days or even weeks after birth. This non-regression of the fetal urinary tract, which under normal circumstances is obliterated soon after birth, causes the elimination of urine to take place through the navel. The most common clinical signs are moist and swollen umbilical region and dripping of urine through the navel, sporadically or during urination. Diagnosis is based on inspection, palpation and confirmed by ultrasound examination. Treatment should be initiated using broad-spectrum antibiotics, cleaning and disinfection of the region and, in non-responsive cases, surgical correction.Item Pitiose cutânea em equinos: relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) CARVALHO, Bárbara; SILVA, Letícia Ellen; CELOTTI, Gustavo; PESSINATTI, Bárbara DezottiPythiosis is a disease that affects several species, however, equines are the most affected. It is caused by Phythium insidiosum, an oomycete that has tropism for swampy and hot areas, due to this, the incidence of the pathology is higher in regions and environments with the presence of water. It is characterized by ulcerative lesions of high proliferative power, intense pruritus and serosanguineous appearance. The definitive diagnosis is made through the clinical aspect and complementary exams, and its treatment can be carried out by chemical, surgical or immunotherapeutic methods, being evaluated the best for each case and, if necessary, associated. Through this work, it is proposed to report a case of pythiosis, with clinical resolution, in a horse treated at the Veterinary Hospital of UNIFEOB.Item Alimentação natural para cães: prós e contras - revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) ANDRÈ, Andressa Yasmim Fernandes; ALVES, Ana Luiza de Andrade; NUNES, Alanne TenórioCurrently, the changing relationship between pets and tutors has generated interest in food alternatives, which are constantly growing. One of them is natural food, in which, in general, products intended for human consumption are used, such as: meats, fruits, vegetables, eggs, fats and dairy products. These foods can be presented as: extruded, pasteurized, cooked and raw, and have been modified to satisfy different consumption habits, prioritizing the nutrients required by the animal at the moment. The main reasons that lead tutors to change the ration for this type of feeding are: not understanding industrialized food labels, lack of option for a prescription diet in a given clinical situation, personal eating behavior, influence of the internet and friends, desire to cooking for your pet and strengthening the human-animal bond. The search for well-being, quality of life and increased longevity has caused changes in the pet food market. This modality is a potential market and emerged to meet the demand of increasingly demanding owners regarding the food and nutrition of their pets. In order for the animal to benefit from natural food, it is essential that the tutor strictly follows all the indications made by the nutritionist veterinarian.Item Influência do escore de condição corporal sobre o balanço energético negativo de vacas leiteiras(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) MAGALHÃES FILHO, Everton Luis; SOARES, Walkiria Helena R.; NUNES, Alanne TenórioNegative energy balance is a condition that occurs at the beginning of the lactation period, when high production animals are not able to consume enough to meet their nutritional requirements, due to the high utilization of nutrients for lactogenesis. The accumulation of body fat has an influence on metabolism in the period of initiation of lactation, reducing the impacts of diet deficiency. However, animals with a high body condition score tend to suffer more from negative energy balance, resulting in exacerbated catabolic processes, in addition to reproductive dysfunction. The increase in non-esterified fatty acids in the circulation, resulting from lipolysis, leads to an increase in circulating ketone bodies, characterizing a condition of ketosis.Item Rhodococcus Equi em potros(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) ALEM, Hionara Isys; NOVAIS, Maria Eduarda Lopes; PESSINATTI, Bárbara DezottiRhodococcus is a disease of worldwide distribution caused by Rhodococcus equi. It is responsible for high mortality rates and great economic losses, regardless of race, sex or breeding system. It leads to severe bronchopneumonia in foals under six months of age due to their immunological immaturity. Diagnosis and treatment are based on a multimodal approach seeking ultrasound evidence suggestive of pyogranulomas, ultrasound abscess scores, and laboratory findings, including plasma fibrinogen concentrations, blood biochemical tests, and platelet and leukocyte counts.Item Úlcera de córnea em felinos(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) PORCEL, Lidiane Moreira; TORRES, Maria Lúcia MarcucciThe cornea of cats is composed of four layers: epithelium, stroma, Descemet's membrane and endothelium. Corneal ulcer occurs when there is a rupture of the epithelial layer and exposure of the stroma, and can be classified according to its etiology and depth. In cases where only the epithelium is injured, the ulcer is called superficial, and when there is a loss of part of the stromal layer, it is called deep. Descemetocele occurs when the stromal layer is completely lost and Descemet's membrane is exposed. Corneal rupture occurs when Descemet's layer is completely lost. Corneal ulcer in cats is usually caused by trauma, but bacterial and viral infections such as Herpesvirus, corneal dryness and endocrine diseases are factors that can also culminate in