Item Demodicose canina(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) BARROS, João Bosco G. de; THOMÉ, Helder E.; Moura, Veridiana M. B. D. de; Bandarra, Enio P.Demodicosis (demodectic mange, follicular mange or red mange) is an inflammatory cutaneopathy, characterized by an abnormal increase in the number of Demodex canis mites on the skin and hair follicles. The cause of mite proliferation is uncertain, but genetic susceptibility and disorders of an immunological nature seem to be the main reasons for its growth. The disease occurs in two forms: localized and generalized.Item Estudo da morfologia e vascularização do rim de avestruz(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) MARTINS, Daniele dos Santos; AMBRÓSIO, Carlos Eduardo; MIGLINO, Maria Angélica; FINAZZI JÚNIOR, Renato; FERREIRA, Guilherme J. B.C.; BARREIRO, Rodrigo H.The main objective of this work is to describe the morphology and vascularization of the ostrich kidney, making it possible to compare it with the domestic rooster, duck and goose kidney with that bird. The morphological study shows that these kidneys have a cranial lobe, a middle lobe and a caudal lobe. sciatic artery. The venous system corresponds to the renal portal system, which presents two amastomoses, in the ventral view; one occurs at the interposition of the middle lobe with the caudal lobe, and another located in the cranial lobe; the veins that drain the lobes are: cranial renal vein, middle renal vein and caudal renal vein.Item Qualidade microbiológica da água de propriedades rurais abastecidas por poços rasos e nascentes(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) VALIAS, Ana Paola Gonçalves dos Santos; ROQUETO, Marco Antônio; KOROIVA, Elton Hidemitsu; HORNINK, Daniel Gerber; VIEIRA, Flaviano Cirilo; ROSA, Giovani Mileto; SILVA, Maria Adriana Machado Lobo eWater samples were taken from shallow wells and springs on rural properties in Águas da Prata-SP, in the rainy (Dec./Mar.) And dry (Abr./Set.) Seasons. The municipality was divided into three regions according to the distance from the urban area, Prata, Fonte Platina, Matinha, five Km from the urban center, Cascata (11Km) and São Roque, Córrego do Leme, (25Km). Microbiological research was carried out. There was a high number of properties with sources of supply outside the hygienic and sanitary standards, the rainfall influenced the contamination rates and the rural properties located close to the urban area showed contamination rates higher than those further away.Item Hipersensibilidade alimentar(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) COLETA, Flávia Eiras Dela; JACOBUCCI, Daniela Franco CarvalhoThe allergy is caused by an immune system response stimulated by an allergen, immunoglobins E and cells that produce histamine and serotonin, characterized by inflammation and symptoms such as itching, runny nose and intestinal problems. Many food allergens are common in the diets and diets of dogs and cats. To help animals that have a food hypersensitivity, it is necessary to carry out the elimination diet, skin tests and serological evaluations for an accurate diagnosis.Item Criptocose(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) FEHR, Mariana; BANDARRA, Enio Pedone; FREIRE, André FernandoCryptococcosis is a disease caused by Criptococcus neofarmans that occurs in most animal species. The respiratory tract is the gateway to this microorganism, reaching up to the central nervous system resulting in ataxias and parias. The lesions vary in size, but it is difficult to find large ulcerations or fungus masses. There are diagnoses used to monitor a response to treatment such as serological tests; however, serology can be used as a definitive diagnosis in cases of disclosure of microorganisms. Due precautions are necessary in relation to the handling of animals with this disease, even considering that the process does not appear to be a zoonosis.Item Dípteros sinantrópicos presentes em granja de galinhas poedeiras em São João da Boa Vista(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) COSTA, Fábio H. da; LOPES, Welber D. Zanetti; PRADO, Ângelo P.; SILVA, Regina do S.; BALIEIRO, Julio Cesar de C.; COSTA, Maria C. O.; NAVARRO, Afonso C.A survey was carried out to determine the relationship between housefly and other synanthropic dipterans at the Granja de Aves Piedeiras Crisdan in the municipality of São João da Boa Vista, SP, weekly between January and February 2001, using the trap collection method for flies (JUG-TRAP). The Diptera family found were identified as: Drosophilidae, Muscidae and Calliphoridae. Among them, Drosophilidae 95.08%, Muscidae 4.40%, Calliphoridae 0.51%, totaling 100% of the synanthropic dipter family, which predominated in the four collections.Item Avaliação do emprego de GnRH ou benzoato de estradiol em novilhas sincronizadas com o sistema Crestar (Norgestomet) e prostaglandina(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) RETTORE, Stefano; GODOY, Tiago P.; MESSIAS, Cássio T.; CARMO, Marion A. M.; PRADO, Maurício D.; FONTES, Ricardo Q. V.; HUCKE, Erica E. T. S.; MAANÇANARES, Ivan I. S.; MADUREIRA, Ed H.One of the methods of synchronization of calves in cattle that has been shown to be quite effective is the association of progetagens implanted subcutaneously for 7 to 9 days with estradiol on the day of