- Item Adenocarcinoma de glândula salivar em cão: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) GOIOZO, Paulo Felipe Izique; MOURA, Veridiana M.B. Dignani de; BANDARRA, Enio P.The corpse of a dog of the Dobermann breed, female, approximately eight years old, cachectic, dehydrated and with a history of increased volume in the last nine months, was referred to the Pathology Service of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine '' Octávio Bastos '' progressive in the cervical region. Subjected to necroscopic examination, it was observed that the cervical mass occupied the parotid region and at the cut presented bloody mucus content located in connective tissue stores, infiltrating the adjacent tissues; collected material and processed for histopathological examination, allowed the diagnosis of papillary adenocarcinoma of the salivary gland, in addition to pulmonary congestion and edema, and the liver showed periportal fibrosis, dilation of the sinusoid spaces and hepatic necrosis.
- Item Anemia infecciosa equina(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) FREIRE, André Fernando; BANDARRA, Enio PedoneInfectious equine anemia is a disease caused by a retrovirus that multiplies in the endolelial reticulum, is highly contagious and transmitted by the bite of blood-sucking insects, and contaminated instruments such as needles, hardware, etc. Due to the high mutation power of the virus, vaccine production is very difficult, and the adoption of prophylactic control measures remains an alternative to reduce the spread of the disease.
- Item Apoptose na placenta do búfalo(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) PEREIRA, Flávia Thomaz Verechia; MIGLINO, Maria Angélica; PETRONI, Natália Luiza; CARVALHO, Ana Flávia de; DAGLI, Maria Lúcia ZaidanThe ruminant placenta has a very uniform macroscopic structure, based on specialized areas of apposition and proliferation of maternal fetal membranes: the placentones (LEISER et al, 1994; LEISER et al, 1997a; LEISER et al, 1997b). Showing a fundamental role for the success of pregnancy, these structures have been extensively studied in several species of domestic animals of commercial interest. In these areas of contact between mother and fetus, apoptosis (programmed cell death) occurs, appearing with 7-10 months of pregnancy, however the pregnancy of the buffalo is 10 months and apoptosis is visualized in these late stages of pregnancy.
- Item Aspectos gerais da cicatrização(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) GOIOZO, Paulo Felipe Izique; LIMA, Marcelo Cardoso de; BANDARRA, Enio PedoneHealing is the process by which a specific wound is repaired, which may have been caused by different mechanisms, such as: cuts, trauma, burns, etc. The healing process involves four phases, namely: inflammation phase, fibroblast phase, maturation and remodeling. Traditionally, there are two forms of healing used in clinical care: healing by first intention, where the edges of the wound are brought together through sutures and healing by second intention, where new tissue is formed at the base of the wound.
- Item Aspectos imunológicos da cinomose canina(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) CANTARELLI, Ana Lúcia; JACOBUCCI, Daniela Franco CarvalhoThis is a review article on the canine distemper virus, of the Paramixoviridae Family, which causes a multisystemic contagious disease, affecting the respiratory, gastroentestinal and central nervous systems. The basis of the immune response to viral infection is cellular, but a high titer of antibodies is detected a few days after viral contact. Serological tests have been used recently and assist veterinarians in the diagnosis of distemper. The best prevention against the disease is vaccination but these are available in several different types each with its advantages and disadvantages.
- Item Aspectos macro e microscópico de leishmaniose canina(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) LIMA, Marcela C. de; GOIOZO, Paulo F. L.; BANDARRA, Enio P.; BONATELLI, Marina; CARVALHO, Ana Flavia deThe classification and nomenclature of Leishimanias offer enormous difficulties, because all species are morphologically very similar; cause diseases with different clinical characteristics and so peculiar that they cannot attribute their etiology to the same pathogen. This classification is traditionally based on geographic distribution (Old World and New World), clinical symptoms, pathological findings and serology BRAVO et al. (1993). According to LOPES et al. (1987) leishimaniasis is an inflammatory disease of the skin, mucosa or viscera, caused by protozoan parasites, mandatory intracellular kinetoplastids, transmitted through the bites of infected sandflies.
- Item Aspectos na identificação das serpentes brasileiras(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) MUNIZ, Thiago M.; SERÓDIO, João F. A.; SILVA, Gustavo Bauer C. da; HABERMANN, Heraldo M.; SILVA, Adriano Bauer C. daThese types of animals are the least studied by science, which is why they are indiscriminately persecuted in the face of so much lack of information. They exist in almost any type of environment, not only living in cold places, as they are ectothermic. The anatomical characteristics (eyes, head, tail, scales, loreal focula, location of the bite) and identification according to the teeth (aglifas, ospitogrifas, proteroglifas, solenoglifas) are essential for a good recognition and to undo some beliefs. The identification of snakes will facilitate the diagnosis as much as possible so that the appropriate treatment is made, both for people and animals.