its appearance. The clinical signs observed in patients with some type of corneal ulcer are: blepharospasm, epiphora, photophobia, conjunctival hyperemia, corneal edema and miosis. Treatment depends on the severity of the ulceration and the primary cause, and may be clinical with the use of topical antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and 1% atropine, or surgical using one or more procedures together.Item Intoxicação por Fumonisina B1 em Equideos : revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) OLIVEIRA, Maisa Carla de; TORRES, Guilherme Oliveira de; FONSECA, Pedro Augusto Loures de Carvalho; PESSINATTI, Bárbara DezottiLeukoencephalomalacia is a highly fatal neurotoxic process that affects equines, leading to degeneration of the white matter of the brain. The other form of intoxication is hepatic, where it assumes that the effects are milder and easier to reverse. The disease is caused by the ingestion of mycotoxin fumonisin B1, which is a toxic metabolite produced by the fungus Fusarium moniliforme, found in corn that is stored in precarious conditions. The period of highest incidence of the disease is between the months of June and September. Symptoms include incoordination, aimless walking, anorexia, lethargy, depression and head pressing, with the evolution of the clinical picture there may be convulsions, coma and death. Clinical signs usually appear acutely and death can occur within hours or a few days. Typical macroscopic lesions of leukoencephalomalacia include liquefactive necrosis of the cerebral hemispheres. The diagnosis is based on the animal's history, detailed anamnesis focusing on food management, analysis of the corn offered and complementary exams. Considered palliative, the treatment aims to alleviate the symptoms presented. The prognosis of this condition is considered unfavorable and the prevention is of paramount importance, because only with proper food management it is possible to avoid the disease.Item Uveíte recorrente secundária a leptospirose em equinos: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) BIZAIA, Emily Cristina; LINO, Estefany Zerbeto Basilio; PESSINATTI, Bárbara DezottiCharacterized by recurrent episodes of inflammation and Immune-mediated response, interrupted by periods of quiescence, Equine Recurrent Uveitis (ERU) is a pathology that usually occurs secondary to infection by Leptospira spp. It mainly affects the uveal tract, which is composed of the iris, ciliary body and choroid, and can be divided into acute, insidious (asymptomatic) and chronic. In the acute phase, clinical signs such as epiphora, hyphema, hypopyon, blepharospasm, hypotonia and miosis are present. The chronic phase encompasses the terminal signs of the disease, such as cataracts, lens dislocation or subluxation, retinal detachment and blindness. The diagnosis is made through a thorough ophthalmic examination, combined with serology to identify the bacteria Leptospira spp. Treatment aims to preserve the integrity of vision, reduce eye discomfort, control inflammation and eliminate bacteria. The prognosis for vision depends on the involvement of the eye's component structures. Sanitary management and vector control are of paramount importance for preventing Leptospirosis infection, and consequently, reducing the occurrence of uveitis.Item Dermatite atópica canina: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) ANDRADE, Camila Fernanda de; LANDGRAF, Leticia Chaim; DONEGÁ, Natália Silva Bueno; TORRES, Maria Lúcia MarcucciCanine atopic dermatitis (CAD) is a multifactorial pathology, of type I hypersensitivity with IgE production and dependent on the animal's immune system, its breed, age, place where it lives and seasonality. In addition, it may be related to other conditions, such as food hypersensitivity and allergic dermatitis to ectoparasite bites (DAPE), or present symptoms very similar to other skin diseases. Regarding the clinical signs, the animal presents pruritus, alopecia, edema, lichenification, hyperpigmentation, pustules, hyperkeratosis, ferruginous dyschromia and secondary infections. Therefore, the diagnosis of CAD is based on a complete anamnesis, clinical signs, general clinical, dermatological and complementary exams for a diagnosis of exclusion. Thus, the treatment is lifelong and is based on the control of clinical symptoms, consisting of the use of topical therapies, desensitization, fatty acids, antihistamines and occasionally immunosuppressive drugs. The prognosis is good, although there is no cure, control can be performed promoting a quality of life for the patient.Item Principais características dos tumores da parede perivascular de cães: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) PIROLA, Júlia Cecília; PARRA, Pamela Custódio; MATINELLI, Paulo Edson BaptistaPerivascular wall tumors (PPT) are cutaneous neoplasms of mesenchymal origin resulting from different non-endothelial cellular components of the vascular wall, such as pericytes, myopericytes, adventitious cells and myofibroblasts. They commonly affect medium and large dogs from middle age to elderly and there is no sexual predilection. It is considered a locally invasive tumor and rarely causes metastases, expressing a benign behavior with potential malignancy. They usually present as solitary, multilobulated, infiltrating tumors, with a grayish white to red color, with a soft or firm consistency, located in the subcutaneous tissue, close to the joints of the limbs, with the thoracic limbs having the highest incidence. This neoplasm has aspects similar to peripheral nerve sheath tumors, being necessary to make the diagnosis