Item Carbùnculo sintomático(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) THOMÉ, Helder Esteves; SIQUEIRA, Júlio L.; BANDARRA, Enio P.Clostridiosis are often fatal toxinfections, caused by bacteria of the genus Clostridium, which penetrate the animal body in sporulated form through contaminated food, wounds or inhalation. The symptomatic carbuncle progresses rapidly and usually results in death in a few days, due to this there may be no clinical signs, but when present, it can be fever, tachypinea, anorexia, apathy and lameness in one or more limbs. These diseases lead to considerable losses in the herd, therefore the control and prophylaxis must be rigorous and based on adequate management measures and systematic vaccinations of the herd. This work aims to describe the clinical, necroscopic, etiology and epidemiology findings of this condition.Item Carcinoma de células escamosas em glândula AD anal de cão(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) THOMÉ, Helder Esteves; TREVISAN, Bianca Gonçalves; BANDARRA, Enio PedoneA squamous cell carcinoma infiltrating the ad anal gland of a 12-year-old male dog is described. The appearance of adenomas and adenocarcinomas of circal anal glands is more common in this location. It is important to note that the macroscopic aspect of both neoplasms is extremely similar, and the microscope needs to be carefully analyzed, avoiding confusion about the origin of the neoplasms. The rarity of this association justifies the present description, adding data to the national literature on veterinary oncology.Item Endocardiose valvar bilateral: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) SILVA, Ana Paula Teixeira da; MORAES, Cintia Miguel de; THOMÉ, Helder Esteves; MELLO, Henry Bruno Barros; TORRES, Maria Lúcia Marcucci; SAWADA, Marina LieHeart failure is a clinical syndrome where the heart is unable to perform blood pumping at an adequate rate to maintain the metabolic needs of tissues, due to the decrease in ventricular ejection. However, congestive heart failure is a syndrome that affects animals with chronic heart disease, leading to an inability to maintain cardiac output due to the excessive use of mechanisms compensatory effects of the cardiovascular system. Among the main cardiac disorders, valvular endocardiosis stands out, which is characterized by nodular thickening of the valve leaflets. degenerative process, not associated with infectious or inflammatory agents, being a disease of chronic and progressive course.Item Leptospirose Canina: relato de caso(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2010-05-30) MORAES, Cíntia Miguel de; SILVA, Ana Paula Teixeira da; SAWADA, Marina Lie; TORRES, Maria Lúcia Marcucci; MELLO, Henry Bruno Barros; THOMÉ, Helder EstevesLeptospirosis is a disease of worldwide importance that affects several species of domestic animals and also man. It is caused by the mobile bacteria Leptospira sp. which is eliminated in the urine and enters the body through damaged skin or intact mucous membranes. This present report describes the case of a female dog attended at the Veterinary Hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University Fundação de Ensino Octavio Bastos (HOVET –UNIFEOB), showing apathy, anorexia, adipsia, dysuria, jaundice, pale mucous membranes, emesis with blood streaks , contact with rodents, updated immunization and the presence of three asymptomatic contacts. Animal was submitted to treatment with enrofloxacin and penicillin associated with supportive therapy, however, he died. On histopathological examination, post-autopsy was diagnosed with leptospirosis. The objective of this work was to report that even vaccinated dogs are susceptible to leptospirosis infection, due to a variety of serotypes existing in the environment.Item Linfadenite caseosa em caprinos e ovinos(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2008-11-30) FRANCO, Marília Cardoso; SANTOS, Flávio Silveira; THOMÉ, Helder EstevesCaseous lymphadenitis is an inflammatory process caused by Corynebacterium (Actinomyces) pseudotuberculosis, which affects goats and sheep and rarely cattle, characterized by the formation of abscesses with a purulent content with a caseous aspect and yellowish. In lymph nodes, the disease begins with an increase in volume, which is sensitive and firm to palpation, most often pre-parotid and pre-scapular. It is a disease that causes several economic losses to goat and sheep herds. There are several forms of diagnosis for caseous lymphadenitis, among them are palpation of the lymph nodes, serological exams, microbiological culture and necropsy with compatible findings are also based on the measurement of the humoral response to exotoxin showing varying degrees of precision The best way to eradicate lymphadenitis of the squad, is not based on the treatment, but in strict prophylactic measures.Item Neoplasia mamária canina com múltiplas metástases(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2008-11-30) GARCIA, Claudia Fernanda Ribeiro; SILVA, Camila Vasconcellos da; THOMÉ, Helder EstevesCanine mammary tumors are known for their structural complexity, for the high degree of histological heterogeneity, and represent over 52% of all neoplasms that affect canine females, 50% of which are malignant. The population with the greatest susceptibility is made up of middle-aged to elderly animals, without racial predisposition. Understanding the biological behavior of canine mammary neoplasms allows the identification of patients with similar clinical evolution and facilitates the determination of specific therapeutic measures. The present report describes the case of a female dog, SRD, 11 years old, who presented several metastatic nodules of a malignant mixed mammary gland tumor, reaching different organs, including the central nervous system.Item Qualidade microbiológica da água no município de Aguaí, Estado de São Paulo(Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2001-11-30) VALIAS, Ana Paola Gonçalves dos Santos; ROQUETO, Marco Antônio; CARVALHO, Ana Flávia de; VULPINI, Cátia Monteiro; THOMÉ, Helder Esteves; LEME, Ligiane de Oliveira; LEITE FILHO, Lúcio OliveiraWater samples were taken from shallow wells and springs from 32 rural properties in Aguaí-SP, from a total of 75 selected properties. The municipality was divided into five sectors, where samples are being collected during the rainy and dry seasons. A microbiological research was carried out through analyzes for total and fecal coliforms using the multiple tube model and total count of heterotrophic microorganisms in samples collected in the dry period (Sep / Oct.01), in which high levels of contamination were found of water in disagreement with the standards of the Ministry of Health - Brazil.Item Utilização da imunohistoquímica para diagnóstico em Medicina Veterinária(Centro Universitário da Fundação de Ensino Octávio Bastos, 2008-11-30) SANTOS, Mayara Clefp Bailoni; SANCHES, Carolina Dias de Campos; THOMÉ, Helder EstevesImmunohistochemistry has been used in the human diagnostic routine since the 1970s and, recently, has been introduced in veterinary medicine, however with its use still limited due to the lack of specific antibodies to animal tissues, thus using antibodies that present cross-reactivity between antigens humans and animals. This technique aims to visualize in the cell the distribution of antibody molecules marked with fluochromic substances (immunofluorescence), antibodies associated with enzymes (peroxidase) or radioactive (auto-radiography). For a conclusive diagnosis, with quality and usefulness, the immunohistochemical examination must be inserted in an appropriate clinical-morphological context, the selection of ideal antibodies and standardized reaction protocols must be made, clinical information must be associated and data from complementary exams, allowing the pathologist a thorough analysis of the case. Among the main indications of this exam, there is the attempt of histogenetic classification of neoplasms with undifferentiated aspects in routine slides, so that more suitable treatment schemes can be applied to these cases. This literature review aims to present the characteristics of the immunohistochemical examination, as well as its use in veterinary medicine for the diagnosis of neoplasms.