- Item Atualização sobre sertolioma em cães(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) CANAVES, Karla Christina; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoSertolioma occurs more frequently in elderly and cryptorchidic dogs. Sertoli cells are responsible for physical support, protection and nutrition for developing gametes. Sertoli cells secrete estrogen, so the animal usually shows signs of hyperestrogen such as feminization, gynecomastia, alopecia and atrophy of the unaffected testis. Metastasis rarely occurs. The definitive diagnosis can be obtained through the histopathological examination of the neoplastic testis. The treatment of choice is bilateral orchiectomy.
- Item Avaliação andrológica em cães(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) SOUZA, Fernando Augusto Cogo de; OLIVEIRA, Priscila Carvalho deThe andrological examination of dogs is considered a great tool for owners and veterinarians involved in the commercial breeding of dogs, as it allows to properly select animals for breeding, providing data on the fertilizing capacity of each individual.
- Item Avaliação do emprego de GnRH ou benzoato de estradiol em novilhas sincronizadas com o sistema Crestar (Norgestomet) e prostaglandina(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) RETTORE, Stefano; GODOY, Tiago P.; MESSIAS, Cássio T.; CARMO, Marion A. M.; PRADO, Maurício D.; FONTES, Ricardo Q. V.; HUCKE, Erica E. T. S.; MAANÇANARES, Ivan I. S.; MADUREIRA, Ed H.One of the methods of synchronization of calves in cattle that has been shown to be quite effective is the association of progetagens implanted subcutaneously for 7 to 9 days with estradiol on the day of implantation and prostaglandin on the day of removal, which aims to perform artificial insemination (AI) at a fixed time. The efficiency of the method can be further improved with the application of estradiol benzoate 24 hours after removal of the implant. greater synchrony of the follicular waves emerging through the generation of the pulsatile pattern of LH secretion and therefore result in greater efficiency of AI at a fixed time. For this purpose, 40 crossbred heifers of approximately similar age and body condition will receive on Day 0 the subcutaneous implant of Norgestomet (CRESTAR) and an injection of 2 mg of estradiol benzoate and 50 mg of progesterone. On day 7 or 8, the implant will be removed and a dose of prostaglandin F2a will be applied. We will then divide the animals into two groups, with the first control group receiving a dose of 1 mg of estradiol benzoate 24 hours after removal of the implant and in sequence after 30 hours of this injection, the I.A. The second group of heifers, experimental, will receive a dose of GnHR (10 mg buserelin or 100 mg gonadorrelin) 36 to 48 after removal of the AI implant 24 hours after this injection. The diagnosis of pregnancy will be made 34 days after the AI through ultrasound examination. The insemination pregnancy rate in the synchronization period and the fixed time insemination pregnancy rate will be evaluated. For this, the animals will also be accompanied by the visual method of observation of spines.
- Item Broncopneunonia por Aspergillus SSP em equino: relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) BITTENCOURT, Édina; GOIOZO, Paulo Felipe Izique; MANÇANARES, Celina de Almeida Furlanetto; DI SANTIS, Giovana G. W.; BANDARRA, Enio PedoneA 12-year-old Quarter Horse was referred to the Veterinary Pathology Service of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine '' Octávio Bastos '', with diarrhea followed by dehydration and ataxia. Upon death, he underwent a necroscopic examination, where multiple pulmonary nodules with a caseous aspect center and bordered by a hyperemic or fibrous halo were observed. The lung was collected and histopathological examination was carried out, where lesions with granulomatous appearance and the presence of dichotomous branched hyphae were found. Through the results of macro and microscopically evaluations and the animal's history, the diagnosis of mycotic bronchopneumonia caused by Aspergillus sp was made, which usually develops by air through the inhalation of spores present in fomites and food.
- Item Caracterização macroscópica do funículo umbilical de búfalos(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) FERREIRA, Guilherme J. B.C.; CARVALHO, Ana Flávia de; AMBRÓSIO, Carlos Eduardo; MIGLINO, Maria A.; ROSA, Ricardo Alexandre; ESTEVES, Alessandra; THOMAZ, Juliana M.The umbilical funiculus is the organ that connects the fetus to the placenta where blood and excreta from the fetus pass. Arterial blood flows from the placenta to the fetus through the umbilical veins and venous blood through the arteries, the excretion is carried through the allantoic duct. In this study, nine fetuses were used, which had their funicles measured and dissected, in order to establish developmental correlations and describe their morphology. The funnel was rod-shaped, a parallel arrangement of the vessels in the fetal just portion and a standard ruminant arrangement in the just portion - placental and middle.