by the anatomopathology of the tumor and its distinction from other mesenchymal tumors through immunohistochemistry.Item Fibropapilomatose em tartarugas marinhas: revisão de literatura(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) LANDGRAF, Leticia Chaim; DONEGÁ, Natália Silva Bueno; AIUB, Plinio BrunoFibropapillomatosis is fatal and is among the biggest problems for the conservation of sea turtles, which have all their species threatened with extinction. It is a disease characterized by the presence of multiple skin tumors that can also affect internal organs, and its origin is still unknown, but its possible relationship with a viral agent and its predisposing factors has been extensively studied. Affected animals are debilitated with fluctuation disorders, cachexia, hypoproteinemia, uremia, elevation of liver enzymes, profound anemia, parasitosis, gastrointestinal tract disorders and pneumonia. Thus, the diagnosis is obtained from the macroscopic aspects of the lesions, physical examination findings and for an exact confirmation it is necessary to perform a biopsy or a histopathological examination. Therefore, a surgical treatment is used, which can be combined with other methods, such as supportive therapy, phototherapy, cryotherapy, chemotherapy and antivirals, to try to provide a better prognosis.Item Alterações em cães após os procedimentos de ovariohisterectomia e orquiectomia: revisão bibliográfica(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) BIZAIA, Emily Cristina; LINO, Estefany Zerbeto Basilio; SOUZA, Mariely Thaís deKnowing that ovariohysterectomy (OH) and orchiectomy (OQ) procedures are extremely important for the control of some diseases such as breast neoplasms, pyometra, prostatic diseases, uterine prolapses or torsions and knowing that many tutors go to veterinary clinics with complaints of obesity, diabetes mellitus or other endocrine diseases, behavior changes, increased amount of food intake and skin diseases after your animals are neutered. This review aims to bring information about some changes in dogs caused after these procedures.Item Hiperplasia Endometrial Cistica: Piometra(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) SANTOS, Lauani Teresa Sala dos; GIÃO, Letycia Martuci; LORO, Maria Gabriela Soares; TORRES, Maria Lúcia MarcucciPyometra is a condition that affects the reproductive tract of females, characterized by the accumulation of purulent secretion in the uterine lumen that comes from cystic endometrial hyperplasia associated with a bacterial infection. It mainly affects middle-aged and elderly bitches and can present in two ways, with the cervix open or with the cervix closed. Its diagnosis is based on anamnesis, clinical signs, physical and complementary exams, with ultrasound being the most important. Symptoms include apathy, anorexia, lethargy, abdominal pain, emesis, polyuria, and polydipsia. The treatment of pyometra can be clinical or surgical, depending on the general condition of the patient and future reproductive purpose.Item Diagnóstico da Síndrome Podotroclear em Equinos: alterações radiográficas e ultrassonográficas(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) TODERO, Larissa M.; RIBEIRO, Camila; ALAYON, Ana Carolina E.; MATIAS, Lizandra C.; REIS, Laysla D.; RODRIGUES, Paulo D.; PESSINATTI, Bárbara D.Podotrochlear syndrome, also known as navicular bone syndrome, in horses, is characterized by chronic and progressive pain. Its etiopathogenesis is still not fully understood, but the theory of biomechanics is the most defended. Its diagnosis is performed through orthopedic examination, perineural blocks and complementary exams, the most used being radiography and ultrasound. Radiography becomes the exam of choice for confirmation of this syndrome, the projections of choice are lateromedial, dorsoproximalpalmaro/plantarodistal oblique and palmaro/plantaroproximal-palmaro/plantarodistal oblique, better known as Skyline. Among the alterations found in the radiographic examination, there are changes in the size and number of synovial invaginations, sclerosis, loss of corticomedullary definition and cortical erosion. However, not all animals that present clinical signs present radiographic signs, therefore, lesions in soft tissues that make up the podotrochlear apparatus may be involved. Therefore, the ultrasound examination is relevant. The distal palmar/plantar accesses of the hip and the transcuneal approach are performed and the alterations found mainly affect the deep digital flexor tendon, the navicular bursa and the annular ligament of the distal sesamoid bone.Item O uso do Remifentanil na Anestesiologia Veterinária(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2022-09-09) CHANQUETTE, Maria Vitória Marchenta; MARINO, Ana Júlia Fornari; LANDGRAF, Leticia Chaim; BONFANTE, Juliana da SilvaIn Veterinary Medicine, opioids are frequently used to treat pain in different situations. These opioid analgesics, which are effective and safe agents, such as Remifentanil, a synthetic selective μ receptor agonist drug, which has a particularity in its chemical composition, which helps to prevent pain and consequently hemodynamic stability during its use. in surgical procedures, allowing its administration in addition to bolus, continuous intravenous infusion for prolonged periods. Its use in anesthetic protocols helps pre, intra and postoperative analgesia and leads to a reduction in injectable anesthetic drug doses, in the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of inhalation anesthetics and in a decrease in the rate of propofol infusion in total intravenous anesthesia ( TIVA).
