    The following work aims to explain and discuss based on the data provided and in-depth scientific research already carried out in the first stage of the work, and refers to the case study below.     Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) is characterized by arterial obstruction, blocked by the plaque. atheroma and part of the heart is not irrigated by blood and oxygen, causing ischemia, which is death of a part of the heart muscle. AMI is a major concern for public health, as it It has a high mortality rate and a high number of hospitalizations across the country. The factors that can lead a person to have an AMI are related to family history, gender, age, hypercholesterolemia, which is a high level of cholesterol in the blood, high blood pressure, diabetes, stress, poor diet, smoking, alcohol consumption, obesity and lack of physical activity, which can increase incidence of coronary artery disease. The objective of this work was to identify the prevalence of risk factors for cardiovascular diseases in students at a higher education institution in São João da Boa Vista, applying a questionnaire, previously approved by the CEP.