- Item Carbùnculo sintomático(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) THOMÉ, Helder Esteves; SIQUEIRA, Júlio L.; BANDARRA, Enio P.Clostridiosis are often fatal toxinfections, caused by bacteria of the genus Clostridium, which penetrate the animal body in sporulated form through contaminated food, wounds or inhalation. The symptomatic carbuncle progresses rapidly and usually results in death in a few days, due to this there may be no clinical signs, but when present, it can be fever, tachypinea, anorexia, apathy and lameness in one or more limbs. These diseases lead to considerable losses in the herd, therefore the control and prophylaxis must be rigorous and based on adequate management measures and systematic vaccinations of the herd. This work aims to describe the clinical, necroscopic, etiology and epidemiology findings of this condition.
- Item Carcinoma de células escamosas em glândula AD anal de cão(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) THOMÉ, Helder Esteves; TREVISAN, Bianca Gonçalves; BANDARRA, Enio PedoneA squamous cell carcinoma infiltrating the ad anal gland of a 12-year-old male dog is described. The appearance of adenomas and adenocarcinomas of circal anal glands is more common in this location. It is important to note that the macroscopic aspect of both neoplasms is extremely similar, and the microscope needs to be carefully analyzed, avoiding confusion about the origin of the neoplasms. The rarity of this association justifies the present description, adding data to the national literature on veterinary oncology.
- Item Condrossarcoma em cão: relato de um caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) MANÇANARES, Celina de Almeida Furlanetto; LOPES, Paula R.; HATSCHBACH, Eduardo; DI SANTIS, Giovana G. W.; BANDARRA, Enio P.; ALVES, Jefferson Douglas SoaresChondrosarcoma is the second most common malignant matrix-producing bone tumor. It consists of irregular and disordered masses of immature cartilage that invade the tissues and metastasize through the lymphatic and blood circulations. It affects all species, but is more common in adult dogs of large breeds and in sheep.
- Item Controle antidopagem em esportes hípicos(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) OLIVEIRA, Sylvia Bonci de; FLEURY, João JunqueiraSubstance use before equestrian competitions has been more explicit, and associations are looking for a way to curb abuse and illegality. The misuse of drugs is prohibited in order to mask defects or emphasize quality. The anti-doping test, mainly of urine, collected before and / or after the competition, is taken in two samples, one for the test and the other for the counter test. With this control, associations are able to apply fair penalties for each particular case, according to the pre-established regulation.
- Item Convulsão versus epilepsia(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) ISAAC, Carlos Felipe; DIAS, Letícia de Carvalho; RENNÓ, Juliana G.The seizure attack, where there is loss or imbalance of consciousness, altered muscle tone, involuntary urination and defecation, must be differentiated as to its origin in: acquired epilepsy, idiopathic epilepsy or seizure as a clinical sign of some pathology. The history, clinical signs, exams, racial incidence and age range are of paramount importance for the final diagnosis and the most appropriate treatment, providing this animal with a better well-being.
- Item Criptocose(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) FEHR, Mariana; BANDARRA, Enio Pedone; FREIRE, André FernandoCryptococcosis is a disease caused by Criptococcus neofarmans that occurs in most animal species. The respiratory tract is the gateway to this microorganism, reaching up to the central nervous system resulting in ataxias and parias. The lesions vary in size, but it is difficult to find large ulcerations or fungus masses. There are diagnoses used to monitor a response to treatment such as serological tests; however, serology can be used as a definitive diagnosis in cases of disclosure of microorganisms. Due precautions are necessary in relation to the handling of animals with this disease, even considering that the process does not appear to be a zoonosis.
- Item Deficiência de microminerais no desenvolvimento de avestruzes causando a perose(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) BARREIRO, Rodrigo Henrique; SILVA, Maria Adriana Machado Lobo e; ELMOR, Roberto AranaThe ostrich develops very fast in the first months of life, thus favoring several problems in the legs. This pathology can be influenced by several factors, including genetic. With the concern of maintaining the quality of our herd, we try to find out which is the main factor related to the series. In this study we observed that 70% of the cases are related to the nutritional management of birds. The animals with deviation of upright were destined for blood tests, being observed a deficiency of manganese. This deficiency is responsible for the poor development of the tendons, which will not accompany bone growth.
- Item Demodicose canina(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) BARROS, João Bosco G. de; THOMÉ, Helder E.; Moura, Veridiana M. B. D. de; Bandarra, Enio P.Demodicosis (demodectic mange, follicular mange or red mange) is an inflammatory cutaneopathy, characterized by an abnormal increase in the number of Demodex canis mites on the skin and hair follicles. The cause of mite proliferation is uncertain, but genetic susceptibility and disorders of an immunological nature seem to be the main reasons for its growth. The disease occurs in two forms: localized and generalized.