implantation and prostaglandin on the day of removal, which aims to perform artificial insemination (AI) at a fixed time. The efficiency of the method can be further improved with the application of estradiol benzoate 24 hours after removal of the implant. greater synchrony of the follicular waves emerging through the generation of the pulsatile pattern of LH secretion and therefore result in greater efficiency of AI at a fixed time. For this purpose, 40 crossbred heifers of approximately similar age and body condition will receive on Day 0 the subcutaneous implant of Norgestomet (CRESTAR) and an injection of 2 mg of estradiol benzoate and 50 mg of progesterone. On day 7 or 8, the implant will be removed and a dose of prostaglandin F2a will be applied. We will then divide the animals into two groups, with the first control group receiving a dose of 1 mg of estradiol benzoate 24 hours after removal of the implant and in sequence after 30 hours of this injection, the I.A. The second group of heifers, experimental, will receive a dose of GnHR (10 mg buserelin or 100 mg gonadorrelin) 36 to 48 after removal of the AI implant 24 hours after this injection. The diagnosis of pregnancy will be made 34 days after the AI through ultrasound examination. The insemination pregnancy rate in the synchronization period and the fixed time insemination pregnancy rate will be evaluated. For this, the animals will also be accompanied by the visual method of observation of spines.Item Preservação da fauna selvagem em regiões semi - áridas(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) BARROS, João Bosco G. de; BARROS, Wanderbilt Duarte de; MELO, Fabiana Rodrigues de; BALIEIRO, Julio César de CarvalhoOne of the most important aspects of the problem of preserving wildlife is precisely that which refers to populations of native animals in climatic, semi-desert areas. This importance stems, above all, from the specific conditions of physical origin that prefigure regional geography.Item Hemiplegia laríngea equina(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) GOIOZO, Paulo Felipe Izique; BANDARRA, Enio PedoneLaryngeal hemiplegia, also known as '' snoring '' is a common problem in horses, where there is paresis of the left dorsal cricoarytenoid muscle, leading the animal to inability to abduct the arytenoid cartilage and vocal folds partially obstructing the air passage in the inspiration. In endoscopy, the asymmetry of the glottis can be seen and when subjected to exercise, the vocal cords vibrate, producing the characteristic sound.Item Utilização do Fentanil na Medicina Veterinária aplicado em pequenos animais(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) LIMA, Marcelo C. de; BONATELLI, Marina; MASSONE, FlávioFentanyl is a morphomimetic opioid with potent analgesic action currently used in the practice of balanced anesthesia in dogs, with pharmacological properties that qualify it in anesthesia, as it presents immediate analgesic effect, with good sedation and slight respiratory depression, causing a decrease in motor activity, not causing vomiting, however it causes sphincter relaxation and defecation may occur. It has as its antagonist drug nalofrin, which reverses the depressant action.Item Suturas em anastomoses gastrintestinais; plano único versus dois planos: revisão(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) VIEIRA, Priscila M.; FREIRE, André F.; SAMOTO, Vivian Y.; ROCHA, Lívia M. SThe most common complications in small animals' gastrointestinal tract surgeries are due to sutures, as they are responsible for the safety of the incised site in terms of dehiscence and possible leakage of contents into the abdominal cavity, adhesions resulting from the healing process and strictures. There are, therefore, great disagreements regarding the safest type of suture to be used in this type of surgery. The present work aims, through bibliographic review, to discuss the types of sutures available that can be used in these techniques so that the small animal surgeon can have options and choose among them, those that best adapt to each patient and pathology .Item Broncopneunonia por Aspergillus SSP em equino: relato de caso(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) BITTENCOURT, Édina; GOIOZO, Paulo Felipe Izique; MANÇANARES, Celina de Almeida Furlanetto; DI SANTIS, Giovana G. W.; BANDARRA, Enio PedoneA 12-year-old Quarter Horse was referred to the Veterinary Pathology Service of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine '' Octávio Bastos '', with diarrhea followed by dehydration and ataxia. Upon death, he underwent a necroscopic examination, where multiple pulmonary nodules with a caseous aspect center and bordered by a hyperemic or fibrous halo were observed. The lung was collected and histopathological examination was carried out, where lesions with granulomatous appearance and the presence of dichotomous branched hyphae were found. Through the results of macro and microscopically evaluations and the animal's history, the diagnosis of mycotic bronchopneumonia caused by Aspergillus sp was made, which usually develops by air through the inhalation of spores present in fomites and food.Item Hiperadrecorticismo(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) LOPES, Paula R.; PEREZ , Regina R.Canine hyperadrenocortism is a disease resulting from inadequate glucocorticoid secretion that affects middle-aged and older dogs. It presents several clinical signs reflecting the dysfunction of several organ systems. The diagnosis is confirmed through laboratory tests, aiming at an appropriate treatment for this disease.Item Leucoencefalomalácia equina(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) CONCEIÇÃO, Luciano Fernandes da; FREIRE, André Fernando; BANDARRA, Enio PedoneLeukoencephalomalacia is a fatal disease that affects horses and has been described practically all over the world. Its occurrence is due to the ingestion of moldy cereals contaminated by the fungus Fusarium moliniforme. The lesions are characterized by necrosis of the white matter in the brain. The main symptoms are: indifference of the animal to the environment, anorexia, blindness, difficulty in walking, among others. The signs appear within a few hours to a month after ingestion of the agent, and the animal's death may occur on the second or third day. Recoveries are rare, but when they do occur they leave serious sequelae, such as dementia and poor proprioceptive functions.Item Mormo nos animais domésticos(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) BONJORNO, Fernando; JACOBUCCI, Daniela Franco CarvalhoA new focus of glanders was diagnosed in horses in the states of Pernambuco and Alagoas, Brazil in 2000, through the isolation of the bacteria Burkholderia mallei in a mucopurulent exudate. Dandruff is a very infectious disease found in horses, mules and monkeys, which can be transmitted to humans. The acute form is characterized by fever and septicemia, leading the animal to death in a few days. Chronic disease can occur in horses with ulcerative nodules on the skin and nodules on the lungs and nasal cavity. Treatment is based on antibiotics such as aminoglycosides.Item Hemangiossarcoma como causa de hemopericárdio em cão(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) BITTENCOURT, Édina; MOURA, Veridiana M.B. Dignani de; BANDARRA, Enio P.Hemangiosarcoma is a malignant neoplasm of endothelial cells, common in elderly dogs. The present work describes the case of a hemangiosarcoma located in the right atrium, liver and spleen of a 12-year-old dog with a history of sudden death. The necroscopic examination revealed rupture of the atrial and hemopericardial neoplasia. Histopathological and immunohistochemical tests allowed the definitive diagnosis of the neoplasm.Item Controle antidopagem em esportes hípicos(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) OLIVEIRA, Sylvia Bonci de; FLEURY, João JunqueiraSubstance use before equestrian competitions has been more explicit, and associations are looking for a way to curb abuse and illegality. The misuse of drugs is prohibited in order to mask defects or emphasize quality. The anti-doping test, mainly of urine, collected before and / or after the competition, is taken in two samples, one for the test and the other for the counter test. With this control, associations are able to apply fair penalties for each particular case, according to the pre-established regulation.Item Esporotricose em gato doméstico: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) VARZIM, Fernanda Leme S. B.; TORRES, Maria Lúcia Marcucci; ALVES, Jeferson Douglas Soares; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoSporotrichosis is a subcutaneous mycosis caused by the fungus Sporotrix schenckii, which can affect several animal species, including man. Feline sporotrichosis is rare, but it is transmissible by biting, scratching, or by contact of the skin or mucosa with exudate from lesions. It can be manifested clinically in three primary forms: cutaneous, lymphatic and disseminated, the cutaneous form being more common in cats. The disease is of great importance for public health and infected animals, especially cats that must be handled with great care.Item Atualização sobre sertolioma em cães(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) CANAVES, Karla Christina; MANÇANARES, Celina Almeida FurlanettoSertolioma occurs more frequently in elderly and cryptorchidic dogs. Sertoli cells are responsible for physical support, protection and nutrition for developing gametes. Sertoli cells secrete estrogen, so the animal usually shows signs of hyperestrogen such as feminization, gynecomastia, alopecia and atrophy of the unaffected testis. Metastasis rarely occurs. The definitive diagnosis can be obtained through the histopathological examination of the neoplastic testis. The treatment of choice is bilateral orchiectomy.Item Relato de caso de teratologia em avestruz(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) OLIVIERI, Daniela Liliane; MELLO, Eduardo Castanheira de; FERREIRA, Guilherme J. B.C.; CARVALHO, Ana Flávia de; ALVES, Jefferson Douglas SoaresTeratology is the study of the causes, mechanisms and manifestations of deviations in both structural and functional development, embryos that were useful in the studies of a series of these anomalies and this work seeks to contribute in some way, reporting a rare case that in Brazil has not yet been described. For this case report, an animal (bird Struthio camelus) was used that had an embryonic malformation and presented with two columns, a trachea, an esophagus and the joined body, but with duplication of the limbs including the wing.
